  1. I don't think I've ever seen a windage tray for a K, you can make one with a bit of patience though.
  2. Mate maybe your brakes aren't in very good condition? Perhaps check your pads and rotors, bleed and replace your brake fluid etc. I wouldn't dream of home engineering ABS. It's a complex system full of redundacy and failsafes. I worry about people's home mods on a simple dumb system, let alone people getting into closed loop control systems and software engineering in their back shed! And you know the deal with ABS - so big deal, you stomp on your ABS but forget to steer out of the way of the object anyway but rather just punch straight into it.
  3. Yeh no point arguing. Weight affects how much heat energy the metal absorbs. Thermal conductivity determines how fast heat travels through the metal, and isn't affected by weight, but rather the thickness of the metal. With intercoolers, the weight/heat absorption thing would be critical for heat soak, copper intercoolers would suck because the copper would be able to absorb more heat than aluminium. I know you don't like him Mick, but I thought he was pretty good. having said that, the guys on Halifax street lay some welds on my trashed rims and they were really good to deal with.
  4. Wait a second- have you driven the car since changing the head gasket? Or did you do the HG and the radiator at the same time. Something sounds awry here; Pressurised crank case (ie air coming out oil cap) is likely because the rings are shot. The fact that your radiator and crank case are pressurised is suspicious.
  5. Start here: http://www.movingcars.com.au/ if 80% are adelaidians, why would we know the price to ship to brisbane LOLz?
  6. and locked.
  7. I wouldn't pay 200 bucks an hour to get chained up and whipped by a hooker, but as for what others are happy to pay, who cares.

    Spotted

Some white e7 with driving lights attempted the worst slide ever as he followed me off blacks, onto south road and then left on majors road yesterday. Also hammered past Ryan as I followed him around the corner of o sully onto dyson.
  9. I take it you've never pulled a plenum off a CA18 then! Agreed, if the k manifold is the hardest you've come across you're doing alright. A bit of practice and you'll be able to do it in no time.
  10. Just wondering how you came to that conclusion, Copper has much higher thermal conductivity that aluminium? Alumium rads are probably preferred because they're about half the weight of copper, don't cost near as much and it's easier to production weld than it is to solder.
  11. C & C Radiators 18 The Parade W, Kent Town SA 5067, Australia +61 8 8362 2057 ‎ I've used him before, he reco'd my Ke20 radiator, price was good, turnaround was less than 24 hours and he was good to deal with.
  12. I would get the CIG if you're getting a cheapy. I bought a cheap CIG auto helmet that was a bit faulty and when I returned it, I was able to talk directly with the guy at Thermadyne (CIG mother company) and he explained the details of what was faulty and why, they were really good to deal with.
  13. There are plenty, please don't be so lazy and look through the sale section. Locked and warned.
  14. I'm glad I waasnt the first naysayer True. How much money have you got? Well actuall, he didn't. He started and didn't finish. Anyone familiar with bills stuff will probably have worked out that he seems to have a shit load of money. Last paragraph of that page and he's making mention of how much that projects costing... If you want to have a crazy ke10, put a turbo 4age in. If you want a turbo awd, buy the gt4 and drive that. There's an awd chevy v8 powered 260z kicking around Melbourne. The 260z is blessed with enough room in the engine bay to fit the whole ke10.
  15. Problem with the real basic arc/tig welders, none of them have pulse function, pulse is unreal for thin stuff, much more forgiving and less likely to blow a hole.
  16. Spencer, depends largely what you're doing. I've gone with tig cos I like the fact that you can do some really fine neat work. Even as a hacker, it wasn't long and I was running 2mm wide beads on 1mm sheet. But when you're trying to put a couple of small beads on an exhaust header on a 911 while it's still attached to the engine, it's that moment when you realize what a pain 2handed welding is! Argon is expensive (tig), at about 120 as stated for an E size refill. E size is around 4 cubic metres, a D size is iirc 1.8 cubic metres but will still cost 80 bucks to fill. Rental is negligible between the two, the larger f size is even better value but they're 6 foot tall and I wouldn't want to be dragging that round the shed. I went through a d bottle in no time, those small disposable bottles are hellishly expensive and you would happily eat one an half an hour. Argoshield gas for a Mig is much cheaper to refill than argon, but bottle rental is the same. Tig is much slower to lay lots of weld, for me thats not an issue, I'm not welding 600mm diameter pipe spools. It takes a lot more practice but it's pretty satisfying when you nail it. If you've welded with oxy, the technique is similar. Before you go with tig, do a Tafe night course in it, or if you have a mate with ine, have play at least. I did a course and it cost me 100 bucks for five 3 hours sessions sor something like that. Ive been working with top notch pipe welders/boilermakers for ages and I'm always talking gear with them; in short, when it comes to brand names, it's like the old weber/dellorto debate, everyone has personal preferences. Kemmpi, fronius, miller, Cig all good kit but damn expensive. The only consensus I reached was that Kemppi was shit hot. I'd love to buy one but it'll cost close to 3000. BUT- the job I'm on at the moment, one of the welders, a damn good one at that, rocked up with a tokentools.com.au dc tig, cost him about 700 bucks. He's had it for 5 years and used it as a contractor flat out, with no problems. He reckons it's tougher than the cheaper boc and cig units he's used and has all the control. The company he works for actuall bought a second DC unit, as well as an ACDC for about 1700. The only complaint he had was that the leads and hoses were a but cheap and too short, but can buy custom ones for a coulee if hundred. Torches are also shit but regardless which welder you buy, you're best off buying a Tigmaster flex head torch anyway. I'm going to have a dabble with the acdc and see how it welds, but for the price For a home hack tig I don't think I can justify 3000-4000 for a brand name one when a pro welder can vouch for the Tokens durability etc. They're Chinese made, but the Aussie guy who sells them designed and has them built to his spec. He discusses it at length on the woodwork forums, google it.
  17. Nah, the planned release date was 3rd May, which was the same date that they released previous games but they pushed it back to this month. Interesting to hear that Spencer. Like they said on Good Game, the FPS genre has moved a long way from the simple testosterone pumping splatter and tit fest of Duke 3D. They're gonna need character development, strong plot lines, upgrades/levels/character development if they want this game to fly....
  18. Remake american history X, holy shit, why ruin a fantastic film; you couldn't remake that and do it better! Ed Norton, Ed Furlong, you couldn't find a better combination. Remaking a great classic is a waste of time. Look at The Italian Job, the remake was a good watch but the reality is that there was nothing memorable about it and if just felt lacking in comparison to the original.
  19. haha dude, once you've lived in a sharehouse with a.... problem housemate, then you'll realise why people are picky! Unless of course.... YOU are the problem housemate... I guess you will never know! :lolcry:
  20. Hmm that's an interesting option the T50 thing. There are two K50 boxes, can we confirm they are the same shifter between them (ke70 5 speed and KE55 5 speed)
  21. I made a couple of brackets for mine with aluminium angle across the front, plenty of room on a ke10 between the grille. I would never dream of simply putting bolts through the fins given how easy it was to make brackets. I would prefer to run suck through with a shroud, but space is the problem. When my car is at full temp, you can feel a massive temperature difference in the corners of the radiator where the fan doesn't blow through. The ke16 radiator is small, there's probable another 20-30% cooling to be gained with a shroud. And yes, the Davies crags are very loud, I'm almost tempted to put a resistor in the circuit to slow it down a little!
  22. Hah I dunno about bugger all iron, 316 stainless is still 70% iron! 304 and 316 are both fine in a non aggressive environment, on a car etc. Most of the time stainless rusts because it's poorly passivated or contaminated with carbon steel, like grinding spatter. Good way to passivate at home is get a stainless wire wheel and go over any welds. We've got a cool passivation wand at work but they're about 2 grand. You can also use a pickling paste but it,s nasty shit. Yeh purging is the way to go with tube, otherwise you start popping and farting when you get to the end of the run and ruin a good weld haha. Often pressure pipe will be welded with a tig root run for strength then capped with arc, arcs the fastest method especially if you have to do 6 passes at each butt.
  23. Problem with most factory fans dave (trust me I went through every car at the wrecker) is that they are large, their mounting brackets are a pain to adapt to (often the don't bolt to a single plane) and they're monodirectional, so you need to find the correct direction fan to suit your application. Yes, I know, reverse polarity, sure to all you butchers out there! haha. Davies craig units are designed so you can reverse the polarity and also flip the blade so you get clean, efficient air flow. Also, the fail off/fail on scenario varies car to car, Toyota in general are fail on switches, to set it up you will need the correct switch and an extra relay in the circuit. There's a good thread on Toymods (by fellow RC member the Witzl) with diagrams for the two different setups, see here http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/showthread.php?95-Guide-How-to-wire-up-thermofans and if you want a switch, go through the Tridon online parts catalogue to find the one you want. Actually I just found a scan from the Tridon cattledog on Toymods also, this will be the best way to select the right switch for the application http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/showthread.php?5125-Tridon-Thermo-Fan-Switch-Catalogue
  24. At least all you interstate blokes don't get the Metropolitan Plumbing ads on the radio....
  25. Nope. Probably explains the carbon as well. I was simply interested what the CC was, 5K's factory are about 22cc.
