  1. OK I'm closing this thread, I'm not sure what's going on and i don't want an off-topic abuse war starting up. Cheers
  2. I'm actually looking at the caltrac design thinking that there's a better way to do it.
  3. I was going to say, there's a difference between tramp bars and Caltrac's but this page says it for me... Caltracs wouldn't be that hard to make,
  4. Exactly what I was going to say. And that was factory.
  5. I still reckon I'd be beefing up that bracket, it's susceptible to fatigue failure which means when it goes, it just goes. And that will be a real bitch to get home.
  6. The pressure difference is due to dynamic pressure from air rushing past the carb piston, principle is the same regardless of na or turbo. SU needs to be oriented vertically with the black adjustment knob at the to. You can angle them in one plane but you need to have angled fuel bowls.
  7. I would hazard a guess that mod was done because they had trouble getting a new heater core...?
  8. I'll chuck my vote in for Blackwood Dyno, they had my Dellortos running sweet.
  9. Whatever you do, make sure you frame it out before you cut the roof.
  10. Haha. You know what their excuse is? They've been on their feet, probably for a good 12 hours as well. And the floor their feet are on constantly changing angle. They've been pulling a heavy cart up and down that wonky floor for those 12 hours, and they've put up with all 180 dumb bastards that are jammed in a cigar tube with them. Top it off, they're staying in some poxy hotel, on the other side of the country, miles from their family and loved ones. It might be 3-4 days before they get to see them. It's not like they're at your hotel for a goddamn holiday. Don't get me wrong, basic courtesy is an important thing.BUT, put yourself in their shoes once in a while and think... "why are these people tired and grumpy today?"
  11. Hahaha good luck. 6800 bucks spent on a 200 buck KE30 wont get it looking like that one.
  12. So am I, and even more intrigued what it's got to do with corollas. Moved to Automotive Discussion.
  13. In the rollaclub regional section under NSW. Thread has been moved.
  14. You could also use gasket stripper, that stuff is mean on paint and it is safe for aluminium heads. Many paint strippers though are alkaline and will eat aluminium, sorry for not expanding on my previous comments. When I polished mine, I went 180, 240, 400, 800, 1200, 2000 then polishing head on the drill. I had some really nasty scratches, some sections that were welded and hit with a dremel drum sander and then hand sanded, you wouldn't believe the finish, they came up amazingly well.
  15. Don't use paint Strippers on alloy wheels....
  16. yeh I've heard of seriously worked 3/4ks making around 150ish at the flywheel. My 5K is 68rwkw.
  17. Yeh I was away that weekend otherwise I would have. Shady, next time bring MM Mike along! I gotta know is he crazy?
  18. When you say heavy off centre, you mean its hard work to steer it? Tyres design can affect, especially if they're cheap shitty ones. First thing I would check is tyres pressures though if they are low it will be heqvy to steer. Camber and castor settings will also impact it though. Just wheel align it then see how it feels. Wheel wobble is a balance issue, not an alignment issue.
  19. Holy shit we need to drink together. Best Gravediggaz song ever, closely followed by deathtrap Well I'm jealous. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPzv_EwxMl0
  20. No CA20's aren't worth it. Waste of time, you'd be better with an L20 motor over a CA20.
  21. Oh yeh good pay alright, probably because they're all signed up with those dickheads at the CFMEU Yeh I said it.
  22. Just a disclaimer to mate, I got my carbs and manifold at an exceptional price. It may have been 350, either way, that is a damn good price. You should be able to pick up a good tidy set of DHLA 40's on ebay for 200-300 bucks, and a manifold for around 100. If you are patient there are good deals to be had. You will need to spend some money on jets etc as well, but best you let the dynotuner worry about that.
  23. Where did you come across this piece of wisdom? I'm running Dell 40's, dynotuned and it's running as well as it was when dynoed 2 years ago. I just pipped 8.86L/100km the other day. These are dellorto's, can't comment on Weber's ability to hold a tune. No. Value is terrible. Waste your money if you want, but after you spend that, you'll spend another 300 bucks on the dyno. 50 bucks for fuel pressure reg. Plus you really should run a cam and extractors, thats 200-300. My dellortos on manifold set me back 250, bolted them on and it was driveable. Then 300 for a tune. 2000 is a joke. 48's are unecessarily large, I run 28mm chokes in my 40's and I would like to go up to 32. To hark back evans point about airspeed, Chokes determine the airspeed, not the throat size. Putting a 48mm carb on then running a small choke is a bit ridiculous, you can get good solid performance with 40's, if you were building a serious racecar then you would probably go with 45's so you can keep your options open. This is for twins. Might as well go with twins, but yeh you could run a single 45/48 I suppose. Mine is on a worked 5K with a big ass cam. It's driveable but that's really because I have a stock flywheel, high idle, small chokes (low down response) and a fairly agricultrural 5K dizzy curve. I could make more grunt by changing some of those things but it's a daily so I'm happy as it is.
  24. oh yeah. I'm a music Lover, lover lover. Although some might think I'm an asshole
