  1. Fair call. I fully agree. Wow another flat white/black ke with corona hubbies!
  2. Although I wasn't clear, I was assuming a cracked piston was going hand in hand with other cylinder related carnage. 5k pistons from cal are in20, 40 and 60 thou over, i would expect the same in 4ks
  3. You should be able to order a single piston through ACL, at around 40 bucks each. I'd put a set in anyway, step up a bore size or two.
  4. what sort of hoist? A 2 post? how tall is your shed, I'm guessing a 3.5-4.0m gutter?
  5. sweet. No rust, are you sure it's even a datsun? these things are cool, not a column shift is it? I was trying to buy a 620 ute off a chick in Adelaide a couple of years ago for 600 bucks.... She went all strange, I think she got some interest in it and then decided not to sell. Damn it. Would have been a steal!
  6. There is a crowd in Australia that sell pipercross gear, can't remember the name. I think one of their foam filter assemblies was about 250 australian.
  7. WGMG - R31 skyriners. there's 7 for sale on the non-toyota page 1 at the moment....
  8. Hmm. Let's think.... New suspension would be the best thing to get. Yes.
  9. Get it all through your engine builder, he will supply it at a good price. If for some reason you're not using an engine builder, then any auto store will hook you up with a VRS kit for a 5K.
  10. Just buy one of those. They've been designed properly, as far as air flow etc. Sure you can make a bow for them but there's some science behind these, just buy the Pipercross unit. When you spend that sort of money on carbs, you want the air box to work as best it can.
  11. Hahaha pwned. WGMG, people who say pwned.
  12. give the solenoid a tap with a hammer and see if it kicks. Either way, replace the starter.
  13. Aftermarket manifolds only available as side draft weber or if you look hard enough, SU style. Theres an SU manifold for sale on here at the moment somewhere. I think in adelaide as well. Weber/dell/solex manifold is still available new from Lynx.
  14. I agree with Gav, but that's not to say that good deals don't exist. Chestikoph's car was a killer price, I agree Gav, and I would love to buy another clean KE1x some day but not right now with a wedding and big honeymoon on the horizon this year. Some day I'd love to stack some cash and sit and patiently wait for tidy, driving, clean, maybe resto, maybe good original KE17 SL to come up. But I'll pay top dollar, there's no way I'll bother with a project.
  15. no that shit aint right. hot school girls should just give it up to older blokes, we shouldn't have to go through the effort of putting the moves on 'em. you know what, the funny bit is they got exactly what they wanted out of you.
  16. There's about 4 tyre joints near you, what's the issue with taking it to them and having it done professionally. It will cost you all of about 50-75 bucks.
  17. It's just not that easy, lasercut steel plate comes in set sizes, the flanges on the inlet manifolds can inevitably vary as they are cast. They've made it as easy as possible by making the extractor flange thinner than the factory flanges, it would be a whole lot harder if it were the other way around.
  18. Hi Sam and welcome. I'm going to move your thread to the Rides section, keep us posted on your progress Cheers.
  19. Anecdotal evidence is what the internets are built on hiro! Surely you appreciate their merit :lolcry: Water is soluble in ethanol, but when ethanol saturates, then the water seperates and sits in the bottom of your tank. I think it's 6% by mass. Methlyated spirits (which have always been ethanol, with menthanol added to it) is useful to get water out of a petrol tank like woteva mentioned, because ethanol will absorb the water and then it passes through the combustion process.
  20. Cobra and OMP both make nice looking retro style buckets but they'll set you back 1000 bucks for a pair. Old RS2000 seats are also cool but probably hard as hell to find at a reasonable price. Looks like a tough project, just to let you know I'm going to move it to the Rides section. Welcome to the rollaclub.
  21. Sold on ages ago I think
  22. The green looks pretty cool BUT.... *opinion warning* the military theme is amazingly stupid. Sorry couldn't help myself. If it were a 40's WLA harley, or a Chevy Blitz, yeh shure hook it up. But it was a jap car built in the 60's, about the only correlation between it and the US military is the Little Boy's background radiation....
  23. Zoidburg, my guess is that your pistons are the aftermarket ACL/Mahle items, they will measure at about 8-9CC Your D Dish head will measure about 22cc, so your compression will be high. As mentioned in the other thread, if you're worried about it being unworkable, you could probably get the head volume increased slightly.
  24. Adelaide wheel and rim works or Extensive wheel works, opposite one another on South road, just near BOC gasses.
  25. A machinist shop could put them in the lathe and turn them down to size in 10 minutes or so
