  1. I don't understand why everyone has so much trouble with them, mine are fine and I've pulled them out and put em back in many times.
  2. I've moved it to the rides section. Cool car.
  3. Agreed. Everybody cut the shit talk and get back on topic.
  4. Haha that's pretty funny considering this always used to be parked at Tyrepower in blackwood.... How old is that photo though? Last I saw it in that condition, a bloke at my school used to drive it and that was nearly 15 years ago. Locked diff = welded diff. Good to see this thing has moved on.... Keep the twin carbies though, get them tuned correctly and you'll get decent mileage. My twin sidedraft 5K regularly nets me 9.5L/100km
  5. I heard that you can only buy the baby aston if you already own a real aston though? Probably wont be so many getting about in that case....
  6. The centre hole is to locate the rim correctly not carry the load. With countersunk wheelnuts you can get away with a gap like that as they will self centre anyway, but your wheelnuts aren't countersunk so really you want a hub spacer ring
  7. Luke it shits me too. It's been raised in the past, all I can say is this: If a seller clearly nominates "no swaps" or is specific on what they wish to swap, then we will immediately delete stupid posts. This goes on constantly, "nice car", "I wish I could afford this" etc, we delete them all the time. Every bloody day...
  8. Wagons are pretty rare but there's a few getting around adelaide. 5k with some hot bits is easy and cheap. Who cares if you can't beat an r31, at least your not rolling around in a big fat ugly Nissan drop out from the Cubism art school.

Haha it's only going to get worse Mickey.
  10. Did the previous owners have it running? It's come up a couple of times, people swap pulleys onto their 5K's and don't realise they have a different timing mark. 5K timing covers are easily recognisable as the timing marks are closer to the crank centreline, up higher than the 3k/4k ones. Easier to time when looking directly from the top when in a van....
  11. Yep, you can also just watch the rockers on #4, at the point that they are "on the rock", when the exhaust is just starting to close and the inlet rocker is starting to open, then that's about TDC for #1. Take a photo of your timing cover and post it up Twinky.
  12. I doubt they're high tensile, just get one from Toyota if you can otherwise a wreckers
  13. Ok if its timed properly that's fine. But are you 100% that you have the correct timing cover to match your pulley? Because that's exactly what happened with micks car, 5ks have different timing covers and if you pull the pulley off the 4k then you have issues.
  14. Check your dizzy. I took a look at micks 5k a while back and it was running like shit on idle. Same thing, you could pull any lead off any plug with no change. My money is down that you're out by a tooth on the dizzy.
  15. No kidding, sweet. That explains why they work with the older factory points tachos as per my query in This thread Yeh I recall cam and tax talking about that, can't remember what thread it was in I looked into a jay car kit years ago but couldn't find anyone who'd given good feedback on their results. I'm going to bring a programmable MSD back from the us at the end of the year though which will do all i need.
  16. Did he have anti theft nuts on them or not?
  17. Wow, 10 grand for only 72kw... I rev to about 7500 and make 68.
  18. It's a small block ford though, not a chev. also know as.... ... I've seen this car as well, it's a wicked car. Sold for about 11 grand a couple of years ago. Engineered. No denying it will handle different. Doesn't mean it won't handle well. I agree, it's a wtf.
  19. Yeh they're both hall effect (magnetic) just that the 5k is an internal igniter. The biggest difference could be in the advance weights but that's about it.
  20. You wont be able to do a one way trip with a trailer it will cost you a shitload. Same with hiring cars, one way trips are mega expensive.
  21. Yep. Just get a puller.
  22. I had to change my yoke over when I changed my toyoglide to a ke55 5 speed.
  23. used a 4 inch nail held in pliers and heated up on a stove to solder some joints once. Nails, who would have thought they have any place on a car....

  25. Sorry couldn't help myself... :lolcry: Yeh turbo kick is ok but I still reckon the kick of a really nasty NA cam is a whole lot more exciting!
