78%. Not too bad, but still disappointing.

No sweat mate.

Ford vs Holden, ROFL. This is a Toyota forum, I do not give a f*%k about big heavy American cars. Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm a fan of neither, and you are obviosly a ford fan. If he were in a commodoore I would have said the same stuff. Thats your assumption. I have owned both a falcon and a commodoore, and they were both the exact opposite of what I want my car to be. Let me just say that if you had seen the fishies in question, there is no question of his skills being very poor. It started as a slide, and ended up a fishy since he over corrected it twice in a row before finally calming her down. No skills there at all. What do I have to say to be believed, I know what it looks like when a car is drifting, and this was nothing like it. The fact that he got completely off the throttle after he didn't manage to correct it first time around is a dead giveaway. He was on ice for a while with no control. Anyhow, I'm relieved to see you will stick around and contribute in more positive ways. :D

How am I getting ahead of myself? You can't test anything to see if it works unless your certain that there isnt something simple like a ground fault ruining your tests. What you've said here is 100% nothing like what you said above. If you meant this you should have written this /\/\/\/\. I never get over people who write a poorly explained post which could mean anything you want it to if you read it with a certain idea in mind, then correct people when they don't get what you meant to say. What you wrote in the post where you said I was getting ahead of myself, gives a clear idea that you are talking about voltage drop while cranking, not how to test cables. I will say this to one and all; if you are going to be bothered post to 'help' someone out with a technical issue, the least that you can do is explain things fully and clearly with puctuation and the best spelling you can muster. If you just throw out a random sentence and don't proofread or edit it to be sure it makes sense and achieves its purpose, your not helping anyone. don't ever use the "I was in a hurry" or "short of time" excuses, you have found all the time in the world to check back and argue with people, just not to help them at first. I appreciate you are trying to help, mate, nothing personal. I see your an older fella who is probably a bit wiser. Just re-read the post with the voltage drop stuff where you responded to me, and tell me if that has the same meaning as the one above with some sort of explanation included... Thats all I'm getting at. I'm responding to what you wrote, not what you should have written, or meant to write. No biggie, I hope he fixes the issue with all this help hes getting.

Why defend him at all? You don't know him, if you agreed with me you wouldn't be so argumentative about this. Any idiot can mash the throttle and get away with it most of the time. Just cause you drive away, its not skill, luck mostly. I appreciate you are passionate, but if you defend his actions as skill, you are condoning it. That hollow little sentence at the end doesnt really mean shit if you already claimed he was skillful. Its like saying, its cool you killed that guy, but I don't condone murder. Do you get it? The point of this thread was to discuss funny offs that try hard hoons have while doing what they do worst, not to argue the skills of said hoons. I have read in full all the posts you've made here on the site, and your either arguing with people, or selling shit. At what point are you gonna contribute more than random misguided opinions to the site? I'm not trying to be smart, but I don't think any of the established members will respect what you write, if you defend idiot hoons which ruin it for all of us who mod cars. There is 100% no way that 'skillful' el falcon drivers spend their time lapping country towns and sliding up busy streets with people and parked cars in the pouring rain. Nobody with any track-work credentials would do that. Please appreciate that this isn't personal towards you, you may well be a good human being with a good helping of brains and common sense, your just not advertising this possibility so far.

Go the brown, sleepers are awesome, and brown is the internationally recognized sleeper paint color. Have a peek at AE71Neos car, its awesome, and could provide further brown inspiration. Seriously though, just like 7 shades has said, sweeeeet car, mine was so bent when I started compared to that one...

I think drifters can look faster while racing, due to them being well past the ragged edge and sliding, but whether or not its faster to corner that way is a matter for the stopwatch. If this were truly the case wouldn't circuit racers be practicing drift techniques to gain better lap times. Cue the commentators: " ....and Lewis Hamilton, passes Raikkonen on the first turn, with an impressive line and heaps of angle, just look at the tyre smoke..." I can't see it being faster, except maybe on the odd corner, certainly not a whole lap. In any race with more than one lap its a useless technique due to tyre wear anyhow. I do concede that they have far higher entry speeds most of the time, but the exit is what counts if your looking for time. I have always wondered how different a lap time you can get drifting as fast as possible, or just going for traction.

If you knew the shit that Beerhead can do behind the wheel you'd shut your yap about what your friends can do. If your calling him a noob that just tells me that you are indeed none too familiar with the Rollaclub community. On another note, if a boxer kicks your ass in the street, thats assault or gbh, right, but if you take a fight and step into the ring with him, then its a sport. Same thing goes for drifting, I can't believe you would defend the person I saw, sight unseen, on assumptions you have made. Just done your first fishtale and not crashed? When you going pro, surely DA will call you this week when they hear about it. Sorry to flame you dude, but enough is enough. :D  :P

If they drift on public roads they are hoons. Drifters do it at the track. don't brag about that stuff on here.

What about volvos, I'm yet to see a person in a volvo who drives at the speed limit consistently, can park, and has peripheral vision. There are no exceptions. lol @ jasons volvo.

WTF? It should be 12 volts coming through the trigger wire while cranking, if its below about 8 it probably wont crank, and therefore this voltage drop is probably caused by a bad connection somewhere. You are seemingly talking about the other issue which is the perceived need for a starter relay, due to voltage drop while cranking. You don't know if you need one until all your grounds are awesome. Of course thats how you measure a voltage drop, how else would you do it? More importantly, don't try and correct me, help the guy with the problem, its his thread.

Saw a flat black pig spec ae71 with blue doors cruising along the western freeway this arvo. What a pig.

I'm telling you its just bad grounds. I was certain that mine were perfect too, until an auto electrician pulled one of them off and showed me the little welded spot where the current had been arcing. It only takes the tiniest fault and its going to drop voltage. If you really want to see if its grounds then check how much voltage there is at the trigger wire from the ignition switch at the starter, should be the little push on blade terminal on the starter itself, check how many volts the wire gives with the multimeter when you crank it. Any less than 12 and you probably have bad grounds or ignition contacts feeding it. While your in the bay tooling around its a great idea to add some heavier cables for the starter, alternator, and grounds. Just doing this made my starter turn over about twice the speed. Dismiss it all you want, but until you've done all these things you can't find out whats wrong, don't go assuming things and buying things you probably don't need like batteries, alternators, starters or anything until you've done the grounds up. In my experience, Ive never ever seen a broken toyota starter, ive seen sluggish old grotty ones, but never a completely dead one, and the 4ac starter that i use turns my 11:1 compression over just fine. A starter relay is a common attempted fix which is rarely needed. You only need a starter relay if you cannot start the car with the lights on and good grounds. Good luck.
-
If it goes from fine to just a click at random times, then its a bad ground. Put some big cables from starter to battery, body to block, battery to body and sand under them so theres good metal-metal contact. This will fix it.

Have a look in rides and projects, someone has a turbo 2.7 hilux motor in a ke30. Ask him what he did. Good luck.
-
Is it running hot? If its not you don't have a problem, and probably should spend the money on semislicks or brakes. My 20valve runs fine on a standard 4ac cooler, but I guess the 4k cooler is a bit smaller. Ive heard of skyline radiators, commodoore radiators, hyundai radiators, ae86 radiators, just about anything will work, but its hard to get the perfect radiator when getting one from another model with a different motor and cooling requirements. Id get a jap AE86 one if I was you, its made for a 4age rwd platform, or an ae82 twincam setup complete with thermos, if the outlets are in the right spots.

You know this is a corolla forum don't you? Rebuild it to lower compression if you can, a fat headgasket is a bad idea in most cases.

You can just chuck the vacuum gear away don't leave holes open or you just breath carbon monoxide Loop the remaining ones back in and or plug them with a screw and short piece of hose As far as I know thats about all you can do once the EGR and vacuum stuff comes off for modifications. While the heads off Id say throw the block away, cause if its full of water its probly well n truly shit-house by now. Id have to say a 4age is the best option. You have the mounts, clutch, gearbox, radiator all in the car already. By the time you get custom extractors made it will be not much more expensive. Drop the tank out, bung in an efi pump and surge tank and swap the motors. Will drift loads better than a 4ac. If you were just building a street car you could have a nice single overhead cam, twin carb monster, and it wouldnt bother you, but you want to drift don't you? What about a 4ag, a 4age on carbs? Just buy new genuine head bolts if you can. Good luck bud.
-
If it has the original te mounts and whatnot you will need to swap them for 4a stuff from an ae71. If they werent getting hard to find parts for a nice 3t build could be awesome, and rare in Australia, assuming thats where you are...

lol, ill honk next time. Yours is an easy car to spot. Also been spotting a black and white trueno coupe at the Ford dealer/Nightowl in Indro near my place, anyone from here?

I over took you on the Warrego highway a month or two ago, but i was in the work ute. Nice paint job.

Its gonna be unique in this country just about. can't wait to see it come together. -
Good on you mate, read before you ask and you'll be very popular. On another note, this thread is 4 years old. Best to check and see if a thread is even relevant before posting. don't be shy, put your car in rides and projects.
