  1. I'm pretty much resigned to the setup i have stated above. However for fact gathering purposes....... Anyone got any experience with how good series one RX7 calipers are? I have a complete series 1 rx7 in my back yard as a donor car for the engine and gearbox.
  2. Engineer has requested a brake upgrade. Budget is not an issue...but i like to get a good deal on most things. Will it see a race track? Highly doubt it. Are bigger brakes necessary for me to get the Engineers Certificate? Yes I just don't want to under do it, but at the same time I don't want to get ripped off. Hence why coilovers and decent brakes for $1000 is more appealing than brakes only for $1500.
  3. I've been in talks with another Vic member on his setup. I'm tending to lean to his setup at the moment. Corona Struts fitted with a coilover kit. Apparently Pedders did his for $500 supplied with springs. Corona LCA's. Peugeot 504 Rotors 276mm Hilux Calipers VN V8 1" Master Cylinder - Apparently a direct bolt in. All up, under $1000. I'm pretty sure the brakes will pull up hard enough, and the adjustable ride height is an added bonus. I'm sure there are better setups, but this will be quite sufficient.
  4. Isnt it a necessary conversion for some gearboxes. Or at least a simpler option rather than fabricating linkages and cables? I just assumed it was just a necessary evil.
  5. That wouldnt be the white car i would have seen with club plates at the Ballarat Airport club day?
  6. Good Work and Nice pics. I'm about to convert my KE30 to Hydraulic, so this was a big help. The 64mm Pivot point I assume (If i read correctly) is where the rod mounts to the actual clutch pedal?
  7. Some pictures of the product on a Mazda.
  8. I have been getting prices and opinions on a decent brake upgrade for my KE30 in anticipation of the 12A being dropped in soon. A bloke on Ausrotary is doing kits to suit Early Corollas, Mazdas etc. and I'm after peoples opinions/thoughts on whether this is worth it, or whether the corona strut converted to coilovers/hilux calipers setup would be the better option. The following is basically what he supplies. He confirms that i wont need to upgrade the master cylinder/booster for the calipers. Its alot of money, but i'm sure they will pull the car up pretty damn well. I'm just concerned that it may be a little bit of overkill. I've been told that the Corona upgrade will cost $900 ish. Thoughts?
  9. You make a good point though. Alot of other forums have a similar setup to what your talking about. I know that PGA (Pulsar Group Of Australia) have a very comprehensive tech section that is only available to donating members. I think it would be great if the FAQ tech contents could be bulked up a bit. I guess its just a matter of getting the technically minded people that have done conversions to write it up.
  10. Look up the top of the page for the FAQ. Is that what your talking about? FAQ
  11. Talk to an engineer. He will rule out all but 1 engine listed above in my opinion.
  12. Mine has: Black Wire - Negative Black Wire / Orange Stripe - Positive
  13. Maybe have a read of the new and improved FAQ. I have Dellortos on and don't have an issue with them. It was a little hard to find a workshop to rejet and tune them though. Webers generally are seen to be better quality. There are more workshops around that will rejet and tune webers. I don't know how true this is, but Webers are said to be better in the top end compared to Dellortos. Conversely Dellortos are said to be stronger in the lower rev range. I used to have SU's. Great carbs and can deliver some surprising results. Not many people in the know use or recommend Solex's. *insert paperweight gag from redwarf here* :)
  14. I will be having 2 exhausts made (maybe just different mufflers). When it gets engineered, it will be a nice quiet and standard 12A. Down the track, it will be a 12A BP with low restriction exhaust. Apparently a BP with a restrictive exhaust will go worse than a standard 12A.
  15. Sorry to be the one to burst your bubble, but the conversion is illegal. I doubt an engineer would allow it and Vicroads would certainly not even give you the time of day without engineers approval. I had a meeting with an Engineer on Friday. A 13B N/A is not possible into a KE30....let alone a 13BT. Therefor there is buckleys chance of a 13B being legal in a lighter KE11. I have been given the green light for a 12A conversion into my KE30. I think a 12A would be more a more likely option for you. However, i suggest you call a VASS before you even start thinking of what engine to graft into your car. If you plan to be one of these fools that does a conversion without the proper paperwork, then i hope for your sake that you don't smash into anyone because your insurance will be null and void.
  16. Yeah it will go ok.....once it gets treated to a Bridge Port job. :lolcry: I broke my 5K again, so i have my 4K with a HUGE cam in the rolla now. Ohh so sluggish. Good news is that the 62kw 5K will be up for sale soon.
  17. I noticed some Performance Challengers on Ausrotary. Its a bit of a drive, but bargin him down a little and they would look nice on your car. Ausrotary
  18. I can't complain yet about fuel consumption, but considering my 12A rotary conversion got approved 1hr ago.....I will soon have a reason to whinge. The owner of the engine I bought said he got 17L / 100kms when he was angry, and about 14L / 100kms on a good day.
  19. Just got home from the Engineers. The 12A conversion has just been given the go ahead. Enkleman Engineering in Braeside are very helpful and come highly recommended so far. I have a referral to a workshop around the corner from where i work in Sth Melbourne, so the project will be full steam ahead as soon as i can get the Rolla booked in. I got quoted $650-$700 for the final certificate which i thought was pretty fair, considering i have heard of people paying upwards of $800 for Engineering services.
  20. The glitter wheels on the Green Machine look the part in real life. When i first saw them at Peters, I thought....Hrmmm bit tacky. However now that they are on the car, I actually quite like them.
  21. A link to the last GOR cruise. GOR I missed the last one because it was my nieces 1st Birthday Party. I will most likely be going to her second, third...etc birthday parties instead of the annual cruise again aswell. Sorry guys and gals, but family comes first.
  22. Very Nice. Both of them! How did you go with the replacement gearbox?
  23. A 13B into a KE30 is illegal in VIC. So it would be illegal in a KE10 too. I have an appointment with an engineer Friday week to discuss a 12A N/A into my KE30. Hopefully it will be legal, as I only have his word that its quite possible. Nothing on paper just yet. Your best bet would be to call an approved VASS which can be found on the vicroads website.
  24. Then theres the case of having an oval light in a rectangle recess. Not a major issue. Just that it may look a bit tacky.
