What sort of tacho is it? From memory, mine is an autometer one I think and Red means power, black is earth, green is signal and white is illumination. Depending on how many cylinders you may have to join the orange coloured wires I think.

Are entries still open for this?

I was going to say tomato first but tomato was a fruit so I said carrot. :ban:

oli: Haha I'll have to take you up on that one day. I need a holiday :ban: Since the exhaust runs under the diff I had to cut the springs to make it fit. I'll be doing the fronts soon as well to make it sit even. Hopefully i can find some cheap rubber and I'll chuck a set of crappy 14x7's ive got on it. Teddy you can have a thrash any time man. I wont let you out until you've hit the limiter at least once hahaha :ban:

It was really. If you take out the 3 days I took to replace the bottom end it would have taken me 3 days to complete.

You've all seen it before in the other thread but I thought I would post it here so I could update it as the car progresses. For those who don't know, this car was bought for $250 off ebay. It started life as a lowly KE70 S trim povo pack. It was powered by a completly standard 4K in front of a 3 speed auto. Not very exciting at all. Here are some pics of when I bought it. It wasnt long (about 10 days) before I got bored of driving around with an ashmatic 4K and a slipping automatic transmission barely keeping up with traffic and getting bored to tears with not owning a manual car anymore. It was time to pull the running gear which used to reside in my old AE86. (Rust in Peace) The engine was essentially a standard bigport out of an imported Levin and the T50 gearbox was from the same car. I don't have many pics of the conversion but it started with pulling the old 4K and gearbox out. I then removed the KE70 engine crossmember and replaced it with the 4A engine crossmember from my AE86. I then went to work installing the hydraulic clutch pedal from my AE86 Luckily theres a little flat spot on the firewall for it to go, so with a little bit of love with the drill and pulling half the dash apart the pedal was installed. While the engine was still out of the car I took the chance to replace the bottom end with a new rebuilt bottom end I had as a spare forever. After much f@$king around swapping all the accessories and head over to the new bottom end its was bolted to the geabox and dropped into place. I had to extend two holes in the gearbox crossmember to make it bolt up. Next up was fitting the T-18 diff with the cusco LSD centre. Nothing really to mention it all bolts in and is essentially a $1300 locker. AE86 tailshaft went in no problems. Wiring was so much easier the second time around. When I first converted the sprinter I had no idea and had to get a mate to help me sort the wiring out. Armed with the knowledge from the first car this was piss easy. I started by cutting and extending the + and - coil wires from the drivers side to the passenger side of the engine bay. Then the loom was run and plugged in to the body and engine. Then it was a simple case of connecting this to that and it was done. All up theres about 10 or 15 wires I had to solder. A bit of fiddling with the auto park switch wiring and it was sorted. Luckily after 1 false start it cranked into life. Here are the most recent pics.

I present to you... Japanese Schoolgirl Ninja!

Yeah the front suspension is all interchangable although KE70 strut is slightly thinner. The coilovers out of my old AE86 now reside in a KE70 and it fits no problem. You will need to use AE86 steering arms if you do swap the strut. The only thing I'm not sure about is if AE86 front springs fit KE70 struts. Everything else should work.
-
Yes. AE86 rear struts and springs will fit a KE70. Swaybars, panhard rods, 4-link will work as well. Even the front struts are interchangeable.

4K and auto makes mumblezzz a very dull boy.

Cool panel van! I remember my parents used to have one of these when I was really young. There was a baby seat bolted in behind the passenger seat for me to sit in. :)

Nice work! I feel you pain. I'm half way through my KE70 Auto to 4age manual coversion. :D

Its simple really. I bet theres not one person in this thread who doesent like to drop the clutch and kick it sideways. Some people like it more than others.

Thought it would be interesting to see some rollaclub members cars transition from stock to Rock! :P I'll start with my old 86. Here we see it in its stockness glory... Well it did have the miss matched wheels goin. (taken on my 18th birthday BTW) I learnt alot about car control and had lots of fun on the way... Then tradgedy struck! I blew the 4ac. boohoo I was devestated..... really.... for about .001 of a second. So then began the rebuild with twincam power as well as a diet. fast faward a few months and it was back and ready to hit the track. A defect forced me to paint the car again to make it look half presenable and legal. So I celebrated my first track outing with the new paint job by doing this. But a mere wall would never stop me from doing what I love. So 85 bucks later it was business as usual. Until one fateful night when a camry decided it wanted to invade the same space as my sprinter and this happened. So there you have it. The hachi story. I kind of miss it now its gone even though I never showed it any respect and thrashed it within an inch of its life. Edit:I suck at linking

No turn wing upside down and cut to fit front of car. Kind of hard to visualise but my mate has done the same thing to the front of his Suzuki K Van.

Its not a black CA18 86 anymore, but yes, Simon. Well, thats how he comes across to me anyway after chattin to him a few times. He's now got a Powder Blue 20V AE86 thats supposedly looking more (jap-spec) than his other rides. Check out memebers rides on toymods for it. If I were to build a drift car, I know I'd put some individuality into it and not try to copy something thats already been done to death. And no Mumblezz, not you :P He doesent come across that way to me. I know Simon quite well and he's always been cool to talk to even back when I was a hachi noob. Also remember he can't always hear you properly and when your at the track your more focused on driving and being friendly and chatty to everyone that walks up to you is kind of at the back of your mind when your trying to find who the f@$k borrowed your cross brace.

AE86 duck tail wing. Seriously.
-
and who might that be?
-
Thats rather rude isnt it. Especially in a gay magazine such as hot 4s. Fast 4s is the lesser but has fallen into the same basket. Zoom bores me and I take no interest in drag racing/dyno queens. The only mags I buy is either drift battle or HPI and thats only if I'm in it.

Ke70 Suspension Upgrade... Anyone Done This?
mumblezzz replied to rjenman's topic in General Mechanical
ST205 celica GT4 fronts and Suzuki Sierra fronts in the rear baby. f@$k QLD transport, stiff, low and short stroke all the way. No one sees the underside of your car anyway so scrape it everywhere. :D Post may be induced by alchohol.... -
Doh! Working... :y:

Excellent! Nothing an angle grinder can't fix.
