spotted a guy in Melton this morning driving a dark mauve ke20. looked very much like mine. average body, similar wheels.... turns out he's from ringwood :y: i got out of my car when we were stopped at the lights (i was behind him in the ke55) and had a very brief chat with him. dropped "rollaclub.com" at the end of the convo as the light went green.

well, i'm gonna have to pull out of this (my 30% anyway) we're down to one car at home cos we loaned the 55 to my parents while theirs goes in for (cosmetic) repairs. so all my coin is/has gone into the ms65 to get that on the road asap, so it should have plates on monday(!!!!!!) provided friday goes well. rest assured, the 65 will be at hiroshima in all it's pimping glory. -
Scary Experiences In Wet And Windy Conditions!!
dfunkt replied to ke71-rolla's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
not first hand, but my courier mate saw a bike topple over going across the west gate bridge in melb. one second upright, the next he was lying on the road with his bike. -
Sumitomo do whitewall tires straight from the factory. Two sizes available in a 14", 185 and 195 (i think they're both x/75/14), was told the whitewall is 25mm-30mm. TheTireFactory (TTF) are doing them for me, i believe they are also over there in SA. dF

that's exactly it, some people have luck finding cars....others not-so-much. i scored a lovely crochet throw rug on the weekend, one my mum made back in the late 70's. correct vintage for the car, and fits perfectly over the seat. . everything has been officially booked for RWC. new springs all round will be going in tuesday. unsure how much lower to go, will have some opinions (partner and mate) with me when i drop it off in the morning. whitewall tires are booked in for thursday, $410 driveaway. engine will be cleaned tuesday night. hopefully there's no fresh leaks i need to fix. and the diff pinion seal i'll get the mechanics to fix when they check it off for RWC.

but that's a series one.........no-one likes those :) :bash: it's just the way it is, some people can find them, others can't. just like i'd love a stout (or a stout lite) but i've only even seen rusty shells on farms :y:

have had some success over the weekend. booked in for springs on tuesday, tires and wheel alignment will be booked for thursday and friday the mechanics can put in the diff pinion seal and sign-off on my RWC ;) will clean the engine one night this week, just gotta organise it around my 10 hrs of tafe work i gotta do ;)

where bouts you moved to??

so, RWC wasn't too bad. got knocked back for wiper blades and water squirters, oil leaks (he just wants me to clean the engine), new front tires, rear springs sagged too much and diff pinion seal leaking. whitewall will be going on the front (most likely rear as well) and lowered springs going in too ;) earlier than i wanted to, but it's nice how things kinda work. venetian might go on later. but in the mean time, tissue box with doily/dog cover, should have a crochet rug to throw over the rear seats and some XXX mints for the center console.

the auto box from an AE71 i'd imagine would be the go.

haha....funny you should say that. i had to adjust the seat and mirror when i got in this morning as she was the last to drive it. she took our housemate for a drive sunday night around 9:30, went to the shops and parked miles from the entrance. a dude in a ford maverick with trailer decides to park right next to her.....bloody tosser. luckily he didn't damage the crown. it's been blocked in every night by either the 55 or the housemate's magna. it should be in the carport, but the 20's there awaiting work before i sell it.

one of the fronts is a little squealy, and it locks the right rear under HARD braking. else, i couldn't fault the long, slow, underpowered car/drive home. and i'm yet to see what the taillights look like when activated, as i've been the one in the drivers seat everytime ;) ;)

dropped the car off on my way to work for a RWC, won't know until after lunch the outcome. there was a 3 week wait with my regular mechanic/RWC shop. i'm hoping this other place is just as kind. i've been there a few times seeking qualification on vehicle standards and regulations, and they were extremely helpful and switched on then, so i haven't got too many fingers and toes crossed.

cam, there's a ride thread, will update it more in a fortnight after i can spend some time driving it. i won't be doing an engine swap for a long time (read: until this one f@$ks out or the car gets majorly damaged) and if i do, it'll probably get an LS1 or 2JZ

no pics, but i spotted an early import prius last weekend. they look soooooo much nicer than the current 'futuristic' shape.
-
while it does pain me to say it, it will stay as a stock 4m and auto. it 'might' get extractors and electronic dizzy, but that's about it. it's in way too good condition to cut it up to fit a JZ.

there's another one in Vic atm... http://tccav.org.au/forwant and we'll see how friday goes as to whether a $500 buy is a good deal or not.

i'm booked in on friday for a RWC. here's hoping they don't knock me back for anything.

Well, after seeing an MS75 at Picnic at Hanging Rock earlier this year, and my partner falling in love with it, it has always been in the back of my mind that we would own an MS65 or MS75. when Adam (silverra23) posted about a one owner MS65 for $500 ono, i knew this would be a great chance of bringing one into the family. we (myself and Kate) drove out there together to check it out and after turning the key to hear it fire immediately, it was a no brainer. we left a deposit on it and drove back the 1 hour 30 mins home to count the days until we picked it up a week later (yesterday). the drive back was trouble-free, not a thing went wrong (except for the guy driving a new civic who decided to merge when he was parallel with us, i discovered the horn works and is quite loud). now, a bit about the car (from the gent we bought it off) his dad purchased the car new back in 1975, and it was their primary car. when dad passed, it was converted to an auto so that his widow could drive the car. but being a base model, no power-steering meant it was much to hard for her, so it was parked away in the garage with about 74,500km on the engine and 50km on the 'new' auto. it has a few little knocks and scrapes around the corners and along the passenger side, and some rust is starting to show along the lower edge of the rear screen, but that's all able to be easily remedied. the interior is absolutely stunning (and i haven't taken any pics of this just yet). there's no splits in any of the seat bases or uprights, the dash is uncracked, the rear seat-top is still soft and showing no signs of hardening or sun damage, the rear carpets are like new and the fronts are looking a slight bit worn. the glovebox lid is showing signs of old age, the AM radio is not working and neither is the retractable aerial and the petrol flap badge/handle has broken off the studs (the studs are being glued back this week as i've delegated that job to dad). it'll need a detail as their are many scratches from the bushes that lined the driveway, both down the side and along the roof, which again is easily taken care of. i have a month long permit for RWC and rego purposes, to make sure i can get everything organised while still working 5 day weeks. and enough words, here's some pics from after i brought it home (the last two covered in rain) and earlier today after a bath with my current ke20. dF
