I've got a panelvan with a 5k now. ;) Sounds soooo good... it's got extractors and a slightly bigger exhaust. Can't wait to chuck it in... I bought some Autosol metal polish like suggested on my thread about cleaning my engine, ordered a rear main seal and a timing cover seal as suggested by Chrisandliz and a tarp.. just because I will be selling the shell and I don't want a corolla to get wrecked! Driving it back from Todd's house was a LOT better than I thought it'd be. I was worried that it wouldn't make it but it's mechanically sound... just noisy inside the car cause there's a lot of shit in the back. ;) Chris (Chrisandliz) is helping me with the conversion. I will chuck in the radiator from the panelvan into my ke70 soon since it's newer than mine. Woohoo!

She drives fine... :D

What ended up happening with this? My dad was putting in a wardrobe in the study and he screwed up the cat5 cable in the process so I couldn't get on the net to see if it was still on... but I posted that last post before that all happened... I wanted to go but wasn't sure of how many people were actually gonna go.
-
Hope it went well Chris. If it's only us two going then I probably won't go hey..
-
Yeah I can't do morning either... got some frisbee throwing to do with my gf! Haha. It's fun ok! Oh ok so not the one in midland then.. haha. The one near the big apartments. Gotcha.
-
Which Maccas? There are like 2 on great eastern that I can think of... you mean the one near belmont right? What time are we meeting up? Is this still happening or?
-
Not really an option with the hours I work.. I tried emailing them but got no reply. Cheers for that Chris! How do I apply for it? Do I need to get a form from the DPI office? That's so cheap!
-
Hey. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about a day pass for cars that are not licensed?
-
I'd say there are less corollas in Perth, and probably more car-related places over east (importers, etc.). However, I'd prefer to work in Perth just because it's less busy and I just like it.

Sunday is perfect. I'll stay for a while.
-
So it runs fine then? Why is it for sale in NSW?
-
Is it yours Brian? It's really cheap... I wonder if I should get it? :(

Around the city sounds cool. :)

Yeah but how much is a mig? And what else would you need to finish the job? Paint, etc.? The other thing is that I probably will never use a mig again... can you rent them? I'm willing to do it don't get me wrong... after I fixed my heater I feel a lot more confident to do things myself... but I don't want to spend weeks trying to get it right and end up paying too much or having it come out crap.
-
Probably buy other things first... I have to find a motor. :( I haven't done anything to the car yet just new wheels.
-
Cheers for the advice guys. Will make sure I can have access to Dad's car if I need it. :lolcry: Just so I'm aware... what are some things to look out for when buying an engine? I want to get one in good condition haha.
-
Yeah I hear you talking about that stuff a lot... what is it?
-
Oh good I thought it had to be more than 100... So is it best to find a van or get one imported?
-
Why are they so bad? Is it just the fact that it's rust and it's shit or that they're tricky to do? I'll most likely be keeping this unless I end up buying an already finished rolla... so I think I'll pay someone to do it. So when I'm going to pick up the car, ask him what areas he fixed? Yep. Everything was like that when I bought it. I've had it since like... the start of the year and I've almost always had it undercover. Tbh, I'd rather fork out the cash hey haha. It's a lot easier because I just want to get it fixed.. I'd rather be spending money on the engine or something than rust. ;)
-
Cheers. :lolcry: Just to be sure, it is about a 100cc increase, isn't it? Also, what cars have 5ks in them? Is it the wagons?
-
Cheers for the lengthy reply! I figure I really don't need the power of a 4AGE and the hassle when I can just get an extra 100cc from a 5k and it will be an easier conversion... I could probably do it in a day, right? If I was to get a 5k, all the suspension, brakes, extractors etc. would all be the same (as it would be for a 4k?)
-
I'm just wondering about some things... Brakes If I get bigger and better brakes for my 1982 ke70 sedan, will they be usable if I do any conversion? E.g if I do a 4k to 5k conversion or a 4k to 4AGE conversion, will I have to find new brakes? Suspension If I lower my car all round with some shockies or whatever the hell they are called, will they also be "post-conversion safe"? I'm wondering because I've started to earn good money but not enough for a conversion and I only want to do small things to the car first such as brakes, suspension, extractors, etc. I'm just curious what I can do now without worrying about future issues... Cheers!

Ok... there is more rust than I remembered there being... Didn't want to take the duct tape off since it's preventing leaks (sorta) and I don't have any more of it... This is at the side of the bottom of the car at the on/towards the rear fenders. Beneath/behind the bumper and down the side of the boot. The rust in the second photo (on the right) actually makes a hole that you can see from outside the car... :lolcry: Fuel bowser (is that what it's called?) and underneath boot seal. Seeing these photos, are all of your opinions still the same? Would you say I should still try it myself or just pay someone to do it?
-
I second that motion. Will get some now... Gas torch sounds like a good alternative? Mind you I am not even aware of the cost of a mig-welder so I dunno haha. :lolcry:

Hey. I've got some rust on my car that I wanted to get removed and was wondering if anyone in Perth knows someone who would be willing to do it (for a price)? Or if anyone on here in Perth can do it (for a price)? Cheers. :)
