Ahhh we have a winner. Well done GTS-T Sedan. It was a pretty bad pic I'll give ya that. Someone has made it so that the speakers are moulded into the parcel shelf making them sit higher than usual. It's the first time I've seen anything like it and they've done a top job with it too. Looks awesome in person.

Nope, both 6x9's. Cheers crispy

Guess again ry-dogg. Once you notice it's pretty gangsta. Pretty sure it's not a lumpy cam, the guy didn't give me any details. All he said was a 'bigger' cam.

Hello everyone. So I've been wanting to get a corolla project for a while and then this little beauty popped up. This 1980 ke55 which belonged to a good mate of mine that he wanted to do up but never got the chance. Bought it on Saturday. It's a 4k with 5 speed. The engine has done less than 10,000kms since it's rebuild. I spoke with the original owner who did the work to it and was a little bit hazy with the details but he told me that it has: Balanced Crankshaft Some sort of lumpy cam Bored out 20thou Head work And of course a 32/36 Webber :hmm: It has lowered king springs on the front and adjustable shockers in the rear. The interior in this thing is immaculate. And very very brown lol. It's also got at least $500 worth of pioneer stereo equipment all wired up. And an immobiliser, but i'm yet to figure that thing out. The body is the only thing that lets the car down, my mate hacked at it with a grinder and removed the lower portion of the rear quarter but other than that this thing is straight as a dime. Came with good condition bonnet, left hand guard and front splitter. It's had some really bad bog work done to it from a couple of years back when me and my mate thought we knew what we were doing.. The engine bay has been sprayed in firefox silver but I'm not too keen on painting the whole car that colour though. Ideas?? Plans for it are, fix the rear quarter, weld in a new one. Straighten up the body and then respray  Here's some pics... Sorry there is none with the car complete, got carried away and started stripping it before I bought a new camera. Once I clean this engine bay it will look top notch! Just a little bit messy, needs a vaccuum. Tastefully done door trims i reckon. Rear quarter cut out by previous owner. New rear quarter :y: First person to notice something odd about this parcel shelf wins a prize. Spare panels: Lowered springs And the best part about it all is the price I paid for it... $500!!! Enjoy, Jason

Oh sorry, i thought you just made a typo lol. And I was just saying that I didn't think that the rear bumper you are talking about is that crash hot. It's alright, but not the best. Wasn't trying to be negative at all. This thread is a great idea. Oh, and you forgot about the 5k in one of the ke55's, one of the tan ones with a rusted out body.

Meh, it's not that straight. Ke36 at Lonsdale? I was there on sunday and didn't see no ke36.

As soon as I opened this thread and looked at the first pics, first words that came out of my mouth were 'Oh no...' lol. Sounds like you got yourself quite a nice daily here 7shades. I've always wondered what these old volvos are like because i'm pretty sure they are the most common cars I see for under $1000. Might have to look into getting one. :S

The spray can etch primer won't do a sufficient job i'm afraid, especially if it's acrylic. Sometimes you can get away with it but not often. Secondly, wax & grease remover is extremely cheap so I would highly recommend using it. I don't know who told you to use brake cleaner or thinners but I don't think they really know what they are talking about i'm afraid lol. Pretty sure brake cleaner has silicone in it too so that's just stupid.

Rub down the old paint with a maximum grit of 240. 320 grit would be ideal though. If you can get your hands on some 2pak primer it would be best and ensure that you have a good, even finish. Before you put primer on it though, be sure to wax & grease thoroughly. Best way to do so is to have two rags, one soaked and one dry. Go over the area you are going to paint with the soaked rag then wipe off with the dry rag. Leave the primer for at least 24 hours before sanding. You can choose whether to put guide coat on or not. Sand the primer down with 320. When you are ready to paint, blow down the car, and wax & grease the same way as before. But once you have done that, get a tac rag for the micro dust that you have left behind, but only GLIDE over the primer, don't put too much weight on it. After all that it'll be ready for colour. Hope this helps. P.s. Respirators are for pussies :S

I freakin love Dr. Pepper!! It's funny, all these soft drinks used to be sold at pharmacies 100 or so years ago as a 'pick me up' afternoon medicine. Now everyone knows just how bad the stuff is for ya.

Whats also quite hilarious is the name of the journalist. Stuart Cumming :)

Bahahahaha!!! You are a funny man my friend. lol -
Sounds like with the way you treated it, it doesn't miss you back.

Wasn't doubtin him, just wanted to know how he found out. Being a Ford man it's sad to see Lowndes and Whincup going to Holden. But the V8 supercars isn't about red vs blue anymore. It's all about the drivers. Did everyone notice that at Bathurst on the weekend they had the names of the drivers scrolling across the bottom of the screen and not whether they are Ford or Holden. Just goes to show that what brand they drive doesn't concern them. It's about time Holden won something anyway :jamie:

How do you know that is the future 888 shell?
-
I'll give all that a shot tomorrow and see if I have any luck. At least we are getting there, slowly. And yes I can hear some sort of 'clicking' noise when I switch on the ignition.
-
I think the charcoal looks tough, but if I was doing them I would have done black bolts going around the cross with black inserts around the wheel nuts. Hard to explain it but if I had a photoshop program I'd show ya.

Thats what we did, checked the power going to the glow plugs with the ignition on and there was nothing. Which makes me think that the relay is busted. If I knew where the damn thing was I'd check it out and if it was fine then I would replace the glow plugs. Cheers Jason

For some reason I thought of banana milkshakes when I saw this little beast... Maybe call it banana milk? Or a shorter version, banilk?? lol
-
When I tested the glow plugs they had no spark, and that was directly into the head. Do you know where the relay is for the glow plugs 7shades? Cause I have a strong feeling thats the problem.
-
Ok we have tested the glow plugs and we got no spark. So that means something else is wrong. I am wondering whether it is the relay thats gone but I have no idea where it is in this thing. Any way of finding it? Thanks heaps for you help guys. Cheers Jason

Nah I have all ignition lights except for the one that comes on just before you start it up. The globe? one. And I've replaced almost all the fuses anyway.
-
Hey guys, I'm having trouble starting up my hilux. It hasn't been started in quite a while and now doesn't want to fire up. It cranks over but then nothing. It's a 2.4 Diesel and the globe lights aren't coming up when i switch on the ignition. I've checked all the fuses and I've replaced the busted ones but still nothing. If anyone has any experience with these hilux's please help me out. Oh and I should probably mention that I replaced the ignition barrel but I doubt it has anything at all to do with why it won't start. Cheers Jason

haha I remember one time when me and my mate were about 12 years old we were down in the creek just down the road from our house, and we found what would have had to be a 12 inch dildo sitting there. We just stood there and looked at it in amazement like 'WTF is this thing doing here'. We started poking it with a stick thinking that maybe it was alive? We left it and were down at the creek the next day but it was gone... weird.
