Road trip was good, just a boring up-&-back run, I left at 00:30 on the Saturday & got home at 22:30 on the Sunday. Out of that 46 hours, I estimate that I spent roughly 40 of them in the drivers seat (slept in car at roadside stops, feet up on dash, quite comfy actually) & the odd thing is, I don't hate the car after it. :laff: Like I said, big thumbs up to azza91, I may have only messaged him on the Friday afternoon...

Got a link to that particular kit Aaron? The other most favoured options are quad-CBR900 items (little pricey though) or a single Weber 32/36 downdraught for simplicity's sake. I've had a chat to SQ Engineering about intake manifold flanges & he can make me some so I can have a go at making the intake. I could buy one if the Weber gets the go-ahead, but that's no fun. :) I've managed to nut out the distributor/ignition system (can use a tweaked 4AGE item or my 2AC distributor) so I won't need the EFI wiring& the fuel pump/regulator are easily sorted.

I went to AMX in Keilor for the helmet, marked down from $160 to just under $100. :) If I were riding a motorbike on the road, I'd spend a lot more than that on a helmet. But as my own mother would kill me long before a bike gets a chance, it shall serve its intended purpose nicely.

Mother of..... :blinks: Factory engine internals? Keen to see some dyno-sheets from this little sleeper beast!

For specials it's obviously mandatory, but no, not required. However I plan on doing events that do require one (hill-climb for instance) so I figured that it'd pay to have one handy. :)

Sweet! Not so much on the throttle/advance bugs. :( I have a similar list: oil/filter change, adjust handbrake & sort rims/tyres. Also hanging out for this! Also got off my arse & stopped having to borrow a friends spare motor-cross helmet.

Update time: Gokai has sat in the shed as per usual, haven't touched her. An increase in responsibilities in life is temporarily seeing to that, once I get on top of it all... :rolls: Blue Thing on the other hand... Those who know me know my stance on carburettors, I'm not taking it all back, just that I'm willing to admit that they are suitable for some applications. So, for various reasons, the 4AGE I recently acquired is going to be stripped down, rebuilt, converted from EFI to carb & slotted into Blue Thing. No massive compression ratios, no stupidly-lumpy camshafts, just standard internals. I'm finding that choosing the carb/s is the hardest part, clearance for twin side-draughts is tight but do-able, but then the motorbike carb option also appealing. Adaptors are available for certain types, but in the case of the bike option it's a little bit of work to make one. Basically I'm just having trouble making up my mind. :laff:

Nice broken-things count, dare I ask whereabouts you got airborne at? I'm hoping I won't have to, but if anything does break, I have a shed full of TC parts to replace/upgrade Blue Thing with. :) Thankyou coln72 & Redwarf for the tips, I'll make sure to suss out what tyre pressures the others are running while I can take advantage of being the 'new guy'. I'm hoping you're right R, I'll do my best to uphold some FWD pride!

Look up twistednederland videos on YouTube, you'll see if things are good or bad. ;)

Oh yeah...that dude :S

I'm not planning to either, having fun & not breaking things is my agenda. If I don't come dead last, bonus! This I'd love to see/passenger ride in!

Bump up the pressures for tarmac, drop pressures for dirt? They still seem like a good bunch of people, although I suspect that their willingness to help may drop off if they start getting beaten. It would be awesome if Stu enters, as then there'd be potential to take some points away from Batch. As I'm FWD, I'm in a different category in the VMC, but for the Theo Wintels Trophy it's a case of an all-in-brawl. :)

Linky no worky. :(

Sweet, Rollaclub represent! The Mount Gambier event may be fun to get to & from... :blinks: Speaking of brakes, I'd better stock up on some bits & have a talk with my tyre guy. It's quite easy to chew a new set in one tarmac event as I found out the hard way.

Glad I read the edited version, congratulations to you & your wife Tom! Hope everyone is safe, happy & healthy. Your excuse for not working on the car beats anything I can come up with! :laff:

Yes, depending on what you have in mind you may be limited by the 1bar internal MAP sensor, but you can get a 3bar add-on item. At least, when I last checked them that was the case. :)

About a year & a half ago, our Club President had a bit of a rant about teenagers not being skilled on our roads, then getting their licence & subsequently killing themselves on our roads. He passed on his article to CAMS, as he was a little ticked off with watching all the road deaths on the news etc. Well, together with what others have been saying to them, J Race has been set up as a way to introduce some basic car driving skills to these teenagers in a relatively safe environment. TCCAV together with the Ford Four Car Club will be jointly hosting the first round of the Victorian Motorkhana Championship & the first J Race sessions for 2013 at the Werribee Motorkhana complex, Gilman Reserve. This is an important and effective way to teach the youth in our club some basic skills. Just quietly, I had no problem with handing the keys to BT to the 15yr old son of a Club Member & hopped in the passenger seat. I'm not pretending to be an instructor, just wanted to give him a go, give him a taste so he'll bug his Dad for his own car. :P I myself am not a teenager, those days are long gone. But like most people, I probably think that I'm a better driver than I really am. So to build & improve upon some skills (while having some of the most fun you can have with pants on), I will be entering as many VMC events as I can make it to this year, whether they be dirt or tarmac. The first round is on Sunday 24th February, spectators are more than welcome to come down for a look. I'll try to get some photos & video on the day & make sure to upload it for peoples amusement. VMC Calender I'll keep this thread updated with results etc throughout the season, if you want/need more details on an event just send me a PM & I can point you in the right direction. By the way, I'll be doing this in my daily driver, should be fun! :D

I didn't happen to catch the name of the owner of the Civic, if it helps at all he was teaching two young boys (maybe 12 & 14yrs old?) how to drive in it. They didn't do too badly either! Got my CAMS Licence in the mail today. :D

Playing copycat here, Picasa seems an okay online hosting site. I'm not an experienced photographer, I just point & shoot so they won't be as good. ;) https://picasaweb.google.com/m/viewAlbum?uname=117427185344396044531&aid=5843231652438676049&start=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCLOdhsvq3t65_gE

How'd things go on the return trip? I thought my car didn't like hills! Anywho, here's some of my favourite shots I took on my wanderings, the rest are currently uploading. Will post a link when finished. :)

The trophy is for the years Motorkhana Champion, I believe it was Theos widow who presented it last year. I knew nothing of all of this, got a bit of a crash course in Club/Motorkhana history that night! I didn't know Theo, but it seems appropriate. Batch in a suit that's not a race suit? :blinks:

If you think it hasn't changed much, you should see the before & after photos from the working bee kickn5k & I helped out at. :P But yes, she's still a grassy, dusty, slightly cracked surface with the occasional rock that thuds its way down your floorpan & scares the crap out of you. With all the housing development going on down that way, I feel I'd best enjoy the grounds while I can. Indeed he was, all of the "more experienced" participants were great people provided you approached them with the right attitude. They'd take you for a drive if you wanted, or jump in your car & give some feedback on your driving. Should've come down Stu, it was an absolute riot! I only washed Blue Thing last night as the dust was beginning to cake & fall off. :laff: I've gotta get him to tell me some of these stories.....after I get him to teach me how to drive! Note to self: Re-read names of winners of the Theo Wintels Trophy. If people have nothing taking up the 24th of February, it's not a bad spectator sport..... http://www.tccav.org...CC-Sup-Regs.pdf I hadn't planned on it, but someones gotta try & take some points off Batch so he doesn't win three years in a row. :P
