  1. I've had this happen before, the distributor shaft seized up & as it's driven off the camshaft, it got messy. Shattered gear teeth & distorted the camshaft (which I've since made into a lamp), my mechanic charged me just over $300 for repairs. Bear in mind that was over 5 years ago & I was on "good terms" with my mechanic, so it will be far cheaper to repair this yourself especially since you've made it this far. :y:
  2. Your reverse switch is located on the gearbox, see picture below, circled in red. To test, disconnect the switch then bridge the two terminals on the wiring loom plug. Switch on the ignition & check the reverse lights, if they work the switch is stuffed, if they don't the problem lies elsewhere. Edit: I'm presuming manual gearbox here...
  3. I attended a Group 5 Twilight event in Werribee yesterday, didn't compete, just acted as a timekeeper (brought my own dust-mask). But I did have a chat to a few people about the Deni Autocross... Damn you people & your convincing arguments regarding levels of fun! *shakes fist* So, making arrangements to camp at the grounds or at a caravan park within staggering distance of the RSL Club (quoting BdB on that one) to keep costs down. Thinking of heading up on the Friday night & driving back the Sunday afternoon. Entry forms & Supp Regs for the Deniliquin Autocross Event can be found by clicking the links & a Google Maps location of the event grounds can be found here.
  4. I spent so many years building cars, boats, helicopters...I could've made something like that. :D
  5. If it's just the one side that doesn't work, odds are something has broken/become disconnected from the mechanical-arm arrangement that is underneath the plastic vents at the base of the windshield. Couple of screws & off they come. :)
  6. Being a serial poster again... WMMH - Scoring a free 22" LCD flat-screen monitor for my computer to replace the 15 year old 14" CRT. I love hard waste collection time!
  7. From what I can tell from driving past, it doesn't have an engine in it. I have no idea what drivetrain that is, unsure about suspension too, seems to be someones work-in-progress.
  8. Spotted this a while ago, only just got photos of it.
  9. Point Cook, Keilor, Wiliamstown...we're catering for the Westies early on this year! We tend to stay within the metropolitan area, but if you've got a great venue to suggest, fire away! :)
  10. *insert congrats on the sex jpeg here* Seriously though, congratulations, hope all goes well! Pity about the Corona. :( WMMH - Knowing that I need new tyres on the daily soon, but haven't exactly started shopping around yet. Got a message out of the blue asking me if I'd like a set of wheels with near new tyres for not a lot of money... Corolla Gods, I thank ye'. :hail:
  11. I'll stop, was intended as a light-hearted joke & has been deleted. I'm sorry.
  12. I can try... :) Keep in mind I've got the orange top injectors, upgraded fuel pump, running 10psi on a t25. - Orange top injectors, what are these/What size/cc's per minute are they? What ECU are you currently running? The stock 4AGE ECU cannot handle this setup. Speedo tach not workin - Is the speedometer drive cable connected to the gearbox, to the back of the instrument cluster & isn't broken? The standard 4AGE tachometer will not work properly with a turbo-conversion, this can solved by fitting a 4AGZE instrument panel. Running very very rich (blows black smoke and backfires) - Not sure, going to go with over-fueling/incorrect ignition timing for this one. engine codes I pulled: -12- This means no RPM signal,(no Ne signal to the ECU within 2 seconds of cranking or no G signal to the ECU when engine speed between 500rpm & 4000rpm) check your distributor/igniter circuit. -21- Problem with the Oxygen Sensor circuit. -41- Problem with the Throttle Position Sensor circuit. -42- Problem with Vehicle Speed Sensor (no SPD signal when engine speed above 2800rpm). -43- No starter (STA) signal to the ECU until engine speed reaches 800rpm with vehicle stationary..
  13. I re-evaluated my opinions on K motors when I heard a red open-wheeler with a 3K screaming its lungs out down the main straight at the Phillip Island Historics a few years back. ;) I still have trouble telling the bloody difference between models though. :( Yep, he'll be the Course Coordinator on the day, this is his baby. Edit: Supp Regs for the VMC Round 3 at Deniliquin can be found here.
  14. I realise it's a bit late in the year as we have already kicked off the CC&D Calendar with the event in Point Cook, but here's a list of confirmed dates & locations for the Toyota Car Club of Australia's Cars, Coffee & Donuts social events. Usually a good turn out to these events numbers-wise & in the variety of cars that attend. Starting time 8.30am & we generally start to finish up events at 10.30am. As always, TCCAV does not condone anti-social behaivour in any form, so please leave silly antics at home. April 21st - SkyHigh, Mount Dandenong - For Google Maps Location, click here. May 19th - Leaping Lizard, Brimbank Park - For Google Maps Location, click here. June 16th - RMS Titanic Theatre Restaurant, Williamstown - For Google Maps Location, click here. July 21st - Winterfest, Caribbean Markets & Gardens, Scoresby - For Google Maps Location, click here. August 18th - McDonalds Carpark, Preston - For Google Maps Location, click here. September 15th - Jells Park, Wheelers Hill (enter via Waverley Road) - For Google Maps Location, click here. October 27th - Autobarn, Epping - For a Google Maps Location, please click here. *Please note that new dates will be added to this post as dates/locations are confirmed.
  15. This is why we never see you out at other events Jimi, you're always out there in an autocross or rally! Top stuff! :y: Good luck up in Bendigo today, have heard that event is a lot of fun.
  16. I'm sorry Colin, old habits from bitter KE70 memories breaking out. I assure you I've been brought around regarding the K engines, right motor, right chassis etc  I knew I'd stuff up Godfreys code Stu, sorry... *facepalm* Details will be in the newsletter & the forms can be found here. A CAMS L2 NS is the minimum licence requirement for insurance purposes, also bring your club-membership card. :y:
  17. They almost didn't, I pulled up at home just as the postman walked back to his van after knocking on the front door & finding noone home. He proceeded to open the back door of the van & slung the bag in, it hit the wall separating the cabin from the cargo area before it hit the floor. Mr Postman got verbally torn a new arsehole by me then & there, his details taken & a formal complaint made to AusPost this morning. Also, this arrived today courtesy of LittleRedSpirit. Who did a great job of making sure that even if Auspost played soccer with it, it would arrive unharmed. :y:
  18. Edit: Note to self: No more K-motor jokes. Sorry Colin, I'll behave. Yeah that WD stuffed me & two of the flags I collected on the first test, which was a simple straight slalom. That should've been my reminder to wake up & pay attention, but you live, you learn. TCCAV is hosting a TCCAV/MR2OC members-only motorkhana practice day the week after Deni, Although there will be no timing/places on the day, the plan is to have some tandem tests run towards the end of the day for some side-by-side action. I can think of a KE10 I wouldn't mind having a crack at... ;)
  19. I seem to be spending so much time working on it & actually driving it, seems justifiable. :P Do it! :y: Those plans, well: take the 3-rib bigport 4AGE on the left, pull it apart, check internals, replace/machine as needed, then stuff it back together with the bits on the right. Then add those carbys & get the bugger to start/run in Blue Thing. A big thankyou goes to azza91 for helping me out with these bits over a period of time, the first TRD anything I've ever owned as well. :) Planning to not go silly on compression ratio or camshaft choice, I just want a solid, standard-ish engine that can handle some enthusiastic driving. Some may laugh, but a 4A engine makes enough power to keep me happy. More work to motor means more money spent as well, unless it's needed for reliability I'll pass, things can get silly quite easily!
  20. Excellent choice sir! :y:
  21. The results from Pakenham came through, I think the home ground advantage/beginners luck definitely came into play in Round 1! This time around I placed 36th out of 51 outright, 35th on handicap, 14th out of 19 in Class A & 3rd out of 5 in Novice Class. Mind you, the winner of Novice Class was driving a Westfield FW, bit of a notch above BT. We ran 8 courses in total & I managed to WD once & hit 4 flags all up, which probably didn't help the results but *meh*. Fun was had.
  22. I'll have to see how I go for both time & finances, but will try as it comes so highly recommended. :y: I'll get one of those Go-Pro thingies once I'm not spending so much on car parts, but for now the old CyberShot will have to do.
  23. A pretty good day out in Pakenham today, sunny with a nice breeze to carry away the dust & the surface was similar to Weribee, just more grass & less cracks. More bloody flies though... I didn't get many photos as they threw a few 'interesting' courses at us this time & I was spending most of my spare time learning where the heck I was meant to go. I know I clipped at least two flags this time & had a WD (wrong direction), but not really fussed. I know how I stuffed up, so will try not to do that again. :) I know I'm also no motorsport photographer & was using my phone camera as it's a PITA to remove the camera from the car & align it all putting it back all the time. But, enjoy! The rest I managed can be found here. Editing some of the videos to remove the boring waiting bits, will post up a link when they're uploaded. Not just in-car footage either, managed to film some of the other guys this time! A big thanks to kickn5k & webers4x48 for coming down to take a look & also for being an impromptu pit-crew for me! Much appreciated guys, good to catch up with you too. :y: I spotted this & recalled Redwarf saying something about borrowing a Hyundai Excel... I wonder if this was it? :P Round 3 is in Deniliquin on April 28th, there's an Autocross on the 27th at the same venue but I won't be entering in that one. Just drive up on the Saturday, take a look so I sort of know what to expect & stay the night. Not keen on a 3.5 hour drive on the Sunday morning. :no2:
  24. We have a Rollaclub show 'n shine? There's always the monthly TCCAV Cars, Coffee & Donuts meets, just waiting to confirm a date for Winterfest this year but when we do I'll be sure to let you know.
