Damn, the guilt trip to get you to enter didn't work! :laff: Still, it'll be good to see you & Godfrey there.

Cheers mate, time will tell whether it was just beginners luck or not. :y: **There has been yet another revision of the results, regarding the winner of the Novice category. Due to eligibility issues, the previous winner has been removed & myself promoted to first place. Rightio, Round 2 is on this Sunday 24th March at Pakenham Car Clubs grounds. Supp regs were a bit hard to come by (CAMS held onto them forever, busy with open-wheelers at Albert Park or something) but here's some links if anyone's interested in competing: Pakenham VMC2 Supp Regs & Approved Round 2 Supp Regs . Due to how late the regs have come out, the normal late fee won't apply. Also, due to an Ironman event being held in Melbourne this Sunday, parts of EastLink as well as other sections of roads will be closed, so plan your route carefully! Information about road closures can be found here. kickn5k, I'm looking at you...this is on your side of the city. ;)

Blue Thing: The Daily / Motorkhana Hack (Now Efi)
carbonboy replied to carbonboy's topic in Rollaclub Rides
Ah, I would've been inside the Air Museum at that time, I didn't end up leaving until after 3-ish. Good news: Blue Thing has two functioning drive-shafts again, complete with the splined-bolts that sit in the output shaft. Happy camper!- 539 replies

Cheers coln72, a guy by the name of Bob who seems to know how to throw an MX-5 around pretty well still sells them, can grab a few more next time I see him if you want some? A bit pricey though, $2 each... ;) Mik, I went for a scroll back through the photos I took from the day & I'm a little embarrassed to admit I don't have any of your '20. :( Were you parked in the main carpark area? Have a few goodies headed my way via the mailman/woman, will post photos when they arrive & the future of the mighty 2AC shall become clear.- 539 replies

Blue Thing: The Daily / Motorkhana Hack (Now Efi)
carbonboy replied to carbonboy's topic in Rollaclub Rides
Well, upon inspecting the damage, this is what I found. It's a case of: a) I haven't torqued up the nuts/bolts connecting my output shafts to the drive-shafts correctly OR b) they've worked themselves loose over time. Either way, the end result is the same. I have only 2 of the 6 nuts & 2 of the bolts have sheared off, I can rebuild the uni-joint based off bits I have, just need to get 6 new nuts/bolts tomorrow.- 539 replies

Camry, Aristo, same same? ;) (there was however, a blue SV21 behind me when I took this photo!) John Deere's finest, not just any stivo either, one of the one-hundred & something factory turbo models. :) Glad to hear another rollaclub member made it down there! All good Mik, will try to catch up with you at the next event. Did you have your KE20 there at all? I missed it if so. :( Bloody Nee-sans, ruining a good Toyota line-up! :P Sports 800, AE80, '86 GT-S, AE112R, S15, ST185-GT4 & a something-something Aristo, with an R32 GT-ST & a few KE70's on the other side of the Aristo. So, this morning I went to leave for work, managed to just get moving when *BANG* *CLUNK* *RATTLE*......F@#K!!! Mr passenger-side drive-shaft decides to call it a day, though considering the abuse it's copped in my hands I'd say it has done well. More photos of the damage once I've pulled the remains out, I have a spare one somewhere here. Finding it is another matter.- 539 replies

Hopefully better than she does at the moment, it feels like the ignition timing is retarded as all hell after replacing all the vacuum lines/pollution gear hoses this afternoon. Of which, there's about 4.2 metres worth... :blinks: I knew I should've just blocked it all off except for the distributor advance! They were enough to tempt me from the world of EFI on this one, what can I say? Fitting them to the engine won't be overly difficult, I've managed to get a manifold design sorted. Getting them to run nicely on the other hand.....I plan to lose a bit of sleep over. :laff: But I will post up how I go, complete with any learning points (read: stuff ups) along the way. Feels like my head is about to explode from all the reading/sifting through the myths I've been doing. By the way, cheers for the tip regarding what angle to mount them on in you mentioned in another thread. :y:- 539 replies

*awkward shuffle* It hasn't been abandoned, it's been shelved, literally. All the R/C gear is in one box & the plastic stuff is somewhere else. I have a fair bit of space, but only a limited amount of working area due to keeping things inside (car bits to keep out of weather). Meaning having multiple things on the go is a self-induced nightmare. So I've been extending the amount of sheltered area outside I have to store car bits I currently have taking up inside area & getting rid of things I don't need anymore (non-car things).

I'll vouch for all of the above! Loving the thread by the way altezzaclub, ingenuity over money. Edit: Not that spending money is bad, I just know what it's like to not have much of it. :)

Flashing a custom ROM seems like a good idea, have been meaning to do this at some point. Mainly to free up RAM/memory usage from stuff I just don't need. Because they're silly or rely upon phone insurance way too much. On the other hand, it keeps phone repair people employed. :laff: +1 for this Otter (Tradesman I think??) case, I think I paid $60-$70 for it. but worth every cent. MIne gets bashed, knocked, squashed, dropped & covered in dirt/sawdust on a daily basis, it just takes whatever gets dished out & comes back for more. They're not fully sealed however, so if you drop it into a body of liquid, you'll still be in trouble! :)

Challenge accepted. ;) They will, helped in no small way by yourself, I really appreciate everything mate! Speaking of plans, I suppose I should elaborate on these a little.... I will, in time. :P But for starters, I'n no fan of the factory-fitted Aisan carburetor. I'd been looking around at the usual Weber 32/36, dual-side-draughts etc, then these came up. Quad Keihin's should get BT making a nicer noise methinks. Cheers to RainWarriorDregs for posting these, more bits to come from other forum members in the very near future. In a way, it's becoming a bit of a community effort, I :y: this. Edit: Friggin' speeling errors...- 539 replies

You can still pre-register if you wish, shall I put your details down Doogs?

Two careful cuts with an angle grinder will take a notch out of that hole big enough to take the brake line out without disconnecting. Just make sure the U-shaped clips are on properly, can double up if worried about the lines falling out at all. I've had no problems with this. ^ Pretty much echoes my experiences. If you can find some thick gauge wire a little smaller than the ID of the tube, push it into the tube when bending it to prevent kinks & pull it out when done (electrical wire works well, just be sure to blow through the tube after removal to make sure any possible shavings are removed). Only good if the bend is a reasonably short distance from the end of the tube though. Bursons instead of SCA for me, but a cheap one all the same. Provided your cut is square ($8 tube cutters from Bunnings will suffice, worked for me) & you have a few practice flares on some old tube first, you should be fine. :y:

If you remove the front grille, you'll have access to the back-side of the front bumper. If your mounting arrangement dictates front bumper removal (this is from memory, so forgive me if I omit anything): - Undo the fasteners that secure the upper sides of the bumper to the front of the front wheel-arches & the lower braces there. - Remove park-lights, head-lights & grille, disconnect wiring for bumper indicators, you now have access to the 4 main bolts at the front that attach the bumper to the brackets. Undo those & off she comes. :y: Edit: Forgot about the bumper indicator wiring.

I think you're right, my friends house appears to have changed clientele. ;)

True, but when they're already walking around in only their jockey shorts, it's just distasteful. ;)

WGMG - People who are 'full-on' when sober, when they're drunk. I'm all for a laugh, have a few drinks, but basic boundaries still apply. For example, if you walked into your local pub & while a random guy was taking a drink of his beer, you smacked him in the forehead. Consequences of doing this: Painful & bloody. Then a while later you pull your genitals out of your pants & rub them on the same guys leg, things wouldn't be expected to go well would they? I don't like conflicts at friends social events, walking away was the simplest option. Going to be altering my social circle if this individuals presence continues though, not the first time I've had to endure this kind of $h1t. :(

Just a reminder that the General Meeting is on this Tuesday night, starting at 8pm but if you're like me & grab some dinner as well, best to be there at 7pm! Parking is available in side streets close by.

So much for that plan... ;) Sweet pickup, keen to see what happens here. :y:

^ What he said plus: If you can work out what you can afford to spend a month & can commit for two years, see if you can get the phone you want on that plan. Although if you're looking to buy one outright & stay prepaid (or whatever you have currently), a Samsung S2 should be well-priced & I can vouch for how much abuse Gorilla Glass can take. I have the S3 & it's larger size is a PITA sometimes, it is handy for maps & internet though with it's large screen. Android for the win.

Like that yellow thing about 1:40 with the boxed out guards, massive front track & even bigger rear wing? Yes, definitely build Maxi like like that!!! Those Irwin things will help with nuts/bolts you can get a socket onto, not the ones that need an open-ended spanner. (e.g brake line in the way, not sure if I explained it right) :y:
