This is the average split system air-con most people will have installed in their home. These people on the other hand, have a slightly bigger than average home.

Combination post: WGMG - My computer starts having issues, first up the screen started blacking out then coming back with a message saying that my video device driver has had a problem & restarted. Then my internet connection drops out & the computer then tells me that no network adapter is installed. Shortly after this, it does an emergency dump to the C drive & shuts down. Will not boot up, gets to the Windows log-in screen, has a hissy-fit & shuts down. WMMH - Pulled the tower case apart, fired up the air compressor & blew out a scary amount of dust from inside. Put it all back together & it works perfectly again. Note to self: do that a little more regularly!

Ignition Won't Work After Installing Battery Backwards
carbonboy replied to harryrolla's topic in Car Electrical
To stop junkies from taking your car for a joyride & burning it when they're done, one has prevented my car from suffering that fate twice now. I do see the added complications that one would add to wiring, especially if installed prior to your ownership of the car. :) -
There'd also be four lobes on the cams spinning around doing nothing, possibly fouling on the cam covers.

What does "hard parking" mean/refer to? To my brain, this term refers to the level of difficulty in the actual parking manoeuvre. For example: driving a large vehicle (e.g SUV, small truck) & executing a reverse parallel-park, finishing equal distance from the lines of the bay front/rear/drivers-side, without hitting anything & in no more than two moves. From what I can tell, all I need to do is instead of straightening my front wheels before turning off the engine, is leave some steering lock wound on. I've seen a photo of a Chevrolet in the States with a Holden badge, I think I'd nearly wet myself laughing if I saw a Commodore in downtown Tokyo with that sticker! Imagining it, I see four or five Japanese guys, wearing Akubras, wife-beater singlets under flannelette shirts, football shorts & thongs. With a toy kangaroo hanging near the muffler with the LED-tip.. :lolcry: WGMG: A certain Mercedes Benz dealership, the work van had its faults (its a Vito, duh!) & about 8 weeks ago was taken in for a service. Which turned out to be just a fault-finding/arse-about session, an actual service was booked then for today after the sources of the problems were found. Arrive to collect the van this afternoon.....it hadn't been fixed. The excuse? "We had to order some parts from Germany"..... They knew exactly what they needed & when they'd have to do it 8 f**king weeks ago & are only ordering the parts now? Another thought, don't they think that it MIGHT just be handy to have a few spare parts for a Vito on-hand, given that they've sold how many thousands of the things in this country? I'm going to leave some Hyundai i-load etc brochures on the dashboard & front seat when it goes in next time. On a brighter note, I left the dealership smiling from ear to ear. But that was only because the Smart Car that was being loaded onto a tow-truck in their parking lot caught fire halfway up.

After reading all this, I have but one thing to say: Fark, I love you guys! A friend of mine asked me if I wanted one of those hang ring things (supposedly from Japanese trains) as he found some 'cheap'. Told him if he got one I would personally beat him to death with it. Isn't Titleist initiating a lawsuit against illest? Compare logos, I can see why they would. I wouldn't want to be associated with a bunch of knuckle dragging bogans either. :no2:

With so many things... ;) Cheers Ken! :y:

Cheers Trev! :y: Just realised I had a 'DERP' moment, or brain fart if you will. Forgot an 'after' shot. Tie-rod brackets.

Done Manual To Auto Conversion Ke38-Who`s Cluey ?
carbonboy replied to teza40's topic in Car Electrical
Of course not, just a 'neat' streeter. Morning! The days when things were much simpler, I recall my Father doing a similar thing with a Datsun 200B Wagon. :) My own auto-electrics ability extends to something about as complicated as a car with a 1.6L EFI engine in an East-West configuration, with none of the fancy stuff like A/C, VVT, ABS etc. Your daughter would probably get used to it after the first time she goes to start it in drive, I doubt the roadworthy inspector would be so relaxed about it. -

Sounds like the green wire is a power supply for the lights on the auto-shifter that show you what gear it's in at night time. Although wouldn't that be hooked up to park lights? -
Not sure how useful those cams would be for a 16v engine.

Needed a little more height in order to make spraying a little more comfortable. Ghetto, but it works. Before: During:

Hi! Although I must confess I have NFI what Downshift is. The first JDMST meet I thought I'd go along & take a look at reminded me of my old days of late-night supermarket car-park 'meets', mainly Commodores. Same thing, different cars, the word 'Police' was mentioned & people couldn't get out fast enough.

I think Rian's winning at the moment, I'm waiting for someone to come along & show us all up. :P

I'm just tapping in off my housemates connection, so it's TPG & umm...ADSL2+ I think... :hmm: I have no idea where the nearest exchange is. :no2:

WMMH - Going from using my mobile phone (4G) as a modem, ping of 50 - 60ms, 1.2mbps download & 0.5mbps upload. To this:

Looks good man, I'm not the biggest fan of brown but the black looked kind of out of place. Looks very neat now. :y:

With me doing it, I could see it turning into a cheapy blow-up turbo setup. :laff: Crawled back under, got the rear passenger side stripped & primed. Compared to this, the floorpan will be easy. :)

Looking awesome mate! Not sure about the pink wheels with the yellow though. Planning on fitting flares at all? -
As in what the clearances are meant to be? I have for a KE70 4K item. Outer rotor to body clearance: 0.10mm - 0.16mm Inner rotor tip clearance: 0.04mm - 0.16mm Rotor end float 0.03mm - 0.09mm

The good old C-series gearboxes, one of the dirty tramps of the automotive world. Wikipedia isn't entirely accurate of course, but it surprised me how many vehicles this gearbox series can be found in worldwide. Photo's are fixed. :P It's what I had available sitting in the shed (from the '82 with a C50), one of the objectives of the 5 speed swap was to not spend any money doing it. Objective complete. :D Care to elaborate on/explain the Penrite comment? No offence taken, just curious. I might put the rubber bushes for the shifter cables back in to allow some 'give' for the rusty 5 speed operator, then put the bearings in once I've adjusted to it. Other than shifting into second it's smooth & quiet, BT certainly doesn't feel lightning quick due to it but it also doesn't feel like she's fighting against a slightly too tall a gear ratio anymore. For instance: Second gear with the C40 would make the engine 'lug' in the lower speed stuff where first would be revving its nut off. Second gear now has some pull in the lower rpm, same with third. I dare say it's no faster in terms of acceleration, it just feels smoother, like it actually WANTS to increase speed. :blinks: Having said that, a 4A would also cure that...
-
So stop spending money on this & spend it on the '82! The '82 can troll the same cars as a '92/3. :P
-
I'm using Penrite Hypoid Gear Oil, 80w-90 (Heavy duty, extreme pressure). The gearbox took just over 2.6 litres before it started to flow from the filler hole, which indicates full on a C-series?

If anyone ever becomes an employer, this should be your mantra. Especially when you are on holiday & out of contact. Sadly I can't just down tools & go home in protest, as I already am home. I work for a small husband/wife run company, we had a discussion about what would be happening while on holiday before we finished for the year, I even recall a bonus being mentioned. Most frustrating thing is I had plans involving other people that I'm having to re-neg on, then again, counting my chickens before they hatch comes to mind on that one.

WGMG - Despite being employed full-time & my pay going through electronically with no problems every other week of the year, for some reason when I'm on annual leave around Christmas/New Years it mysteriously has 'problems'. After three years it gets a little tiring, how hard is it to set up automatic transfers, seriously?
