  1. So yeah, this thing. :zzzz: Gave myself a bit more room to move underneath. Got stuck into it, wearing welding goggles for the eye-safety win! Bits of surface rust on bolt threads etc here & there, treated with rust converter & will get another grind tomorrow. Learned my lesson, working in sections :)
  2. Both gaps are meant to be 0.2 - 0.4mm, but you probably already know this. I'd hoped the ECU change would solve things, I'm lost too. :(
  3. Dunno what the fuss is about with shopping centres playing Christmas songs. Headphones + music of choice + volume = what Christmas songs? :D WGMG - Dental pain, pain anywhere else I could ignore it to a certain degree. When it's literally in your head, it has your full & undivided attention. As I can't take codeine, thank f**k for ibuprofen as it's a few more days until dentist appointment.
  4. SOLD. :y:
  5. Same, with a running chainsaw.
  6. You apply the dry ice in pellet form over the sound deadener, it causes it to freeze solid & you can tap it off with a hammer/chisel. If you're lucky it'll all shatter off.
  7. It's the best feeling when you're driving your (somewhat) senior parents around & both of them start hurling abuse at the older driver in front if you doing 30 in a 60 zone before you do. Permission to overtake accepted! :D
  8. Cheers man :y: I don't think anyone would pay it even if I could. I was at Albert Park Lake for the TCCAV Christmas BBQ last weekend, weather's good, temptation to pull it out of storage is high. Just have no time to :(
  9. Custom plates that are suitable & not drift related = Massive win! :y:
  10. New GT86? Please, whatever you do, pick a better name than the options my sister has been picking out for hers. I think she got hold of some 'new age' baby name book & just went nuts from there. Some of them the kid would go through hell for the rest of their lives, no she's not considering Hashtag but some aren't far off.
  11. Oh damn, we HAVE to lock the diff... But seriously, I do not know how to do that in a fwd transaxle myself. :( By the way, I don't think anyone has suggested AE71/AE85/AE86 (all rwd) due to the inflated prices (have seen a few cheap ones lately though), they would be great for it though. Depending on individual vehicle-spec, not all have power steering. Quite common though, as are leaks. :P On Twin Cam models the strut tops on the front can be spun around for more castor. Yes they run a rear swaybar, TC item being the bigger factory item, aftermarket larger diameter items can be found. As it's speedway I'm guessing most of the interior will be stripped out & the spare tyre etc given the flick, so most of the weight variation between models comes in the form of the body shape (sedan, hatch or seca/liftback) & whether it has A/C &/or P/S. A safe ballpark would be 940-1000kg without driver.
  12. I'm not sure if all of this work seems (relatively) simple to you or not, but it would do my head in researching & working everything out. Especially in regards to keeping standard/commonly available parts wherever possible rather than custom all-of-the-things. :y:
  13. My AE82 Twin-Cam hatchback with a full tank of fuel but no carpet, back seats or rear interior plastics weighed in at 960kgs. No power steering or air-conditioning gear fitted either. Edit: Just realised this is the KExx section, my bad.... Comparison perhaps?
  14. They handle pretty good for in standard form for what they are. Being front wheel drive, understeer when hard on the throttle is inevitable but can be managed, liftoff oversteer is another handling trait but after practice you get used to it. :) Standard replacement springs/shocks are available through most car parts stores, shop around as prices tend to vary somewhat. Adjustable coilovers are available if the rules allow. Restricting a 4AGE down to 3K power levels...is that going to be good for the engine? If that's what they plan to do then I'd go for a 4AFC or even a 4AC engined car as it will be cheaper to obtain & can be upgraded.
  15. An AE82 Twin Cam, sure they're getting a bit old but if you're doing speedway & don't need road registration, you should be able to get one cheap as. I.E $1k or less. Parts are commonly available & cheap as chips, I'd dare say it would perform rather well even standard. Edit: how big is the restrictor plate going to be out of curiosity?
  16. Small confession...I have practically zero sailing experience, what I do know is to make sure you know how to swim for extended periods. :) I used two books as reference material when setting up the rigging, both were pretty cheap via eBay & dumbed it all down enough for me. :) 'The working guide to traditional small boat sails' by David L Nichols & 'Sailing for beginners, 3rd Edition' by Jeff Toghill. You've done a fantastic job on the finish of yours, you should be damn proud. :y:
  17. Damn, could've helped out somewhat there. So, no Fast & Furious-style under-seat nitrous installs either...
  18. If you do use the FWD C-series fork, make sure it's from a 5 speed gearbox. The 4 speed ones are different. :)
  19. So much pedal power, yet I felt alienated because I was on two wheels... A pleasure to meet & a have a chat to you too, once you look beyond the bodywork made of corrugated plastic & race-tape, there's a fair bit of tech & engineering in this event. Adding motors just makes it even more appealing! Congratulations on your finish, knew you were gunning for the win but...next year!!!! :D How are the rules on running LPG?
  20. Bugger, missed the hat-trick. :( Keep an eye out today for some idiot on a yellow mountain bike.
  21. :blinks: Bloody hell, you don't muck about with cars do you? Love this, keep it up! :y:
  22. Welcome aboard Sznaps, seeing that makes me want to buy an sc12 now... :)
  23. Seems I'm a serial poster in this thread  WMMH - Being told after exams by the PIC assessors to "get outta here, we don't have to see your smiling face in here again". This is as good as being told I've passed, now all I have to do is wait until the four year period is up & I'm a registered plumber. Woohoo!!! Now begins the two years of night school to become licenced... *sigh*
  24. I know of a few 16v engines running 20v ITB's, they all run beautifully, they all run aftermarket ECU's. The ones I've seen running factory ECU's (be it 16v or 20v) don't run so well & seem to always have persistent 'problems'. :)
