WMMH - Finally getting my 2tb drive from my XP system to cooperate with my Windows 7 system. The downside is I'm up for a new DVD-drive that will run via SATA, but at around $30, it's not that bad.

Thanks for the reminder & the photo (looks great by the way), now I know which one to look out for! :)

1986 Toyota Corolla Ae82 Twin Cam Club Racer
carbonboy replied to silverra23's topic in Rollaclub Rides
Those wheels....HHNNNNGG!!! Racing amongst the AE82's in the club will be very interesting in the near future. Bigport powered, smallport powered, 20v powered...should be fun! :) -
I was the same, am now a Galaxy convert. Having said that, out of the case it would be lucky to last a week. Me & nice things have a bad track record. :D

WMMH - Industrial strength phone cases. Accidentally dropped my phone while on the roof of a three storey building today. It landed on a pile of bricks, I was $h1tting them climbing down! Picked it up, not only is it still working fine, there's no cracks, no scratches, not even a mark on it. Best $70 I've spent lately methinks!

Patience is not normally a virtue I'm in large supply of, but it is possible to get your hands on one of these without paying (what I think can be sometimes) crazy money for it. It just involves waiting & waiting for about three years. :) In other news, I stripped down the struts/springs to renew the bumpstops/boots & discovered that what I thought were Twin Cam struts are actually Single Cam items. Right...acquired TC hubs but have no spare TC struts....bugger it, am just going to throw the lowered springs in & forget the brake upgrade.

I have a 2AC manual transmission, hope these pics help. First two are from the front, the third is from the firewall side.

Some small ones at least. :) The steering servo-motor kept pulling itself and/or its mounting bracket off, so I replaced the screws with bolts & nuts. Nice & solid now. Also have some ballast attached to even out the weight distribution, thanks to the battery it turned left brilliantly, right turns...not so much. I've built another box for the vacuum forming process, smaller volume so it & the plug can fit inside the bbq with the hood down to be able to vacuum it with even heat. The plug has had a sand & the bog is currently curing, it needed some attention after the abuse it received from the heatgun. I'll give that a sand then a quick spray of primer, then I need to steal my housemates bbq back again.

Bit of a thread dig, but I was going through my log & wondered how far I travelled. All up I clocked 6,357kms of driving, at an average of just over 350kms a day. Using Google Maps beforehand to plan my route gave an estimate of around 6,400kms, not too bad! Hunting through receipts at the moment, curious about fuel economy figures. :)

Dooooo iiiiiiiittt!!! :D

I've yet to come across a male driving a convertible Astra who hasn't behaved like a tool. Must be something in the plastics.

My housemate is the one who has done the assembly, it's a mix & match of parts. As I understand it, things are done so that it works. The limit of my technical knowledge has been reached, what does that device do irokin? I'm not sure, but I've searched for Windows 7 drivers & they don't seem to exist for my drive. Western Digital Caviar Green 2.0TB, model number WD20EARX. The computer seems to recognise that something's there, but has no clue what to do with it.

Well, finally nutted out what the problem has been, it turns out the IDE for my dvd-drive & hard drive is obsolete to the new motherboard. It's like telling the smart kid in school that he's got to do an assignment with the kid who's dribbling on his shoes in the corner. To get it to work it's a few hundred dollars for a new board, cpu, graphics card etc, so back to XP I go!

I believe this is the appropriate place to post something like this: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/forum/86-wanted-to-buy/ :)

So...I remember saying something along the lines of not playing with Blue Thing anymore. *rolls eyes* I found the rear twin-cam hubs & disc brake setup (which need a rebuild kit put through them by the looks) in my shed that came with the project shell. With some help from Three Amigos Racing I got my hands on a pair of front hubs, enabling me to run the spare TC struts & King Springs I have for moar low! Add a swaybar & the damn thing might even handle! The guys even sourced me an AE93 radiator for the project build, I approve of this product and/or service. :y:

Will do, cheers for that Dave! Myself & technology have a love/break relationship.

FAT32 I think, bought it new & formatted it to suit XP, I presume it's a different format for 7. I thought it would recognise it as well, my housemate's playing with it & muttering something about running in parallel, could even be how it's connected.

Old Nokia's were damn near indestructable, I had a 3330 that my mates & I would play soccer/hackeysack with. Stop game halfway through to answer a call, then carry on. WGMG - Windows 7 not recognising my 2tb storage drive from my XP computer. Copy content off of it & reformat time?
-
WMMH: My current computer being made redundant by a mobile phone, seems like a good reason to finally upgrade. :)
-
WGMG - Not taking a day off yesterday with a dodgy lower-back, continued working while popping Neurofen & Voltaren tablets like M&M's. F**king stupid idea, it took me 15 minutes of trying, then the assistance of my housemate to get out of bed this morning. :bash: I'm also in boots 5 days a week, I've been through a few different brands with my favourite being a set of Taipans by Highmark. A decent pair of socks can make or break a boots comfort factor though, I hate paying $15 for a single pair of socks but damn, they're worth it.

This is purely personal opinion, but: It doesn't sound tough, it sounds like a mouse farting inside a 44 gallon drum. A decent sports muffler (avoid 'cannon' types like the plague) will give decent note while not attracting negative attention (read: police) or killing your hearing.

Blue Thing versus Godfrey around Winton/down Calder Park drag-way, as they sit right now! You game? :P I've noticed that different people run different set-ups, no idea what will work for me hence the extra bits. More than happy to go for a spin in yours. I figure I'll start off small Justin & work my way up, thought I might start with a bright red Civic....wait... :P There's a maroon, late-model, supercharged MX-5 that's wearing custom number plates I wouldn't mind seeing if I can beat first. ;)

That it is, I also got the drivers-side bailey channel sanded up & primed. Had been putting off that job for a while! On another note, laws regarding roll-cages have changed a lot here in Victoria recently, all 6-point weld-in cages must be engineered now, regardless of Club Rego or not. So, the plan now is for a 6-point bolt-in, have had conversations with a couple of cage builders & my reservations about them have been put to rest. Don't be, I keep giving myself deadlines to have the paint done by & keep failing to meet them miserably! It's the first time the tarpaulin's been lifted off it in months! :D I went the usual setup, 6kg fronts & 4kg rears with the sports valving. Ordering 10kg/8kg springs as well, just to be able to experiment & find what I'm happy with. Not sure BT's worthy of these, when I get tempted to throw them in, that's when I know I need to hurry up! I have other suspension for her once I acquire a set of hubs, might save some cash by not getting a KE70 & make BT the motorkhana car. ;) Take the turbocharger out & I might have a chance! I just want to scare MX-5's. :P

Nothing that will particularly hurt anything mechanical, but tinnitus can be a real bitch... Having done this with a 2AC, I can tell you that you will find that a lot of low-rpm torque has gone missing & that even with a helmet on, it is annoyingly loud. I would not recommend doing this on a street-driven car, you're asking for a defect, or worse. I don't want to sound harsh, but with a 4AC, there is no real benefit in doing this.

I'm almost willing to bet that like their namesake, they're trouble-making little buggers. :) Good to hear that your cat's on the mend, I know the grief/costs that come with after hours vet-clinics too. Dodgy old recliners are the best kind! I see what you mean by needing two doses, she's a big girl alright. Mine's about 11-12kgs tops, being a whippet he's not much of a thief deterrent but does attract bikini-clad attention at the beach in summer.
