  1. :lolcry: @ Failbook Virus.
  2. Correct. Correct again, a great cause of worry for everybody concerned.   Got the registration issue sorted out on the Monday (this happened on a Sunday morning) Your cops seem unwilling to take on someone their own size :( Dad FTW! :)
  3. GZE pistons are forged & have ceramic coated crowns from factory. Late 80's/early 90's Toyota over-engineering is awesome  Rods I'm not 100% on, Google search should confirm but they're bloody strong for a factory item.
  4. Not so much a defect story as a close call/lucky night. I was working evenings as a pizza delivery driver & was headed home at about 1.30am in Blue Thing (pale blue AE80 hatch). Came over a crest & spotted a booze bus up ahead, no probs, havent been drinking. Pulled up, did the BT, all good. Then another officer leans over & asks why I was driving a car with suspended registration...:blinks: :blinks: :blinks: Unbeknown to me there'd been a mixup with the transfer papers when I bought the car & the transfer never happened, hence suspended rego. So having pulled up on the median strip, I grabbed the family sized pizza out of my car, sat in the hatch area & munched away, watching the proceedings & wondering WTF I was gonna do, having about $100 to my name at this point. Two officers approached me & enquired as to what I was going to do, after offering them a slice (which they accepted...bribery FTW! ) I explained my situation to them. One then told me that they "would be packing up in about 30 minutes" & that "what I did with my car after that was not of their concern". Taking the none-too-subtle hint, I went for a bit of a walk. At a safe distance I watched them pack up & leave, waited a few minutes, then went back, got in the car & made my way home as fast as the speed limit allowed! :laff: If they wanted to, they could've quite easliy slapped a defect sticker on my car despite the suspended rego. Luckily for me, they were in a good mood.
  5. This car...rings bells in the back of my head... :blinks: I can't rememeber if I saw it at a show or in a magazine but I do rememeber liking it :y:
  6. With a distillery there, why would you want to leave? If I'm visiting the Bundy factopry, I'll camp! Not a chance of me driving after that :fuzz: Gotta try their 15yr old (I believe) Rum  Bundy & I are ol' mates...except at dfunkt's engagement party :( That was not my proudest moment  Mmm...crabpackers... :lolcry:
  7. I've got the thought that I'm in Group 2 :hmm: The idea of a couple of weeks to take time & enjoy sounds frickin awesome, but sadly I can't get the time. :( Well, I could but I'd have to quit my job.....aaaaaaannd :no2: . Hopefully I'm not one of those suspects  I have all 12 points on my licence :P I might not if I do this, buuut.. :laff: Just checked out the route again...thinking of stopping by Bundaberg, to errr, stock up on supplies! P.S I'm not doing this for a coconut, I'm hunting bananas!
  8. Amen to that...:y:
  9. The jealousy is rising...:laff: Welcome to Rollaclub! :y: There's TONNES of 4AGE info on this site & elsewhere (Wikipedia has a great A series engine guide ) but long story short the later model 7-rib blocks are better for boost than the earlier 3-ribs, got bigger gudgeon pins, also got oil squirters for the pistons :). A set of GZE pistons & rods in an NA block isnt too bad a thing. Edit: Nice ride! These are less 'chubby' than the VX series, a mate of mine has one of those & yes, those blown V6's can pick up their skirts & move! Especially with a pulley kit but thats another story
  10. Mmmm...shiny & MA61 goodness! Looking nice, hope you "test drive" it for the Mrs when you need to  Parts cars are awesome! :y:
  11. I remember this quote, it made me want to become a cop :) Old Spice works quite well too :P
  12. Say the thread title right & it sounds out as 'oh four-some'...I'm tired lol Edit: a..w..e..s..o..m..e.. Awesome! :P
  13. Does it involve you & three other people?
  14. I like how you say "at the moment", you're realistic :lolcry: Looking sweet on those wheels!
  15. Wow thats alot of dirt & grease :blinks: Great work cleaning it all up & rebuilding it! I am enjoying this ones progress :y:
  16. Edit: Will be making this one, just not eating or talking much (:P) as I can't feel half my face. I  dentists!
  17. The front lip works well with the grille. Sweet looking ride mate!
  18. Ditch the roof racks (unless you need them) & the rear louvre & go the venetians. Thats just what I think anyways. Car looks good either way! :y:
  19. Yeah I should've :laff: But my knowledge of anything other than AE82 is kinda rusty :P
  20. Funny you should mention 4k...I was thinking of a KE70 :P I've got some family I'd drop into Brissy to visit so I'd be around. Gotta find social hat though... The two to three weeks is prob not a go for me, work will be flat out. :( However we (Victorians) do get a nice long weeknd at the start of November? I'm also about financial sense/restrictions as well, so thinking of tent/camping grounds rather than motels etc. I like camping anyways so works for me  Edit: Am not hijacking, just throwing out ideas! :)
  21. This was all rust convertered (handy in getting that black stuff off) , washed down then w&g-r (wax & grease-remover) washed a few times. Before getting primer! :) While that was drying, I sanded up the MetalMend & put on a second lot. With a smoother finish than before  Less sanding! Dodgy bit looking better. Next on the hitlist after I'm done here. Spent a lot of time at the rear of the car, this annoys me greatly! This work proudly brought to you by iced coffee & cookies! Motivational foods of champions...maybe! :laff:
  22. Righto, progress! Photos coming courtesy of 3.2 megapixel digi-cam as opposed to 5.0 megapixies phone with scratch on lense. Primer's nice & dry. :hmm: That's gonna need some lovin'. This black stuff applied by whoever did the original repairs is a pain to strip off. Welds looking okay-ish. This would be the worst of it. :( Quick scratch up with some sandpaper inside... ...And some MetalMend love! Not being in the mood for being on my back for too long at this stage, this was all the area I could be bothered doing.
  23. I reckon here's nothing wrong with second hand gear , if someone doesnt want it & it works fine, cheaper price equals win! :) Plus you don't have to 'baby' it because of it being shiny, new stuff, you can just use it! :laff: Could just be me, I'm a bit of a princess sometimes trying to keep things new, clean & shiny for as long as possible. It ultimately ends in fail, so once it gets scratched etc I'm not so worried. If the AE86 is the practice mule of the three, the other two must be uber-sexy! Same as you, lots of practice with scrap, it's the only way to go. In my case about half a bonnet & half a cylinder of acetylene's worth :y: By the way I took GREAT pleasure in making as MUCH noise as I could at home doing the practice to annoy my neighbours who complained to the council about me a ways back, so much so I started grinding scrap bits of steel just for the heck of it  . A little childish? Yeah but it felt real good when I saw their roller shutters go down :P: They're still $h1tty with me after my dogs semi-mauled their cat, well, just a few bite marks, nothing major. Its vet bills are not my responsibility if it's in my yard (after dusk) & is too fat/slow to get over the fence in time. My old neighbours used to bring my bins in for us, these ones I don't like my chances :lolcry: . Whereabouts on the car are you welding? Inside a wheel arch wasnt it? I know the frusatration of blowing a hole where you can get to it easily, my prayers to the welding gods are with you in your efforts! The steel looks quite thick...with paint on it. When I ground it off both sides, threw the verniers on it & read '001.03'mm, I was like "Ooooooooooooohh, this might be trickier than I thought". I was right & then some! :( I found the 'tacking' method to work quite well too, about every 20mm was the go. The reason why the cat was in some photos was that my mates have just gotten a kitten as well. This one not like kitten :no2: Or my mates since then for that matter, it comes to me for attention. Strange, as I'm not normally a cat-liking person :hmm:. Also dangerous, as I would be welding away & hear a "miaow" right next to me which promptly scared the $h1t out of me & I nearly set the cat on fire. Not cool, as my mates would probably not like me much for that, nor the cat for that matter!
  24. Ummm.....about as useful to me as an imperial socket set :blinks: Great spelling too! Paseo anyone? :P
