I can't see what is wrong with using "lol" in posts. It's just voicing that you find something funny. I know its sms talk but its easier that writing "Laugh Out Loud" As for spelling like "I'm on my lunch brake" or "Hd" Not knowing it meant "Head Unit" To be onest, I'm still unsure what "ftw" means??

Read the whole tread, very good reading. I hope you still got this car, 220hp?, what about now after 6 months in the workshop?
-
Hey, how's it going! Nice to see you started a project thread, I thought your car was a 4age. Looks pretty tough on the outside, Where did you get the bonnet scoop from? I can't remember, were you the guy that said to sand my bumpers smooth on my thread?

Finally got someone coming out to do the aircon, took a bit of persuading to get someone to come up to mt dandy. $65 bucks on site.

Found some pics of this corolla. I heard from someone that there was only 20 in Aus. Not too sure about that coz if they were so rare then why would it be sitting in a self serve wrecker??

Nice 30 mate, what stereo do you have in the beast?

Depends on your budget, the list is endless.. Maybe start with some 16" mags and exhuast.

I was looking through some of my posts from 6 months ago. Well I didnt think i'll do it but I'm half way there with a 4age

I thought id fill you in on whats been happening. Engine convo: I will hopefully be picking up the 4age engine, ECU and gearbox in around 2 weeks, complete 4age wire loom is coming from Sydney sometime soon as well. Still have to find a twinky fuel tank. I'm still in the process of removing the 4ac and labeling everything with blue tape and a marker so i know where everything goes. Air con: Still looking around for a mechanic who will drive all the way to the top of Mt Dandenong to take the gas out of the system. Body: All doors, panels, lights, bumpers are removed, Still need to sand and prep all doors. I bought a new rear left hand door because of my attempt to break in my car left the rear door totally smegged. I still have to buy front left quarter (old one has a big dent in it) and a tailgate with rear demister from wreckers. Paint: Painting is going ok, I rubbed down the bonnet again cos in the 5 days i left it as bare metal, it rusted up again. I used quick-stop nitro putty and filled up about 4 small dents, primed the whole bonnet in Etch primer and wet sanded it with 240grit. After sanding it i noticed another 3 dents i have to fill. I still have to etch prime the roof but that can wait till later. Undercoating the rest of the car will be left till later when the engine is out. Interior: All the seats, Carpet, seat belts, Plastics, Dash and pretty much anything else i can think of is out. I'm happy with how everything is going but would love to spend more time on it, At the moment i'm spending about 2 hours after work working on it most nights, I don't want to put a date on when it will be finished but i hope it will be ready to drive next year before GOR cruise. I miss driving it sooo much and i'm sick of driving round in a stock automatic Ford.

I wish I knew about your worked 4ac, I would have bought it! Saves me getting new fuel tank and lines, Ecu, wiring loom.. :P

I'm not sure what rules you have in WA but i'm sure you could get a exhaust, that will give you a bit more power, you will instantly notice it.

I forgot all about this till just now. I was at pick-a-part in kilsyth about 2 weeks ago and spotted a Corolla. It was made in 1985 but was not a ae82. Looked really weird, Engine was north facing and had the gearbox under the floor just like a rear wheel drive car but it was front wheel drive. Blue, Hatchback. Nearly all parts were there. I looked at the maker of the vehicle on th ID badge and it was made my some guy, not Toyota??? Weird. Never seen one like it b4 but thought id post it. Edit: Looked kinda like a Nissan Pulsar ET turbo with KE70 headlights (Sort of)

I have just been told that ae82 aircon gas is very harmful to the environment. I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to get my car aircon De gassed? They have to have a Mobile service and drive to my house because my car wont be going anywhere for a good few months due the work i'm doing on it atm.

I have just been told how toxic this Gas stuff is for the environment, Haven't cracked the pipes just yet (luckily).. I think will be getting a professional to come out to my place and DE-gas it for me. Just lucky i didn't open the pipes. I was so close to doing it today.. just couldn't find the right size spanner and didnt want gas everywhere.. I am glad i posted the question about this the other day otherwise i wouldnt have known how bad this shit is.

Just read through the whole thread, looking real good and i can't believe the transformation of the look of the car with the paint job! Nice front spoiler and scoop. Good work with the dash too, How on earth did you do that? Stereo looks like a goer, Sony deck, clarion speakers and JBL Amp  Explode subs, sorry mate  Hope you sort out the engine soon and get this beast on the road with a quick engine and make those Gemini drivers shake in there boots..lol! :P Cheers, Johno :P

If you want to waste a few hours, Crown Casino is the place to be, Theres heaps of shops, bars, night clubs, cinema's, restaurants, galactic circus (Like timezone but bigger) and of course pokies and what ever else you can throw a coin at. At night there is a fire display out the front on the Yarra river that goes off every hour i think, tourists love it. Right next to the crown there is also a fairly good pub called Queens Bridge Hotel. Live music and great meals there.

Do you have some more pics of this beast, love the first photo. I gotta see this 20v engine... Porn! :P PS: What on earth is a dogbox??? :P

Thanks guys, I might attempt taking it off tonight.

I heard the Melbourne aquarium is pretty cool if you like seeing 1 metre crabs and sharks swimming over you while you walk through a water tunnel.

He he, hope it doesn't rust up again! Got a question for anyone mechanically minded. :P I have started pulling out the old 4ac, got the radiator, coil, battery, air cleaner and other bits and pieces out. I want to take off the air conditioner pipes but i don't know what to expect. the air-con works shit hot ATM with the 4ac. I want to run air-con with the 4age but not sure what to do.If i take the pipes off for the air con, is gas going to piss out everywhere? or is there a one way valve to stop it coming out? Will i wreck the system if i take off the wrong thing? I want to take the pipe off the compressor and take out the inter-cooler thingo and all the other pipes to paint the car. Any help is appreciated, cheers, johno :P

Rolla Bus Ae82 W/rebuilt 4agze (yet To Be Started)!
Johno replied to RollaBus_4agze's topic in Rollaclub Rides
Ohh, well that sucks. I reckon you could get away with less than a 10mm clearance. I can can't even fit my finger though the gap where my tire is. Hope it all goes well :P -
Not much had really been happening with the rolla in the last 5 days. I think i had a brain wave though, My rear boot/door paint is in a bad way, needs to be stripped back to bare metal. I'm missing the plastic wiper cover inside and my rear demister isnt working because all the (wire) on the glass has been affected by the sun. So i was going to buy new glass which will cost heaps and strip the paint and buy a new cover. Brain wave is.. Buy a second hand door, just gotta make sure that the rear demister works. I might even get a series 2 door. Then i will have my numberplate lights under the rear spoiler rather than on the sides of the plates. All i will have to do is mask, sand and paint

Thats a skyline isnt it? Any hot toyota's? Tossa, not a bad find. Didnt see that one, lol

Jarrad is right, security will be top of the line, i mean you can't get much better than a big bunch of corolla nuts sleeping right next to their cars at night.
