So we got back from cape york about a month ago, great trip. Will likely go back again soon. So.. some pics. Just about to leave. At clairview for brekky on the way up, between mackay and rocky. milaa milaa falls in atherton, met up with my brother jonny at francis creek just above townsville. Camped at musgrave roadhouse about 250ks from the start of the telgraph track then telly track the next day, camped 2 ks in at palm creek. Palm creek entry, turned plenty of people around, we soon realise the majority of people who do this trip have never been offroad before. another creek. Me realising that the beers are running out way too quick! Jonny got some crap in a bead, and we gave him heaps telling people his landcruiser broke a cv. The circus tent all setup at another camp. good swimming spots everywhere, this was halfway along the telly track. and some others This was a muddy climb from canal creek, there was a short chicken track around but that aint much fun. The famous nolans brook, the pajero and patrol had no trouble, our other mate marty was not as lucky. The typical dirt road up there, lots of red dirt. The jardine river ferry, this is only an hour or so from the top, Loyalty beach camp grounds, near Seisia right at the top, saw crocs, dolphins, and bought more beer in bamaga. We think this croc was about 5metres Got heaps of dolphin shots, they were playing there for at least half an hour. so cheap! At the croc tent, me and the missus. The trek to the tip, about 15 minutes of strolling. fishing near there, caught spangled emperor, and some dart. Martin bought these out of the back of a ute off a fella in town, they were actually massive but beside jonny not so much.... So much ant mound -

thanks mate. Been busy wiring since i got back from the cape. I seem to get an hour or so done on it most afternoons after work. I'm going way overboard on neatness, i'm an electrician by trade so this is the bit i have not been looking forward to, so it will be good to get it out of the road. Getting very close to finished, still need to do the boot pumps ect, and some of the engine bay senders ect. Also i went and got my other corolla from my parents place where its been stored, will start to plan, and maybe work on it a bit. I am really keen on dropping a 3s beams in it, but there are 3 sr20's sitting here, and i don't have cash for beams, so i guess its likely gonna get an sr. I have alreadt got an r31 diff cut down for it, a wolf v4 ecu, and a plenty of redundant bits from the ke30. Bought a few more bits for the ke30 the other day too. auto oil temp gauge engine oil temp gauge Electric heaters for demister for rego oil drain for turbo rocker stoppers led dash lighting, and interior light. Still plenty of stuff to do, but it feels alot closer with the wires near done. -
Your coil should have insulation on the ignition lead where it exits the coil. So either the main lead is stuffed, or you need to run the little boot that they normally come with over the end of the coil.

Yeh i agee, red with the white looks really good. I think i would go with a red carpet and white hood lining, thats just me though.

Saw this at the shell servo the other day, near cleveland road turn on the gateway. Would have said hello, but too early in the morning for being awake/ conversation.

I think the colour of the car would have a fair influence on interior choice............

79' Ke55 Sr20 Conversion
oh what a nissan feeling! replied to Nato2711's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
1. yes, ke30/55 corolla's were not designed with nissan sr20 engines in mind. 2. Yes but No, unless you are very good with suspension and geometry I would advise you keep the crossmember and lca's that the car came with.- 3 replies

Yep it is possible, it just depends how far out the bolts are out, and if there is any meat there to drill into. -
The firewall start looks really good i recon, same with the tunnel, really neat work. Was just reading another thread that made me cringe, this is how it should be done. Yeh no go in qld for firewall mods, but every state is different, its a shame we aren't allowed.

Ke20 Drop Tank/ Fuel Cell Installation
oh what a nissan feeling! replied to ke-rolla's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Yep. I used to have my filler under the bootlid, but outside the boot rubbber so it was legal. I changed it in the recent build for that reason, at least half the time the servo people not start the pump until i had gone and seen them. very annoying. -
Ke20 Drop Tank/ Fuel Cell Installation

what you described will work fine, thats how i did mine, it drops in through the boot. Is all modifications approved as well. Fuel filler has to be outside of vehicle for approval. -
1972 Ke20 Sr20Det 2017 Update
oh what a nissan feeling! replied to MYT B OLD's topic in Rollaclub Rides
Wow man nice, that plastic chrome is not cheap. Nice engine list on the first page, pretty much saves me writing my own its that close to mine, its gonna be a fun ride now! -
I would have to say spool time is more about turbo choice than compression ratio (within reason). I have had a turbo 8.5cr, and a non turbo 9.5cr sr20 with identical turbo setup, spool time difference was very minimal. I just said sr20 !!!

well you most certainly have your work cut out for you with the hd. So when does the corolla build start? here's my brothers hr thread, you may like it. http://performanceforums.com/forums/showthread.php?67249113-HR-304-turbo-build-up welcome to the rolla club

Good to hear mate, i thought that story was gonna end badly. no sr20 yet?
-
ok, cool, so any parts purchased yet? there are lots of sr20 ke30/55s on here, the ve part does not change anything for fitment as the intake will be custom anyway. Check the rides section.

thanks mate. engine finally all bolted in. Turbo, dump pipe, exhaust, wastegate all together for the last time. I moved the car back in the shed now it is finally on its wheels again. A bit of a mission with just me and the missus, its an uphill into the shed. Some cleaning up to do tomorrow if I'm going to be able to work in there at all. -

did some paint today. rear of car re-done, needed some more smoothness than previous rocker cover Repainted the section above the engine where i had to strip it back so the chassis numbers are readable. A few other bits got some silver or green. And most importantly the front and rear crossmembers are painted, I can now finally put the car back on the ground, and move it to the shed. -
I have found that the rare spares website has a listing for the chrome strip that pushes into the front and rear window rubbers. Can anyone confirm if this is the same as the original strip that comes on the ke30 and fits nicely with the little stainless corner pieces? I have bought some universal crap before, and it fits bad.
