  1. Some nice cars there mate. Especially the 20 and 25! The AE101 looks very well done too :bash:
  2. Limp!
  3. Did yours misfire only when you wanted to go fast? (High RPM) Just another quick Q. Where do people get Toyota replacement gear?! Especially stuff like leads, oil/fuel/air filters etc! Do I have to get it from a Toyota dealer?
  4. I've got 9mm top-gun leads... Don't think they can't handle the current. I do have a shitty old Coil, though. Still should be able to hold the spark though. My friend says it could be the spark-plug gaps. I didn't set them when I put them in, but would it make that much difference?
  5. Hi everybody. Have got my 5K in KE70 and it has been misfiring in in high RPM's, more so when the driveline is under load. I have played around with the timing to see if it was that, but can't seem to find a sweet spot. So wondering what other issues may be causing this to happen. Could it be carby? Motor is a worked 5k with 35/75 Cam, ported head, solid lifters and probably lightened flywheel (I didn't build motor) with a 32/36 weber bolted to the top. 160/165 air jets, unsure on fuel jets. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Vince.
  6. Wow, that's a nice car!
  7. Yea, Will be!
  8. Oh I wasn't driving haha. I think I would have if I was, though.
  9. Vaguely similar thing happened to me once! Wasn't a very good surprise, though... Was going on a trip in my uncles neighbors HG Holden Ute, which never has any passengers - we start going up over a hill and the sun blinds me as we get to the top.... I instinctively flap down the sun-visor and WHAM! A huntsman about the size of a man hand drops in my lap. I was pretty lucky cos it didn't freak out and start running down my leg/up my chest. Should have seen my face though. Gawwddddd!
  10. WHAT?!?!?!?!??! ;) ;) :D
  11. Don't be scared to put a 5 speed in! People won't ridicule it for not being "original" if that's what you're thinking. Such a simple conversion, too. Especially since yours is already 4 speed. It was WELL worth it when I changed my KE70 from a 4 speed to 5 speed. Other than that, K engines are pretty damn good. Like everyone else has said, keep it maintained well. I made the mistake of not taking good care of my 4k in my KE70 when I first got it. Didn't put in proper coolant, never did any oil changes, etc.
  12. Moruya is a goer for me. Anyone else making the trip? Just incase anyone has forgotten it's next weekend on 29/30th of August. KE70 is back up and running! Needs work, though. Stupid pissy annoying things like ported head means gaskets holes are all too small so runs crappy. Didn't get a thermostat to head gasket, or gasket for water jacket plate on back of head so it leaks water out of the thermostat part, but we used tissue box paper for water jacket plate ;)
  13. I'm innocent! ;)
  14. Flashing light is a good idea. Along with what I believe to be the best deterrent is the old steering lock. If the kind of people that steal cars see it, they won't want to go to the trouble to get around it. A bit of a wild idea... My friend wants to hook up an alarm with 2 HOUSE ALARMS installed ;) If they get in your car, they won't want to be in there for any more than half-a-second! Good luck.
  15. I have the same problem! Just go to your local exhaust shop, buy a regular gasket and cut it down.
  16. I think Evan_G needs to add Taz_Rx on MSN!
  17. Pretty crazy idea! Would be cool if someone's done it :)
  18. I don't know if you missed it, but on the selector forks, there are a few "pins" somewhere on them. It's hard to describe where they are, but if you spin the fork around and look over it you should find them. Just bigger than a match head! That was something that stopped me from getting out the selector forks on mine that I didn't know.
  19. Yea, absolute agony! I think it took me about 2 hours to do this since mine dropped out about 3 or 4 times. Each time it happened I got the shits and hit something with a hammer, which made me feel better. The feeling I got when I put the last few bolts in and turned the output shaft and it worked was awesome though!
  20. Redwalls!
  21. You'd have a lot better chance at getting a rotor registered and probably fitting it up, too! Up to you. There's still lots of nice 4 bangers out there.
  22. And if you have no idea of how much something is worth, ASK FIRST! :)
  23. I agree with Taz. Unless you plan on reco'ing gearboxes fairly often, I'd suggest taking it to the people with that "advanced knowledge" to do it for you. When I was doing Automotive class in College last year we got to pull a shot gearbox apart and put it back together. He happened to have a K40 box there so I grabbed it and rebuilt it. Even though about 10 of the 15 people in the class were rebuilding FWD gearboxes, I'd have a guess that only 2 people got their gearboxes back together and semi-working (as they were already broken gearboxes). This was over the time span of about 2.5 hours of class time per week for 10 weeks.
  24. Had black steelies with the stock hubcaps.
  25. Wow.. 17,xxx kms is pretty darn amazing! Especially since it hasn't sat and rusted/perished in every way possible. Even though it doesn't seem like that much money, the rego money and money for insurance paid on this thing just to drive it only once a month seems a little strange. It's probably museum worthy!
