  1. Cars are allowed to be lowered. They just can't be too low! As far as I know 100mm is the legal height. If you're above about 110mm with one or two people in the car you should be good! Although if your car was lowered by cutting the springs, that's illegal and unroadworthy because if you go over a big bump or something the springs can fall out and you can lose control and crash!
  2. Should just chuck in some standard height springs while you put it through rego. Is it less than 100mm from the ground? The only ever place I got mine rego checked was Kambah Automotive and Exhaust Centre (guess where.. Kambah) and it passed! Not that it was in any way unregisterable. Let us know how you go. ps. Cruise is on 5th or 6th of September! Check Canberra section.
  3. Thumbs up for a sunday cruise!
  4. Lots more! I haven't looked myself but I'm quite sure it can be found in the FAQ's.
  5. Ok... 5k is still plenty good then :D
  6. 1.2 x 1.2 = 1.44.... Still can only go up by 1 motor at a time in K series if you want to do it w/o engineers cert.
  7. Forgot to mention... You just need to make a booking with the vehicle inspection place to say you're having a change of details (motor) and they just need to check that it's in order! I put a 5k in my KE70 and got the change of details done so that's how I know :D This is for ACT. Might be different where you are.
  8. I seem to think (know) 1.1 to 1.5 is more than a 20% increase. Cars that came out with a 3k stock can put in a 4k and cars with a 4k stock can put in a 5k (legally). 1.1x1.2 = 1.32
  9. Alloys look strange on old cars which have lots of chrome strips/grilles/lights etc.. so they stick out like a sore thumb. I really think that the only thing that can suit this type of car are old hubcaps and whitewalls or a set of tough oldschool rims. I love commenting on this thread :D Such an awesome looking car. I'd never seen one before this.
  10. I've seen a Nissan 300ZX with Ferrari tail lights. It looked awesome. But as for a KE70, I think the two (or three?) stock ones are the only ones that will suit it.
  11. I don't see why you started 2 of the same thread within 3 minutes of posting the first one. People have replied more on the other thread so I'll put a link to it for everyone else. Prob best to get all of your (related) questions answered in the one thread. No need to start a new thread which is only a slightly different question. LINK
  12. Wouldn't it be more expensive than 7k? Howso WAY easier? Only difference between 5k and 7k is sump right? Engine mounts don't need to be made do they?
  13. Cool idea!
  14. What're the plans for it? It's looking pretty ghetto at the moment!
  15. Mhmm.. Putting a huge carby on a stock motor isn't much help at all. Sometimes it can be worse! Small mods like cam, exhaust, headwork etc. if done first make doing a carby upgrade much more worthwhile!
  16. That's fukn shiny. Do you really think it will suit a KE70, though?
  17. I have to agree on the 15 inchers and phat rubber, but no 1uz power. Needs Chevy power.
  18. It's funny cos that's almost how I pictured it in my head. White or black and rolling on hustlers :) I rekon you should put a few more cylinders in it!! :)
  19. I see Valiant! :)
  20. I love these cars. They're so stylish :) As for ideas, there's a few things you can do. There's the rat rod style which is a little impractical but cool if you're into it; Pimp it... not; keep it grandpa spec and leave the hubbies on and venetian/picnic rug the shit out of it. What I would do with it is give it a decent restoration, paint it black or white only and give it a set of tough oldschool muscle car rims like hustlers. To me, these cars always look the best when they are basic, but tough.
  21. Wreckers, pick-a-part, eBay (maybe). Call wreckers/pick-a-part and ask if they've got the car you're wanting to get the part off and then ask if they have the wing!
  22. Exactly right. About 6 months ago I wouldn't have the slightest clue in the world in how to change a gearbox. Now I've swapped a couple motors and gearboxes over in my Rolla's with some help. I'd be confident to do some of the more simpler things by myself now! Try asking uncles, dads, close family friends! I'm sure they've played around with cars when they were young and would know a thing or two.
  23. If you're looking to rebuild a 4k, offer to take one off somebody's hands for no more than a case of piss and you'll probably have a much fresher motor than the one you say is already in it. Back to the main question that was asked: these are the options that seem to be the most common 1. Cheapest/easiest - 5k or 7k - 5k adds little more torque, revs a lot more but little less power. 7k big torquey beast of a K motor, but doesn't like revving too much. Bolt on superchargers have been done! Cheap torque but not much power and almost no thinking to do to put it in 2. Semi-expensive/fairly simply - 4age/4agze. Will be a killer 4-banger combo in the KE70, although really only worth it if you work the motor which is easy as there are heaps of bolt-on bits for 4age motors. Better power and only a small amount of troubleshooting to put one in. 3. Expensive/complex - SR20/CA18 - Little to lots more power than 4age but probably a tad more expensive. Sweet ass 4-banger power but quite expensive and probably not very simple 4. Rotary! - Not much idea on the details.
  24. Good to see someone from RC got this car. Geoff talked it up a lot so I'm guessing it's really clean! What have you got planned for Daisy? I wish I had the room/money to buy it when he was selling it :) ps. Sammo and I have been organising stuff to get the Canberra section of RC a little more active recently and we'd love to see this thing on a cruise. We're looking at 2nd half of August or early September at the moment. You'll probably get a PM in the next few weeks!
  25. Haha, love the hubcaps. What're your plans for her short-term and long-term?
