  1. Well I picked two jobs out of the saturday paper. Other place called today asking for an interview...had to turn them down...I'm glad I only appied to two places!!! Few placed to check out http://www.detir.qld.gov.au/ Department of education and training (also industrial relations) http://www.mtaq.com.au/ (Motor trades association queensland - give them a call. they can send out some specific information for the automotive industry) Also if your not sure what you want to do for a career, centerlink has a careers center. You can do a program there, takes about 20mins and you'll find out whats suited to your interested. Engine Reconditioning was one of mine. I had already expressed an interest for it but this was just confirmation, and the extra reassurance I needed. don't have the number on hand...I'll get it after I come back from the coast if your still interested.
  2. Thanks heaps guys! nitephyre: nope...I was completely IT based till the end of last year when I decided "this isnt for me" Teddy: its not impossible to get an apprenticeship. You just need to know about the system, what you want to do and BE ENTHUSIASTIC! I was prepared to bend over backwards to get this job. Also found out a lady dad works with has a son working there as an apprentice fitter and turner. geez its a small world!
  3. OMG! I GOT THE JOB! I am now an apprentice engine reconditioner with Engine Engineering rocklea. Start on monday on a 3 month trial (standard for all apprenticed). Provided myself and the employer are happy after that I move onto a full 4 year apprenticeship. I would like to send a BIG should out to Nick. He gave me some bloody good advice the night before my interview! YOUR A LEGEND NICK!
  4. AFAIK the K motors oil level is too far below the crank to get ANY splash.
  5. try retarding the timing a truckload. my 3K accually runs better on ULP than PULP...i have a feeling its because of the very short stroke.
  6. don't use a top mount...go front... If your really looking for a sleeper look go the water/air Might want to think about using a 4A-GE throttle body and 100kw injectors (injectors will need a slight rewiring)
  7. There are, of course exceptions to the rule..... :| I believe with correctly balanced conrods and crank there should be able to rev a K up to 8k...not much point...a good grind should be making max power at about 7500 Youd probably want to lighten the crank a fair bit..theyre pretty hefty.

  21. rubbish, you "need" forgies like you "need" a hole in the head. k motors are budget, just use standard pistons. but yes, custom wiseco forgies will set you back $1000... us dollars well dead shit danny will need em...I can see some fool trying to run 15psi on a hot day

  23. As of a few minutes ago my engine build is at this stage. Pistons and conrods are out Crank is out Timing chain is off Cam is still in the block I'm currently considering sending the crank and rods off to get cryo freezed. I'm also looking into getting some standard bore ACL Duralite pistons. At the same time as the crank and rods are away I'll get the block hot tanked and decked so its nice, flat and CLEAN!. EFI should be here in a week or two
