European designing gives me the craps. Lets see. Today, 2006, id say they have pretty good safety, got the hole aerodynamics down tap, along with air flow in motors (well, Toyota keeps going back to Yamaha.. but thats another rant). Cars are ment to be practical, to suit the buyer. Look how many cars are out today, the range, prices.. etc. Lets take nicks view -> Aerodynamics? - new cars, round, yup, they are aerodynamic. Look at a new corolla. Its aerodynamic, and its 20,000 worth. Look at your average Porshe, its aerodynamic, but costs one more zero than a corolla. I know what looks better. Look at a Ke20 Corolla. Its round, and its got some lovely design elements in it. Who says you can't put a bit of varity into new cars? The price does. Some of the main things that have changed about cars in aerodynamics, is the angle of the windscreen, the size of the roof, and how everything generally is flowing, with minimal harsh bumps. Who says you can't integrate some style, within this principal? But, like everything, technology moves on, and they get better and better. I Still put money on you could make a Ke70 as Aerodynamic as a new corolla, without changing the body shape :P. I didn't say anything about how much it would cost tho.. ! Look at how planes work, with the low pressure thing, how air flows, etc. Now think, does air flow better on itself, or on a flat object? If you had lots of money, I'm sure you could position many plasma air jets on the front of the Ke70, projecting the air over the car, in such a way that the car is like a big seed on wheels. Of course, id be putting a big undercarriage on the car 1/2 the shape and bubbled accordingly to act like a bottom down force with more jets.. ahhh yada yada more ramble. If i was to design a car, id be doing things quite differently, yet still keeping to the basic principals of aerodynamics. Fuel Efficiency? Less drag from air, easier to move, less load on motor, better economy. Todays motors are under tuned so badly from factory, because of emotions. I can assure you if an old Ke70 corolla could get down to 6.6L per 100kms on freeway driving, with a 1.3 carby AND a square body.. its gota be saying something ;) Modern Design? yeah, if bland eggs colored from the selection pastels from MS Paint with assorted plastic parts to finish the car off, inside and out does it for you, then off you go little chap, hand over some douche for a new FWD mobile. Not wanting some KE70 looking shitbox from the 80s? - Nick, if thats the worst car you can come up with with relation to design from any era.. i need to lend you that book Jamie got me called "Lemons" hehehehe :y:

its steep, but thats what the MINNNTTT CLEAN ones go for. overrated Ae71 can be upto 3500, (were talkin all un-molested, long rego with genuine road worth certs here), with average dunnga goin from 1500 to 2500.

Update time ! (pics to come later tonight, thanks Justin) Okie dokie, time for a milestone update. Yesterday, the upholstery (from 1982 CS Ke70) of 2X front seats and rear seats + Roof lining were sent to Mr. upholstery on the other side of town. Will be finished in a month or 2.. Soooooooo can't wait :lock: fuel lines finished being sanded & painted; too bad we ran out of paint in the end.. next week :2thumbs: So, this week officially starts the end and the start of the dismantling of the white car :lock: :lock:. most of the interior will be taken out, modified and put into the blue car, returning the white car, eventually, back to stock. :D :n: ;)

Pfft BS, just tell me what i want to know.. It was worth a try; tho If its of any use, i can try to dig up some 4ac engine manuals for you? possibly Ae82.. you may just have to imagine the motor being the other way around.. thats all :jamie:

7AFTE piston slap.. Darn, thats the ONLY case ive ever herd of. I'm tending to believe that the 7afte is just a 7afe standard motor, possibly decompressed with just a turbo added; Some say they are a weak bottom end, others say otherwize. At work, i can't remember the last time we got an Ae92/Ae101/Ae112r type corollas in with the 7afe that was giving any motor problems !

oh and for the record, this thread has been active for a year, even tho the project has been going for a lot longer ! pretty good, considering theres been almost 14,000 views. Thats like 39 per day or about 1.6 every hour for the last year. ahaha, I'm stoked :D !

Bit of a random update. Finally picked up Ep91 airbox assembly. It still has all the piping and crap attached to it - as well as an air intake temp sensor ; its giving me evil ideas for the dash hahah. Got it for the sum of $45 bucks ! Oh, and i never really officially announced it, but the pics kinda give it away.... The motor which is in it, is a JDM 4age bigport, running a JDM T50. The Diff is a series 2- T18, and it has a 2way cusco center. :D Dash is getting there.. got the chrome rings from the UK last week.. they are HOT ! :) !! -> but as we are still renovating @ home, everythings kinda packed up. Will get back to it soon.. gota send away to get purspex made, mount gauges, then the final, (hard) task of the LED lighting with the lexus touch :y: Getting many evil ideas about the door trims. Will have to put ideas up later on. Oh, and i don't know if i have said it before, but i got a lexus service manual (its like leather, soft bound with gold edges ! - Soo bling) - its all for the effect :D Still gota finish painting fuel lines, and get the fuel tank done. More sanding and painting ! 'Cyas
