recently rebuilt 7mge with around 20 thou removed from the block and head. (compression should be around 10.5:1), ran it in by mildly thrashing it. But now have the problem with TERRIBLE fuel eco. my mate who was following me while i was giving it a boot said it was blowing black smoke all thru the rev range. 60L of 98 octance just got 300km. timing was set at the factory 8 degrees. but i could feel like it didnt want to pull nicely. therefore bumped it up to 15, went a little beter then laster bumped it up to 22! now it ʞ©$ɟing PULLS! heres a pic of the plug any ideas on what to check? o2 sensor. afm? tps? vac leaks?

i replied to his pm. also when refering to cams please go by the DURATION @ 50 thou. this is a more accurate way of dermining the size of the cam

I'm 99.9% its cam timing. my old 4k was the same! didnt like any revs past 5 grand. when i decided to put a bigger cam in it because i conviced myself that was the problem i found the cam was a tooth out. fml

if you earth out the plug for the sender the light should come on. ive had in the past were it was slightly loose cause the oil light to flicker. mind you this was on a fresh engine so bricks were shat!

do recommend removing the motor to do a sump gasket. ive done 3 in car and all have leaked because it wont sit right in the back corners. remove the engine and do it. slight smear of threebond and replace all studs with bolts & washers

better off just going down there. if theres nothing listed they'll match something up

pedders. take a sample along if you can

swap 2 and 3 spark plugs and turn over the engine with no filter on. the backfiring should clean it out the carb. if thats doesnt fix it rev the living ʇ~~ɔhole out of it with no filter on it

only difference between 5k and 4k/3k is 5k has return line on it, all interchangable
