  1. doesnt one of the gran turismos have a spoontah?
  2. i still don't see why you don't just get a puller. for what its worth i broke the end off a cold chisel. like the entire second taper, not just a chip out of it by hitting a wheel bearing case. they are case hardened, and i would assume these are too. I'm a carpenter so I'm pretty good at hammering shit and i didnt leave a mark in it. so id give up on that idea and use a puller.
  3. if you want aircon gear i may sell it off my car if your interested. is off a 4k but id assume its virtually identical, except maybe the bracket? bracket may even be the same.. anywho, what body kit is this you speak of? ive seen the AJPS chin thingos but nothing else...? cheers, andrew good luck with the dash, sounds like a mission. ive got a couple of spares, on perfect and one with a lift on the recessed bit above where it says corolla if you are interested, dunno how postage would go tho...
  4. ive got a puller. think it came from beenleigh bearings. wasnt cheap. bring the crank here and pay me enough ill get it out for you. easier option is get a new one
  5. good thinking. i always have a lump of timber in front of it to stop it going too further or impaling itself on the other side of the caliper...
  6. all depends how seized they are. ive run 120 psi into a caliper and it hasnt budged. id love to set up a booster and pedal on my work bench, that would be ideal...
  7. probably because the calipers move more freely in all the others. an inch is a decent amount the hardness of the pedal is caused by a resistance to movement, not a excess of vacuum. the test showed the booster is working so that is not the problem. des, i never use rebuild kits. have you pulled a caliper apart before? my guess will be that behind the seal around the piston there will be a large collection of calcified brake fluid and this is causing the pistons to not want to move. getting them apart is the hardest bit, best method i have found is doing them on the car clamp 3 of the four rubber lines, and pump pedal. this will push the piston out. clamp that line, unclamp another and repeat until all pistons are out. this is made much more difficult with twin piston calipers i promise. once apart just scrape all the shit out, if the seals are truly f@$ked replace them. if not just wack her back together and enjoy your braking. one thing to remember is make sure u clean the sliders if not u might get a bias to one side.
  8. trev you mustnt understand. the more vacuum you ahve the less force you need on the brake pedal. des, and no a 6 wont have more vaccum. more air flow but still around the same in/mg. des, we have found the booster to be working. hows the brake fluid? if the fluid is good the calipers are gunged up and need to be stripped and cleaned.
  9. your right. they look god awful like that. can't wait for the next update :D
  10. carby kit isnt very expensive, just a few hours of shitting around to do it right. do what i said and i would be surprised if your economy doesnt improve. also, how old is the oil in the motor?
  11. get in car. press foot down hard on brake pedal start car. does the pedal drop further? the more the vac the more boost = the less effort.
  12. hits the spring or the strut? if your hitting the spring the wheel/tyre combo has a larger rolling diameter than standard corolla. as standard corolla the tyre sits below the spring seat
  13. do a carby kit. replace all the servicable electrics. you can only adjust the idle mix on the aisins, you will need to check your float levels when you do the carby kit. doing this and a driving style change saw me drop from 13 to a consistant 8.5 in a ke70 with 4k and extractors. drive like i used to and i can still get it over 10L/100. and thats lugging my work tools around in the back too. id say you may have a little vac leak, so old seals in the carb, and some old plugs/points/leads/rotor button. and having just got your license i reckon your probably trying to make the 4k do things it was never meant to. fuel economy has the most to do with your right foot than anything else. change at 3000 in each gear, and use light throttle to get there. its no race. with dominos hot cell the pizza wont get cold :D
  14. you chose to run the newer style rear quarter vents, is this just a personal preference or what you had at hand? lookin the goods guys :D couple more months and she should be done :)
  15. ahh, i just had a look at your threads and it is actually a publica, not a corolla. i thought it was a chopped up rolla at first. kudos for the publica :D i wanna wack my 1g in one... one day :) anywho, have you checked if the tank matches up with anything else? unlikely i know, but its worth a try. maybe get in contact with mr revhead as he is in NZ, so if he can dig anything up. or find someone in an asian country where they are a dime a dozen and find one. failing that, get a poly tank made, or get a fulli hektik habibi droptank or just get a shop to knock something up that will fit. see you on the next cruise? i wanna have a good look at one of these things :(
  16. lol, mine took about 6 weeks id forgotten id tried to change it even :D
  17. considered just replacing the tank? i know its not what you asked but its the way i would go about it.
  18. but u don't know what it started at...
  19. as much as you want it too ;)
  20. woot, its as dirty as my girlfriend. looks great too ;) good to see movement in the right direction. if you ever need help of a sort let me know and ill be there :bash:
  21. woot :bash: :no2: you did all that...i chopped my bumpstops u win ;)
  22. it wont change the idle pressure, just the max pressure it reaches. 90 psi is alot of oil pressure for a motor making not that much power really. the 3 mm to give 80psi should be more than enough.
  23. woot :) hurry up and finish dammit! your out of tafe now, so theres no excuses!!
  24. are they the clippers i sold you or did you end up using something else? not to be picky, but shouldnt you have wrapped the sliders to stop them getting covered in paint?...
