Haven't updated this in ages. The 4AGE/T50 is all mounted, headers are on, engine loom is mostly wired up. But the list of things left to do goes a little like this: Route the water pipes/hoses, install the radiator Install the oil cooler Find a T50 speedo cable Replace the TVIS actuator and plug(it's broken for some reason) Convert the intake manifold to RWD Mount the airbox Make a front pipe to connect the headers to the rest of the exhaust Install tailshaft Install master cylinder, slave cylinder, hardline and softline Replace broken reverse switch Plumb the fuel lines/install fuel pumps Mount ECU and dash loom Wire the loom to the ignition barrel and into the dash cluster Re-install dash Not much work at all... syke!
  3. When I went to do the clutch today I just aligned it by eye (this took a fair while), then bolted it all up and the gearbox shaft went in first go! So lucky.
  4. Looks good man. So close to being finished!
  5. I missed that big swell we had because of exams :(
  6. Was thinking around lunchtime if not before? I'll give you a call when I get out of the surf. Also after inspecting them, the brakes will definitely need a rebuild lol. Soz.
  7. Exedy heavy duty to suit 200mm bigport flywheel. I'm pretty sure RWD and FWD 4AGE clutches are the same, I'll confirm that in a sec. If I decide I have no use for it I'll bring it up with me when I go to Brisbane on the weekend? Edit: it seems that the FWD and RWD clutch plates are the same but the RWD pressure plate is thicker than the FWD pressure plate. Second Edit: ^I got that wrong, the clutch plates are a little bit different and the FWD pressure plate is thicker than the RWD pressure plate (FWD is 36mm thick, RWD is 34mm thick).
  8. Ohh shit I keep forgetting! I'll come down tomorrow? By the way I checked out those brakes and one of them is disassembled, I forgot I pulled it apart when I was going to rebuild it and never put it back together. But I'll bring down all the AE86 stuff I can find.
  9. About to install my brand new heavy duty clutch kit that cost me heaps of money, so I pull the gearbox off the 4AGE that came in the donor car to find it has the same clutch and it looks new as well, gahhh wasted money! And I can't be bothered to drive to the local auto store to buy a clutch aligning tool, not sure if I will regret this decision.
  10. According to Castrol, the 3K uses 2.7L of oil and the 4K uses 3.0L of oil. Couldn't find the capacity of the 5K. Edit: 5K uses 3.0L of oil.
  11. Pretty sure they are different, I had a 3K, 4K and 5K side by side recently and all the dipsticks/dipstick tubes looked different, however I didn't get them out and measure them. I should have but I didn't think of it at the time.
  12. That sucks! I thought paypal was supposed to be really good with that sort of thing?
  13. IMO if you can afford to spend thousands of dollars doing a 4AGE engine conversion, you can afford to get it engineered. And if you can't afford to get it engineered you certainly cannot afford to pay for damages to another vehicle/person if you are unfortunate enough to have a crash, which will be the case because your insurance won't cover it. It just seems like the most sensible option to me, I can't see why people take the risk of not getting it engineered and legal. I'm not having a dig at you Ben but that's just what I think is way to go, however while you're on your Ps it's going to be illegal for you to drive your car anyway. Dave where did you get your car engineered?
  14. Why not just get it engineered? That way you won't get defected and you won't void your insurance.
  15. Did a 5K swap on a mates KE30, had some problems getting the cooling system to seal. Then when it was all working properly... we did a skid :D
  16. Don't you already have a PS3?
  17. Neato. What are you going to do about the submerged lift-pump wiring? Are you going to get fuel pump wires out of another car or just use standard electrical wires?
  18. 4AGE water system is different to 4AC. Check this link: http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Tech:Engine/A_Series/Cooling_Guide If I were you, I'd buy a 4age FWD loom, adapt it to RWD use it to run the EFI and potentially save thousands of dollars on buying and tuning twin carbs.
  19. This one was apparently 25mm off the ground at the crossmember:
  20. Nice!
  21. All I'll be doing is car stuff and sleeping until I get it done. Occasional surf every now and then but mainly just in the shed all day.
  22. Starting mine tomorrow! I reckon it will take me a week to get it done.... you guys better hurry up. Willis you should put your MA61s up for a prize to whoever get's their car driving first. :D
  23. ^Did you touch my drum set?
  24. Looks so good!
