No Spark! Please Someone Help Me Ive Tried It All!
rian replied to sharpshane's topic in TExx Corolla Discussion
Check you're getting power at the "engine" fuse in the fuse panel near the steering wheel(pull the "engine" fuse out and test for power at the fuse socket with a test light/multimeter), if you're not getting power there you've probably blown your fusible link up near the battery terminal. -
Yeah I'm at UQ doing my second year of Civil. Engineering is super hard, I'm already over it.
-
Are you at UQ?
-
Ah cool, Luke's looked awesome at that height.

200mm of travel? But what about the body length, extended length etc?
-
Yes! What damper are you using?

What Bucket Seats To Sit Nice And Low In Ke70?
rian replied to Isam_31's topic in Automotive Discussion
Hey Reed what's the Monza like? I've always wanted to know if they were any good, they come in fibreglass shell as well. I've always wondered how super tall people drive KEs, I could hardly get my feet on the peddles with the standard steering wheel in the way and I'm about 6' -
I started with 8kg/mm 200mm springs with R31 skyline dampers in AE86 coilovers in my KE70. That setup was rubbish for a daily drive. Then I swapped the R31 skyline dampers for KYB AGX SW20 rear dampers, and even on the softest setting they were still crazy still. I now use 5kg/mm 200mm springs with the KYB AGX SW20 dampers, and I still think they are too stiff for everyday driving. I've got a pair of 4kg/mm springs to replace them. However, in my track car I had 7kg/mm 200mm with Koni reds from and Audi and that was quite nice to drive on, stiff but not harsh like the AGXs. I'd like to get new Konis for it and run them with the 5kg/mm springs. And whoever built the coilovers in my track car stuffed up, they cut ~65mm out of the strut and used a damper with ~330mm body length and 500mm extended length. The car is illegally low, can't go any higher and only has maybe 2" droop. It might work for an 8kg/mm drift setup but it's kind of annoying me not being able to get the car a bit higher, especially when the exhaust is only an inch off the ground... I agree that the aluminium sleeve is shit, it doesn't fit properly and rattles around on the strut. Though I have not had any problem with the top hats, the needle roller ones seem to work well. The spring seat does not tighten via grub screws, the spring seat is more of a clamp. When you tighten the bolt in the clamp it closes up the gap in the spring seat and pulls it tight against the threaded sleeve, kind of like a hose clamp. And you can get any spring rate available in the Eibach catalogue with the coilover kit. I got 5kg/mm. But still I agree that the kit is not that good, a weld on sleeve would be much better.

I won't be back home in Byron Bay for at least a few weeks, but I'll see if I can get someone back home to measure it for you. 2.5inches should work assuming you can just adjust out the difference with the push rod on the master cylinder, that is if the AE82 push rod is actually a different length to the AE71 push rod.
-
I bought an AE71 slave cylinder recently, it didn't come with the push rod thing either. But I had a spare one from my old AE71 slave cylinder, I would measure it for you but it's back in Byron Bay and I'm in Brisbane at the moment, though I recall it being around 2.5-3inches. I'm not sure if that helps. If the AE82 slave push rod is slightly different couldn't you just adjust the push rod for the master cylinder under the dash to make up the difference?

Did you call HM to find that out, or is that just what you've heard? Other brands you could try that make headers for K engines are Hurricane Headers and Coby Headers.
-
You can get 4-1 extractors from your local Supercheap Auto, probably Repco and Autobarn too. I think the brand is HM Headers Here's a link: http://www.hmheaders.com.au/shopexd.asp?id=206

I personally an not a fan of matte black bonnets, check the pic on the rollaclub home page of Spencer's car when he first got it.
-
Paint it black, tell the cop you couldn't find a standard replacement exhaust manifold for a 30 year old car and your original manifold rusted away. Just say a mild steel manifold is all you could get.

I got my money back around 2pm, which was when Joe told me he'd refund the money.
-
I just spoke to Joe as well, he said my money should be refunded this afternoon when he finishes work. I'll post up here again when or if I do actually get refunded.

I finally got the AE82 running today, though I'm not sure what was causing the problem. I took the exhaust manifold off and checked out the wires to the starter motor, wiggled them around incase they were shorting. Then I pulled out the starter relay that someone has installed and tested it to make sure it was working. I tested the power to the starter motor when the key was in the 'acc', 'ignition' and 'start' position and everything seemed normal. So I put it all back together and tried to start it; this time it didn't crank over in the 'ignition' position, good sign. Then when I turned the key to 'start' it began cranking, yeah boi! The starter cranking over was soon followed by a humungous bang, must have been all the fuel that had built up in the engine from cranking but not starting. And now it starts fine, I've started it half a dozen times with no problems. In other news, I put the twincam wheel in my daily KE, it is so nice to drive with. Way better than any other wheel I've driven with(which isn't many). And I discovered I had an AE82 SX Seca boot lip hiding in the boot of the car, which I'm going to use on the front of the brown KE70 as a chin spoiler, score!

Wheels look good. It's refreshing to see someone running a normal wheel and tyre size for once and not opting for the 'stretch' look. Good work.

^That photo was taken near where I live.

My brother bought a cheapo one from Autobarn I think and it never functioned properly. It would always slowly lose pressure, no matter how hard you locked off the valve thingy. And that was when it was brand new. I've been using my dad's humungous trolley jack which he got from his dad, the thing weighs a tonne. It's probably 40 years old and still going, though it has had new seals put in it.

Don't ever buy a jack from Supercheap Auto, unless it's a brand name one. There have been a few recalls on the SCA jacks, they are shit.
