oh what a nissan feeling! Posted June 19, 2009 Author Report Posted June 19, 2009 Ok, car is getting the cage built as we speak, 6 point basic andra cage with removable side intrusion bar. + i added 2 extra bars. It is all mild steel, as chro-moly is not street legal :y: I think i need more power to tow the damn cage!!! Organizing my log book and andra licence now so i can get approvals. Quote
Doogs Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 Looking good Matt, great job. I must say I am happy about your choice to change the colour of the door handles. I love the green, but in my opinion it needs something to break it up. Also like the heat coating, practical and looks good. Quote
lilmacca Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 hay matt cars is looking well how is the progress going? just wondering did you need to do anything to the engine bay to fix the sr20? or is it just the mounts? a little bird once told me the firewall needs to be moved back (don't no if its true though) so thought you could clarify it for me. thanks Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted June 24, 2009 Author Report Posted June 24, 2009 Yeh, i think it will look a bit nicer with the chrome back, will find out soon i hope. No firewall mods, (not legal in QLD). Pretty easy fit really. Cage is in and looking good! Pics are on their way. Picked up my paint too, 4 litres of 2009 ford green basecoat. Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted July 2, 2009 Author Report Posted July 2, 2009 Picked up door handles yesterday, they come up awesome!!! Also getting the cage looked at by an andra inspector on sunday, then i can start painting  Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted July 11, 2009 Author Report Posted July 11, 2009  got my cage approved by andra inspector, just need my seat belt mounts done, and tailshaft loop to get it signed off. a few pics: got the paint for the rola and painted the cooler so it hides behind the grill a bit better. been a bit busy getting the shorty pejero i just bought going. I bought it with bhg and have got the heads fully redone and have reassembled it. It failed rwc on the cv boots, so i am doing those today. I have also been getting the commo ready to sell, painting and fitting a bodykit i got for free. Only problem is someone crashed into me on monday! Next task for the rolla is fitting the front seats, and the battery cut off on the rear of the car  Quote
PMP020 Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 well havnt you been a busy bee!! cage looks like it fits like a glove. must be strange having an actual carport to work on ur car, instead of that sketchy looking shanty hut that appeared in the earlier photos of the build. always keep up the good work. cheers, scott. oh what a nissan feeling! Posted August 23, 2009 Author Report Posted August 23, 2009 ^^^ thanks mate, it is so much better having a shed, i can actually sleep at night now knowing its out of the weather. :D Progress.... i drilled the battery cut off switch into the rear of my car, and created and welded a bracket in. Also drilled a hole for a boot lock into the rear, it has already been deleted on the bootlid, but ANDRA rules says i have to put one in. So i put it in the ke25 position instead. Pulled the engine out to start on the engine bay, this one will not be going back in as i plan to have the new one built in time. Removed the manual pedal box, column, and any other junk in my way. The sr20 auto bellhousing requires a heap more clearance than the manual one, so i had to dummy it up to see what neeeds to move out of the way, i grabbed an old block and mounted it up. There will be changes made to the front of the tunnel. The C4 i will be using is a very small box, so only the nissan bellhousing has clearance issues. Started welding up some of the holes i don't need, Then started to really get into it, i am thinking about straightening the sheetmetal over the wheels on either side to make it really smooth. I got a hotrod builder i know to come over and show me some of the techniques they use, still not sure if i will bother as there is a lot of work in it. ;) Also went to see Jip and got some pretty overrated guards off him, and a front pan, pretty happy about that. The missus sprung me, this is how i spend my spare time........so sad ;) Quote
radrollaz Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) Looking good Matt, your car is getting an exreme makeover. ;) love your work mate, its going to look great :D When i was putting my car back together i had a rule in my head , If any part goes back on the car it gets eighter painted, chromed or powdercoated and we did the same with marty's car but we took it too another level painting everything in 2pac , in,out and under. I'm looking forward to seeing this beast back together ;) Loving the pics, keep em coming  Edited August 23, 2009 by radrollaz Quote
sleepercorty Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 looks like a 6cyl c4 if so don't throw out the standard bellhousing put it on ebay i just sold one for $54 plus $33 freight they are starting to get hard to get for the ford boys, because most of them are in my shed haha. Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted August 26, 2009 Author Report Posted August 26, 2009 Thanks heaps for the comments guys, I'm trying to keep the detail up there mick, not doing underneath, but trying to be real fussy with the rest. I just hope my patience continues. corty man, Yep youre right about the bellhousing it is for a 6, i might have to chuck it on ebay then i recon. Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted October 16, 2009 Author Report Posted October 16, 2009 (edited) update, been working crap hours so progress has slowed, but its still going. Engine bay has had lots of attention, lots smoother, many many man hours. a bit of surface rust starting.. New tunnel clearance for the auto bellhousing, bolted the crossmember back up, put dummy block in, real happy! Started to build the new engine, waiting for a few parts atm, forgot to order big end bearings dammit. Also picked a new colour for my interior, decided white is tacky, so this is it. I picked it off a vinal sample and got it colour matched for the roll cage and other little bits Have more pics of more progress but the computer is gay, so will chuck them up soon. oh what a nissan feeling! Posted December 2, 2009 Author Report Posted December 2, 2009 Annual update time!!! Been on holidays and stuff, pretty unmotivated atm. Have been working at getting the engine bay really really tidy looking. welded up seam along top of firewall. Etch primer Also been fixing the rust in the roof of my pos '70 crown wagon, thinking about getting it on the road. It is a rusty bitch, but i have decided to bother making it like a brand new one! Cut the gutters off, and welded up the seam. 2 new patches on drivers side, which is the good side! Passenger side sections cut out This one at the front This one at the rear. Have welded it all up now, but lost the pics, might take some more now. Quote
