Hi there Si thanks for your reply and information! we were looking at the button clutch but was wondering what are they like for everyday driving ?.

I don't mind it now I'm well used to it, but I did have a button clutch in my mazda for years before getting it so was already used to them. Pretty tight and grabby especially when married to a lightened flywheel but not as badly on/off as they're sometimes may out to be.

On the other hand another launy rc member put one behind his k-t and really hated it. he ended up getting the full face hd plate instead within a week iirc.

Button clutches are horrible around town, and a really good way to attract attention from the law as you bunny hop starting off around corners. But presumably not too much traffic up your way so perhaps manageable.

 

Why not have a chat to your brake and clutch place, if they are any good, and see what can be done pressure plate and/or linings wise. Many years back we used to go to a place in Berkeley Street in Central Melbourne just behind Ryans Tools. They would make up anything you needed, riveting this diaphragm to that pressure plate. Rather than selling something off the shelf.

 

Ryans is certainly no more (very sad day that), and a quick google search tells me that 97 Berkeley St was sold off a few years ago to become apartments. Wade Cams used to be just up the road then too......

Is your clutch a spung or solid center Si?

Sprung. They use to do solid one as well but discontinued them about the time I got mine..... Speaking of which I've had it for about 5 years now!

Is probably what I will go to when I ditch that pesky 200mm set up and run some boost.

 

Stu, a sprung button is a fair bit easier to deal with on a daily. But I'd still have a chat with that guy you got your brakes from to see what they can do.

Hi there everyone ! Haven't been on for a while nothing has changed and the little Rollla is running great. I just nominated Thomas little Rolla for ( car of the year ) so i thought i would just bring his thread back up for you all to check it out as i said in his nomination this was a home build car by ourselves with a bit of help from Stu (Kickn5k) thanks again mate and is his daily driver.

I forgot how good this car is: it's definitely worthy of car of the year.

Thanks Rian we will see how it goes this year . I think it is worthy as well after all the dramas with engine fires and motor builds i think most people would have given up but we stuck at it and it came back better than ever.

Certainly a worthy ride for COTY between yourself, steerfast rally, n daisy i dunno who will get my vote? pretty chuffed to get nominated ourselves..

Well as the nominations for COTY close tonight i thought id bring Thomas little Rolla back on screen for you all to check out. There isn't any thing else we can really wright about his little Rolla as this is one project car that i can say is pretty much finished ( I hope HAHA ) so i hope you look at his thread and see just how much work has gone into it. As i put in his nomination this was a home build father & son project fully funded by Thomas ( Other than all my labour HAHA ) through picking & packing money ( great effort son ) it is fully engineered with all the mods and is now driven daily also a big thanks to Stu and Cleveland for your nominations.

110 bhp is a great result. Should be a very lively little car.

Hi Craig ! yeah its a great little car to drive and we believe we could get a little bit more out of it with playing around with fuel&tune but it may sacrifice reliability which the son needs as this is his daily driver , surprisingly it still returns a pretty good mpg and yeah without sounding to modest we recon it looks fantastic as well and thanks for your great comments .
