The Nitrogen Tyre thread reminded me of something...

 

Not long after I imported my JZX100, I was underneath giving it a comprehensive service and found that the Japanese owner had added one of those little magnets that clamp around the fuel line and supposedly 'align the atoms in the fuel making it more combustible, = POWAAAH'

 

Which then reminded me of Hiclones... For those unfamiliar with this earth-shatteringly stupid invention, the basic premise is shoving a bit of bent aluminium in your intake pipe will make the car go faster.

So I was wondering, what other MIRACLE powerup products or methods have you seen/used? You know, the kinda products that only cost $15 on eBay and yet manufacturers who spend billions of dollars on R&D every year somehow managed to overlook... THE FOOLS

 

Or maybe your grandad swore black and blue that adding two teaspoons of caustic soda to each tank of fuel in the kingswood made it run cooler and get twice as many k's to the tank...

A 1600 I once looked at with intent to buy had been fitted with some electrolytic anti-rust device, never looked into the science but it was apparently optioned onto a bunch of Mitsubishi's. The seller worked for a Mitsi dealer so scored a couple and fitted them.

 

I didn't buy the car because of the bog and early rust I found, so you do the math.

 

E Superchargers are my favourite.

I found a phone, several AAA batteries, parking tickets from Osaka and about 2000 yen in small coins :D

well its not magical, its REAL but the electric supercharger made from 2 pc fans

adds so much power you might not believe it!

 

TWO 80mm fans both flowing at 2000rpm EACH!!!

 

THATS LIKE 2 SUPERCHARGERS OR TURBOS STRAIGHT INTO YOUR ENGINE!!!

 

and they run straight off your BATTERY with speaker wire so EASY INSTALLING

 

WOW everyone says how much better the car is after no wonder they buy them

 

FITS all CARS every type ever made and maybe BIKES

Those 'Anerps' (Sp?) elecrontic rust preventing things do actually work. They're sort of like an electronic sacrificial anode.

The thing abaout them though that a lot of people don't realise is they only work well if all of the panels are painted on both sides.

The Resistor across the ol air flow meter fooling the ecu into thinking that the air is always cold or something, 40% more power, but 50% more fuel effiency. I like the way they sell it though, the resistor is free but the installation manual is 40 bucks or something ;)

hmm that restistor thing doesnt make much sense....

 

if the ecu thinks the air is cold, then it thinks its more dense, thus more air particles, thus it will add in more fuel. ie not saving you much, and it will be running rich...thus slowing you down...maybe it tricks the ecu into thinking its hot air, then its simliar to my 2nd paragraph. (though 40% and 50% numbers are a little extreme, lets try 2 and 3%) (which makes me remember how AWESOME my car is to drive on a cold winters night...it loves it...and i love driving it).

 

i remember hearing (from beerhead...hehe) that you can put a potentiometer in line with the water temp sender on a 4age, and essentially lean out the engine, thus giving you more power. i think this has some merit, but you would want a decent wideband to see what your car is doing...mmm detonation.

wow that's a really good way to blow up a motor with some home-made electronics work!

I got a $15 instant power upgrade that does actually work and have used it. Just get a bottle of nitro fuel from a RC hobby shop and whack it in your tank.. instant power:) used it in a Datsun 200b. :D Not so good if you like your car and want to keep it. ;)

anyone remember the tailpipe tip that was designed to pull the exhaust gasses through better, the claim was for better fuel economy and power, instead of a supercharger it was a supersucker

He stood so strongly by it... Although he had apparently been spending time in Nimbin around the time of its conception?

I'd love to see someone do a thorough study of the effects of one!

Hey hey, i looked into one of those Hiclone things for the old ae82 seca. Shot off email after email to the company asking for information, cost, etc etc. Got a bit more info then what was on the website but no costings. Finely got the price - about 100 bucks for the product, about 250 to have it "specially" fitted (that is having all the maths done to find the correct position) and an extra 200 to have the computer re-mapped or some crap. I could have done it myself but they wouldn't have guaranteed the product nor the out come...

And which part of a thorough study are you talking about ? Nimbin ? or the polariser ?
