Fat Bastard Customs Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 the reason i ask about the seats, if u havent had them retrimed yet, is that I found KE70 seats to be a little high and quite pissweak ( i broke 2 but i am 150kgs) In case you hadnt thought of it yet, AE86 seats bolt straight in and are about 2-3" lower but still pretty weak (i broke 2 of those aswell :P ) and RA60 celica seats also fit with a bit of modification and are lower, stronger and have a much sportier shape than KE70 seats. I've got RA60 seats in mine and i havent broken 1 in 18mths of driving, just a thought, i'd just hate to see you put all that effort and money into stock seats and find that u either break them or find them uncomfortable, nice work btw :D Quote
Medicine_Man Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 The problem with the band breaking under the seats is a common problem with KE70 seats. Nothing that a good auto upholster can't fix. Quote
Paul Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 How tall are you Matt? The AE86 seat suggestion is a good one. They do (almost) bolt straight in. Just have to modify one bracket it think. I will be doing the same for my project car, 4 AE86 seats set me back $80. Quote
Fat Bastard Customs Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 i had AE86 ones in my last KE70, they bolt straight in, I'm only 5'10" and i had problems with hieght. Just a thought Quote
love ke70 Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 the bands tend to break when the seats arnt used for a while and they dry up and lose theyre spring, i think mines gone :P poor xx seat...soo comfy anywho, when people start to use them again thats when they frey and gradually break anyways, good work guys, matt ur gonna be a very proud father one day ;) Quote
Teddy Posted September 21, 2006 Author Report Posted September 21, 2006 Bit of a random update. Finally picked up Ep91 airbox assembly. It still has all the piping and crap attached to it - as well as an air intake temp sensor ; its giving me evil ideas for the dash hahah. Got it for the sum of $45 bucks ! Oh, and i never really officially announced it, but the pics kinda give it away.... The motor which is in it, is a JDM 4age bigport, running a JDM T50. The Diff is a series 2- T18, and it has a 2way cusco center. :D Dash is getting there.. got the chrome rings from the UK last week.. they are HOT ! :) !! -> but as we are still renovating @ home, everythings kinda packed up. Will get back to it soon.. gota send away to get purspex made, mount gauges, then the final, (hard) task of the LED lighting with the lexus touch :y: Getting many evil ideas about the door trims. Will have to put ideas up later on. Oh, and i don't know if i have said it before, but i got a lexus service manual (its like leather, soft bound with gold edges ! - Soo bling) - its all for the effect :D Still gota finish painting fuel lines, and get the fuel tank done. More sanding and painting ! 'Cyas Quote
beerhead Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 Nice one dude, things are coming along nicely. Let us know if you need help with the bigport loom, I've done a few of them with my mate now, and there alot easier than a bloody 20V. Quote

It's looking great so far, and the thought of the finished product is extremely tantalising. Quote
anastasios Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 I'm currently in the process of sanding back the rust in my brothers 71 and its in the same sorta areas, did u reweld with metal? was it a hard job because i don't really want to take it a panel beater who will over charge Quote
johnny Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 its great work and it gives every one idea's, its all also great with the photo updates keep up the good work. Should look awesome when on the road, real head turner :P Quote
Fat Bastard Customs Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 welding metal is easy, welding metal panels can be a bitch coz the more heat you use the more the panel will warp. Just keep the amps down and practice on some spare panels 1st Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 We only keep looking because we want you to think we like you Teddy :( Just kidding, I just can't wait for summer, cuz as we all know, much more car work gets done in the warmer months :) Quote
