  1. You checked TPS???
  2. Yeah, I'll be looking at doing cosmetic stuff now. Slowly though..... I'm expecting my first daughter mid November so I won't have much time to do things. Hopefully mid next year I'll pick it all up again but I will be slowly doing things until then. It's getting there. Cheers guys!
  3. It's an old school Haltech E6, fuel and ignition control. Unfortunately the Ignition output is dead on the ECU so the dizzy takes care of spark instead. It would be supercharged but I chose against it because I didn't have spark control and I didn't want to root around with the dizzy weights. So when I get a new ECU I'll slap the supercharger on. Piccies! A bit messy but it works. I need to make a new backing board and I'll neaten everything up. Damn those facet pumps are noisy!
  4. SHE LIIIIVVVVEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!! Finally got to the dyno and in less than three hours she is sweet! Sounds beasting! Turn them speakers up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-bOctd3WB4 Dyno graph with no usefull information. Apart from KW & AFR The cold start is a bit iffy, in that you can start it just fine but it won't hold idle for about 30 seconds untill it warms up just that little bit. From there it runs great. Launch is a little bit flat but then it kicks in and really pulls you back in the seat at 2500 rpm onwards. I think that might have to do something with the extractors. To eliminate the cold start I'm going to hunt down an IAC motor and valve and jigg something up. Supposedly ford does something really simple. Apart from that I'll see is GM has something compatible with my Haltech. I know know why the E6 was not the greatest choice simply because the resolution is not good. It only does mixtures at 500rpm incriments. Load sense is fine but by rpm these is much to be desired. I'm soo extatic right now words can't describe it. It feels really good when you have worked on something for soo long and given counless hours, blood, sweat, tears and then to see the outcome is just spectacular. It has rekindled my passion for it, so much soo that I think it's time for some body work! Unfortunately my computer has been wiped of all information from my current build ie, pictures, videos. But I will shortly write up something about aftermarket EFI using the 4k EFI gear. Woot!
  5. I would say that getting a starlet EFI tank would be a challenge in it self, unless of course it is from a modern model starlet. If I was you I would set up a surge tank and lift pump instead. It would be a better option anyway. I'll put up my info soon, just been a bit busy lately.
  6. I'll post up some of my stuff later on tonight.
  7. Hispano-Suiza HS21-GTS Prototype
  8. One thing to think about guys, Policemen, Firemen, Ambulance services. Now I know we do have an emergency services levy but the government pays the rest of the bill. With no government who would pay them? The bill would land on your lap or worst case the firemen would just watch your house burn down to the ground because you have no cash to save it! With that how many of you have had your house/car catch fire? Very few I would say thus not generating any decent revenue for the firemen. So when you do go up in flames it would cost you both your arms and most of your leg. Just something to ponder.....
  9. Unfortunately we are all animals like it or not and like animals we will behave in a way that our genetics describe us. Just like a vicious dog inherits it's traits from it's parents. Without proper training we grow wild and uncontrollable and so this is why we need a master to control us and stop us from destroying ourselves. From birth we are taught what is right and what is wrong, to fear punishment and retribution. This is what controls our actions and thoughts, without it we would just do what is best in our own interests and not the interests as a whole. This is why we need a form of government, I admit that our government is not perfect but it does do it's job to protect us from ourselves. Being an immigrant brought up by a reletavely poor family has taught me to value what I have, my parents are hard workers and it has rubbed off on me too. I was smacked by a belt when I was naughty as a child and this taught me to fear punishment and do the right thing. I am now 23, I have a good paying job with security, I have a mortgage, A wife and my first child is due to be born mid November. Where the hell am I going with this? Keep reading. Other families are not so fortunate and this is where the vicious cycle begins. The parents have no job, live off of welfare, do drugs, for some f@$ked up reason they have a kid, neglect it, do not restrain it or teach it right and wrong. This child then goes off the rails and becomes what his parents are. He has a high chance of committing a crime to support a habit because he does no have a job. This is the class of people that the government protects us from. The violent kind. The kind that does not fear punishment or retribution because they do not know any better. It's great that in our country these people cannot freely grab a hold of a firearm. I think that gun laws should be in place but not at the level that it is currently at. Gun crimes are not committed by registered owners but owners of illegal guns. So why punish someone who want's to do the right thing? Beats me. Governments are a great thing for human society and the illusion of democracy keeps us happy thinking that we have much of a say as to what goes down. Governments are inherently corrupt and always will be. Believe it or not. They are not corrupt in a way like you see in the movies but more so of peoples views of taking care of themselves and not other people. People with soo much wealth want to keep it and increase it, governments are a way of protecting their interests. Notice how many politicians are former union bosses/members? How many councillors own developments, shopping centres and businesses? Money rules this world, not laws, morals or ideals. Sure it makes me angry but that's just what it is and it will NEVER change. Want anarchy? Go to Afghanistan. It's about as good as it gets with lawlessness. People make their own laws and if you do not obey you will be either dismembered or killed. not put on trial for murder, killed. Admittedly Afghanistan was once a peaceful place and like Iran and Iraq were thriving cultural centres. I bet that if you looked at pictures of Afghanistan back in the 50s and 60s, apart from the attire of the people you would think that it was a town in America. Go look it up. Then America had to smear it's shit where it did not belong and now it is a war torn country controlled by the terrorists that they trained to fend off the Russian occupation, which was brought about by American intervention. Read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_war_in_Afghanistan . Russia was allied with the Afghanis and was there to protect the Democratic government that was in place. Basically Russia was bringing Democracy and a modern way of life to Afghanistan, as well as financial aid and military support against the Mujahideen, who had a deep Islamic view almost to the point of extremism. Ties to America were worsening, they didn't like the Russians, because they are Russian or someshit, so they financed and armed the Mujahideen. Eventually leading to the Government being overthrown and the extremists taking control. Great guys those Americans hey? People like me just want to live in peace and stress free, which is why I am a sheep and wouldn't have it any other way. People who have an agenda and generally feel as though society owes them something will always rally for anything, from my experience are also jobless and heavily on the green stuff. Basically lazy people who want more than they have without lifting a finger to get it. We came to Australia with nothing but the clothes we had and a few dollars saved. We were fortunate that we had cousins that took us in until we found a house to live in and work to support ourselves. This poor beginnings is what makes me happy with where we are at today in society. There are places far worse off than us and I am grateful that I am in a country that values it's people, takes care of their health, has a system to place people into work that do not have a job and supports us until we do find a job. There are a few countries that would do that. You should feel great when you go to sleep without worry what the next day brings. What are our fears here in Australia? I forgot to buy milk for my coffee in the morning? This is why I am happy with where I am at and am all too happy to sit where I am. Government? What government? Oh you mean the one that we only notice when it causes us some inconvenience and then we forget all about them until the next tax? At least it is a government that does not take us as prisoner for 10 years for writing posts such as this one. In time the government will change, laws will change, society will change and everything will be forgotten. Do you want to spend your life being angry or happy with the fact that you have a good life and that your children will have a good chance to have it better than what you did? I choose to be happy. Edit: I also Totally agree with you irokin. While I agree with most of what you have said Altezza I do not agree with Anarchy, in an ideal world where people are not violent it would work wonders. but with our current society we would tear ourselves apart leading to the near extinction of our race. We have grown soo detached from our environment that eventually we would not be able to sustain such a population with no form of control. We would definitely go backwards as a race. People like you and me could make it work but our neighbours would sooner kill us for the shirts off our backs.
  10. How do you overheat the electrical system? Are you pouring boiling water over the wires or something? You haven't routed the wires through the exhaust have you? No no no... More like just faulty electrics, they were designed to take heat so unless they are on fire I wouldn't say that they over heat. You probably have a sticky relay that needs replacing etc etc.
  11. If you could that would be great for other members on here too! Like me! :D
  12. I wouldn't recommend reading everything of his. At least not all at once.
  13. So no one has heard of Arthur C.Clarke?? 2001 a space odyssey? It's like being a Toyota fan and not knowing about corollas.
  14. Arthur C.Clarke. (for the sci-fi fans) I love the collection of short stories, I'll pull out the book when I find it again. Also +1 for There and Back again (the hobbit), the books just have soo much more detail and immersion in them than the movies. These days I just don't have the time to read and what I do read are instruction manuals.
  15. Ok..... Found a plug is missing on the inlet right at the back where I couldn't see it. Played around with the fuel pressure but it didn't really change much between 44 and 35psi. Then I thought I'd check the timing. Wooow it was at 20 degrees! The bolt was a tad loose and it let the dizzy rotate a bit. So here is is!!! current injector cycle is 1.4ms. Much less and it runs lean at idle. At first it is just idling, then I apply about 20% throttle then about 20% more then I give it a squeeze. This is for both videos and sorry but I thought the screen on the laptop might have ended up a bit clearer (second video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky5MK1V2jFQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQj4qa5LNXM Cheers for the files Taz, I'll be sifting through them very shortly. EDIT: Just had a loomk at a few of the maps, what is the load reffereing to? Throttle? Also the first map you sent me along with the software shows up as a blank tune. The rest of them work fine. At least now I know what it should start to look like in terms of ms increase per rpm. Cheers!
  16. NEW UPDATES PENDING!
  17. It Idles!!!!! Well you could call it that.... I'll let the video do the talking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11VWiZc2u8o So.... Is it running too rich? My 02 sensor can't register because of the idle being soo unsteady and is bouncing from 15.6 all the way to rich. The garage eventually fills up with white smoke, not oily, maybe a little black when I actually revv it. a slight increase in throttle opening does nothing, but then half a mm later it goes full ball at 30% throttle. I am now tuning off of manifold pressure rather than throttle. Here is the pic of that map only this is vs manifold pressure not throttle. Also this is the same for all RPM ranges up to 2500rpm. Should I beef up the mid section? Or could it be a leaking inlet manifold (throttle not responding at low opening). Or should I doo the opposite and lower the fuel bars? Either way it sounds cool at the moment. Oh and by the way I forgot to mention, the fuel pressure regulator is sitting at 44psi at the moment. too high? It is a boost referrenced adjustable regulator with a lovely pressure guage attached.
  18. I am using a Haltech E6. Currently it is only doing fuel not spark because the ignition output is dead. I've noticed that my graph will be a bit weird at first but that is just me stuffing around seeing what works. I Do have a 02 sensor reading at around 15.5:1 at the moment so I'm going to up the injection time to 0.7ms. I went through the Haltech calculator and it shows an injection time of 2.95ms, but you have to remember that calculator is for sequential injection so I divide that by two to get batch fired times. It comes out as 1.5ms but I have already used that setting and it comes up as too rich. @Teddy: I am well aware of lean and rich mixtures so at this point I am going for a slightly rich idle to keep things on the safe side. Even with an injection time of 0.25ms it still won't go overly lean, it does go down that way but not to any dangerous level. With the throttle setup I am in the unfortunate position of not being able to get a hold of a 4K-EFI manual so I am stabbing in the dark at the moment. Oh and Dave, it's a 1.5L :), cheers by the way because those calculators show that I am very close to where I need to be with my tune. The linearity shows where I need to make my changes too. Taz, my e-mail is [email protected] I don't worry about spam anymore. I get over 400 spam e-mails every week anyway. I would definitely like to see your tune because it is going to be somewhat close to what mine needs to look like, except for the fact that I'll not have to deal with turbo lag. Cheers again!
  19. Hey guys, After much stuffing around and alot of fallen through ECU purchases because most people who advertise shit don't bother responding or putting the correct contact information up, I have finally got the car to fire up and actually hold rpm. Unfortunately It's not holding idle speed. A few things come to mind, throttle gap on the butterfly, air idle bypass screw, injector opening time. So, what gap should I set on the butterfly? Should I set the idle air screw halfway and go from there? another issue that I thought I had down pat was fueling. Apparently not. I have 290cc Injectors from a 7MGE (yellow injectors) and was assunimg an idle opening time of 4ms would have been fine to start with but it seems to run too rich with that and will not start up. So now I have it down to 0.5ms and I can start the car as well as revving it and holding rpm but only around 3000rpm and above at 50% throttle. I would like to know what kind of fuel flow people are using on thier injection setups. Also one thing to note is that my injection system is old so it fires every injector at once, every rpm. I can change that to 2 times every rpm if that might be better for tuning... Also, no I won't use smaller injectors because I will be using these with my supercharger setup once I get a hold of tuning the motor in an N/A setup. For those of you who are a bit more savvy, this is what my fuel maps look like at the moment (just as a start point) Injector Pulse (ms) _____0.5_____0.5_____0.5_____0.5_____0.5_____0.5______1_______3_______6_______8_______10 Throttle position _____0%______10%_____20%_____30%_____40%_____50%_____60%_____70%_____80%_____90%_____100% There are a shitload more load points but this just depicts what my curve looks like. Any info would be great! Yes i have already consulted the great google but every time I want to find some sort of information on fueling needs I get an infinate amount of links to low carb diets.
  20. Ok so what I have done is made a simple Transistor amplifier to the output of the ECU. The ignition signal was only around 1 volt and was not triggering the ignition module. I'm thinking that the amp is casuing the issue but I am unsure. I don't know if the Ignition module fires on the rising or falling edge of the square wave. Fuel pressure is at 42psi. I know that shit if firing up though (smoke comes out of the inlet after a bit of cranking :) )I just need to get my missus to crank the engine while I get on the timing light.
  21. I HAAAVVVEEE SSPPPAAAAAAAAAAAARRRKKKKK!!!! YES! f@$kern finally.... It still won't start though..... I've double checked that the timing isn't 180 out so that part is good. Sounds like the timing is off though so maybe I have to tinker around with the ignition signal. Finally thoug I have progress!!
  22. Well I've been stabbing around with a CRO and it seems as though the output waveform is only 1v p-p. I'm thinking the driver amp is at fault. Will be doing more stabbing, maybe I just need another amp and all will be good.
  23. Welp...... ECU ignition output if fubar..... Checked the output signal with a CRO and a noisy sine wave is coming out. It's meant to be a square wave running 70% on 30% off. Soo...... I'm pretty pissed off.... Will be looking for a new ECU now. Which means re wiring the whole f@$king lot....
