  1. Repairs are coming along nicely! Looks like a tidy job.
  2. Those rims will look good on the car. Personally I see nothing wrong with a loud exhaust on a grandpa spec car (there's a few fords, holdens and valiants going around like that) as long as its not a cannon. You want to turn heads for the right reasons!
  3. What condition is the running gear in, if it was running when you got it, then you've scored a massive bargain for $20! What's your plans for the KE aside from respray and fixing the damage?
  4. I'm not too sure how it works with the carb, but with the EFI car I did it on, I pulled off the intake hose which connected to the Throttlebody, so i could see the butterfly inside it. I had quite a bit of slack in the thorottle cable, so i tightened the cable to the point where I could only a few mm play either direction before the butterfly would begin to open. I'm not sure if a carb would work in a similar way, best to ask someone with a 4a-FC, or get hold of a gregories manual which covers the 88-94 rolla's. If you're looking to stay with the same generation of rolla's, Ultima/RV would be a good choice as you have the 7A-FE motor, which has a decent torque curve and would be a good daily, auto or manual. Or find a SX/GTi with a healthy 'redtop' 4A-GE, they have more than enough poke for a daily driver, and there is modding potential. You can easily find later model aus spec rolla's with a 7A-FE, but if you want anything post 91/92 with a 4A-GE, it'll have to be an import or a conversion. Either motor is a good choice and will be an improvement over the 4A-FC.
  5. 1. Commodore Sedan 2. AE93 SX Seca Both bought within a year and still own both
  6. Where exactly is it leaking from? Pinpoint the leak and that'll save you you time on things you need to hit with gasket goo. I'm not too sure on the cable, but if you follow it from the carb to the firewall, at some point there should be spot where you adjust it. On a car i did it on, it was done by playing with 2 nuts that the cable passed through, on top of the throttle plate. You going to keep bucket as a project car when you get an upgrade? As for a new car, You sticking to toyota's? If so try a newer rolla', they'll have a bit more aftermarket support, plus easier to get them with luxuries such as power windows. Or you could give a MKIV Golf a go, not sure what spec it is, but its very good on fuel.
  7. Nice clean calais. Should be pretty quick once the new diff goes in. Probably be best to find a KE70 that already has a 4Axx conversion done, unless you want to do swap yourself and have no issues with the cost.
  8. Nice panelvan. Looks like it goes really well. Is it still suitable to be used as a daily driver?
  9. Another thing about the switch, it feels very floppy, as if there is nothing behind it, that's why i believe there is no actuator/or anything behind there (I haven't actually opened it up yet to have a look)It lacks the solid switch feel of the rear demister and rear wiper switches, which work fine. Is it the plug that is meant to give it its solid feel?
  10. Those of you who are familiar with the AE92/3 and similar rolla's might know that the upper spec models come with central locking, which can be activated with a switch located to the right of the steering wheel (on RHD models at least) I recently purchased a AE93 SX, the central locking switch is there, however there is no actuator thing behind the switch. Can anyone give me some ideas about looking into how far my central locking system has been comprimsed, and what i'd need to do to get it all working again. PS: Sometimes using the snipper on the drivers door will lock/unlock that door and both rear doors, sometimes it only locks/unlocks the drivers door. The front passenger door can only be locked/unlocked with its own snipper.
  11. Looks overrated, has it been previously restored? Cool thing about these cars is there are heaps of things you can do with them mod wise, or simply leave it bog stock.
  12. Clean 55. The Yellow goes pretty nicely on it for some reason. How's it go with the celica motor in it?
  13. Build's coming along well. Is the 4age going to be a carb setup or the carbs just there for quad throttle bodies?
  14. Very nice KE70! It's very unique and i can see a lot of time has been put into this car :)
  15. A white one will probably be my weapon of choice, my current daily is red and I don't want two red cars. Plus it would make sourcing replacement panels somewhat easier, while E90 rolla's in any spec are dime a dozen. With crusty/brittle interior plastics, are there OEM/Aftermarket replacement items, or is the only option to find non crusty/brittle items at the wreckers/ebay/etc?
  16. CV joints would be identifiable by a clunking sound when steering hard? How would I identify a worn wheel bearing and are they a big/expensive job to replace?
  17. Hey all I'm Chris from the South East Currently hunting down a AE92/93 SX/GTi Heard they're pretty fun cars :)
  18. I've seen a fairly cheap example of a Series 1 Seca. It does have rather high k's (339xxx). Would this car be worth a look to see how it runs and see how its been treated or are the k's too high to remain reliable for say a period of 2-3 years?
  19. I'm looking for a car which is good around the corners, reasonably quick in a straight line, good on fuel and reliable. The AE92/93 SX/GTi with the 4AGE motor seems to be one car that meets all those requirements. I would prefer a hatchback version but i'll gladly take a liftback Seca for the right price. Firstly, how many K's is too many to remain reliable? I'd like to hang on to the car for at least a few years. Lowest ive seen is around 150xxx k's. Most seem to be around the mid 200xxx mark, and i've even spotted a few pushing 300xxx. Secondly, how much would be too much to pay for one that is in good condition? Cheaper ones I've seen are 1.5k, though I've seen a fair few that are close to $4000 with either no rego or almost about to run out. What common issues would I be on the lookout for? Some older cars tend to have rust issues and mechanical issues but I have no idea if rust tends to affect these particular cars. I've heard that the 4AGE is good when looked after but no engine is invincible. Final question for now, would the AE92/93 become cop bait with lowered suspension and aftermarket (tasteful) wheels?
  20. Is that motor a 4A-GE? Nice looking rolla there, there's something about the older rolla's, they look like miniature muscle cars of the 70's. What's the future plans for it?

Great find on the cheap! Sounds like you have good plans for her. How about an improved suspension and chassis setup? Just so it'll handle better. Could make a nice little sleeper.
