  1. just about all threads in these cars are either M6 or M8
  2. isnt ultrablue a silicon? or am i thinking of a different thing? if i'm going to be removing something alot (eg: tappet cover) it gets permatex 3. if it's going to go on and stay on, it gets silicon (manifold gasket) or hylomar (engine gaskets)
  3. non power steer arms are shorter
  4. rotaries can go in anything :P put a 13b into your ae82
  5. lol
  6. you're both arguing different things 1 - an engine is not better because it makes 220kw and one other makes 186kw 2 - an engine is not crap because it doesn't score you toymods points 3 - "1.6L motor" and "1975 corolla" don't really explain fook's car, something like "rwd corolla with coilovers and efi engine conversion" begins to describe how kickass the 35 really is
  7. some of you will know IRA11Y from toymods. before he put his latest 4age in his ae71, he did a bit of budget work on the 4ac for a laugh, took it to a toymods dyno day and ended up making more power at the wheels than some 4age boys had at the flywheel, or something like that
  8. if i could afford the engine and be bothered doing all the other crap (diff, brakes, etc) i'd love a 7afe in my car. the stock one in my work's ae112 totally hauls ass. it's just got BUCKETS of torque its incredible, you can climb the byron bay hill in 5th
  9. exactly my point. who's to say there's not a similar difference between the two SRs? and besides, i can build you a 3K that makes a maximum of 220kw like the SR20, but i sure as hell know which i'd rather drive around with every day
  10. maximum horsepower does not the better motor make (especially if one has vvt and one doesn't) case in point: 3k 73hp, 4k 60hp, which is better?
  11. 3Ss don't hang together very well either, compared to say a 4age, they definately don't have the bulletproof overengineered reputation that other toyota engines have. given that the original poster has to ask these things, perhaps a gze is better suited to your car?
  12. usually corolla diffs are somewhat less dramatic :P i find it amusing that they can put all this huge power into the driveline and the diff gears shit themselves, but the unis hold together no worries. or maybe i just haven't seen a tailshaft go yet
  13. and jamie said, let there be light!
  14. as far as swapability goes, fwd nissans are the shit. in any combination of et, exa, n13 you can put an E15, CA, SR, or one of the GM Family 2 motors from a camira. if i was building a budget blaster stock drive car, i'd seriously consider an N13 with a 2L camira donk in it, that would have SO much torque
  15. putting an SR into an ET/exa is actually pretty easy, and CAs apparently bolt straight up. if i was going to put something else into an AE82, i'd use a 3S but that's just me. like with any fwd transplant, you're probably going to have to make alot of things yourself
  16. i don't think so. and bring your own food if you can, the willowbank offerings are um, stomach churning. lots of sunscreen, earplugs if you're a pussy, and a big warm jacket or three for night time
  17. NOVEMBER? dude i have trouble planning what to do next WEEK!
  18. i think we got to willowbank a tad after 730 last year, so that sort of timeframe and you will be drinking tedmeister, i'm sure ken and nikki will be happy for everyone to crash on the floor if we have a big gathering at their place
  19. we need to decide wether we're going saturday, sunday or both days? i'll probably go saturday, because the show n shine is on then as well as drag racing. then i can come up friday, stay the night, jambo saturday, get pissed sat night and drive hom sunday arvo after i wake up with a hangover. i talked to nikki about it today, i'd actually be keen to head out really really early in the morning, to avoid the cops on the freeway and because the competitors cut sick at the tollbooths bring your video cam, you can film getaway in brisbane :P
  20. i believe the one at lismore was number 2, but i don't really know
  21. yeah its nice hey :P notice how close the tappet covers are to your head. even with the "bonnet" on, that thing's gotta be pretty f@$kin noisy ay
  22. watch the powercruise dvds, plenty of showcar kingswoods with the pipes glowing red on the burnout pad. v8 ke30 YLDTOY does the best burnouts i've ever seen, i have a movie at home, its mad
  23. lismore show n shine was on today. lots of the usual local rubbish, mustangs and old aussie cars and stuff. couple of gems, namely the ke30 group 3j car that's at all the shows, and a nice little fairlady z. pics of my mate owen's ep71 in there. didn't mind the cossie either http://public.fotki.com/superjamie/cars/lismore_show_2004/
  24. nah doesnt want to go to woomera :P
