  6. probably a coupla diffs and a transfer case :jamie: if you want to make a powerful 4x4 corolla, get cosworth gear
  7. i read that has JUST put my supercharger on, and started to breathe heavily i think you need to do it, then get down the goldcoast and start hunting skylines
  8. hahaha  excellent :jamie: dude, even if you had a naturally aspirated 4ag, even a "lowly" 86kw engine, it would have been all over for him. doug has chopped a VY SS in his naturally aspirated 4k ke10, falcodores are is no competition for inducted corollas look for a bigger fish :paw:
  9. they have bdo in auckland, goldcoast, sydney, melbourne, adelaide and perth the lineup isn't that impressive i agree, but it's not shit either. that's kinda like listening to the radio, you get different music inflicted upon you and it opens your mind and introduces you to something a bit outside your normal train of thought all my other bdo's have been like, i paid ~$100 to see one band, the rest were bonus extras. this time i am going for the experience as a whole, cos i haven't been for a few years and am sick of regretting it
  10. i think a family member is an excellent tat, what more would you want as part of your body than someone who is already a part of you? brand names and such are a bit meh. i have thought the same with the old toyota logo. but i mean, i love toyotas now, what if i stop liking them later? i guess you can look back on it as a part of you THEN but not NOW. i guess it depends on how much of your life is dedicated to cars. i know rotor boys who have rotary/mazda tattoos and they are pretty cool there's also the whole commercialism thing. it is just a symbol that represents a brand name. it would be like getting a band tattoo, perhaps temporary and materialistic. kindof like getting the mcdonalds logo as a tat, just on a lesser scale
  11. holy crap, canberra, that's a trek! have updated the original post with all new bands and final lineup, looks like no tool, oh well, mudvayne are going to be there RAWK!!! i have my ticket. i am planning my outfit - red mohawk, black shirt, red belt and nail polish, black pants, cheap red spraypaint job on my boots i want the timetable so i can plan what bands i have to see/miss! i have a headache from listening to so much mudvayne in anticipation :lolcry:
  12. yeah i've seen that before. i like how they DE stroked it and it revs so friggen high :lolcry:
  13. MINITRUCKS *drool drool drool*
  14. they're also getting old, it's no use spending all that cash on an engine just to find it needs a rebuild. sometimes parts are hard to find and/or expensive for old hi-po donks like that too. same reason people use SRs over FJs nowadays
  15. the mechanic i get trade price parts thru, he used to have a ke70 with a 1g-gte. said it was great in a straight line, not as good as it used to be around corners that being said, it's sprung weight so you can GET it to handle, just depends how much you want to spend on suspension development and/or how willing you are to cut your car up and move the engine rearwards of the firewall where it should be :lolcry:
  16. that's what i thought too, and whilst it does affect top end as well, there was a noticeable dip in the midrange on the magazine cars i read about. it was one or two zoom issues ago, interesting read
  17. i don't believe 4.33 BW centers actually exist. change to a jap diff, they're easier to find good centers for, to swap when you break centers and/or want your locker in for weekend antics anyway :lolcry: 4.2 and 4.3 are pretty common jap diff ratios, 4.5s are in ke3x wagons and panos, 4.4 in ke2x wagons and panos, you can even get 4.1 and 3.9 (rare) if you want fuel economy
  18. ct20? that's awesome! i would have assumed it would be a much smaller size, something similar to a gt starlet turbo, only just big enough. what excellent forward thinking toyota had back then i'd agree with your valve spring diagnosis. this is one of the (few) weak areas in the BA xr6 turbo engine, once you start pushing it. same symptom. and my god, you should see the dyno graphs when they put stronger springs in! :lolcry:
  19. don't forget gaskets! genuine toyota gasket kit and vrs kit will set you back a clean 400 bucks on its own, that was what lucky's was, and he gets trade price
  20. oh. that's not cool. hmm, depends on how deep they are really, an engine reconditioner would be able to give you an answer. new oversize pistons for a 4age would probably blow your budget angled valve seats and having the valves modified for flow would be a good idea, next step after that is having the head ported. but if not now, you can always do it later :lolcry: another thing would be to polish the combustion chambers and exhaust ports, but not the inlet ports
  21. those are called hone marks. they are good. if they weren't there, you would say the bores are glazed, and that's bad. any engine that's got new rings will need to be honed, so the new rings bed in. unless your bottom end has done like 400,000km+ you should just be able to get away with original pistons and new rings how much do you want to spend? i'd get the head shaved for a bit more compression if you're going n/a, get 3 or 5 angle valve seats, tulip cut valves, have the inlet and exhaust ports and bowls tidied up, head port matched to the manifold. if you're planning big boost, you can have the rods and crank treated for toughness with a surface process like linishing or a heat process like cryotuffing. lighten the flywheel. knife edge the crank if you like (not ideal for a street engine i reckon). new cams with big lift would be nice, then you'll need a threaded shim kit to keep the buckets on the valves which all costs money (and alot of it) all depends on how much power you want to make, and how much money you have to spend. if not now, it's not like you can't pull the engine apart and do stuff again later. i would sugest starting out small, and keeping the supercharger off most of the time. it's your first car, and you're on your Ls. you wouldn't even be allowed to register this thing in your name in nsw with the blower on it anything that moves. rotationally - crank, flywheel, pulley. weight-wise - pistons, rods a spot in an advanced driver training course :lolcry: i could do with the same, perhaps we can get a rollaclub day going :(
  22. have a read of these topics http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=3161 http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=1871 i found them by typing "simga control arm" into the search function here :lolcry:
  23. how did someone get them in the first place? you probably posted them on a forum. welcome to the internet. i see my photos around from time to time, i like it :lolcry:
  24. how close did that idiot come to losing his goddamn hand!
  25. i once spoke to the owners of a ke30 showcar with a 3tgte in it it was stock with some boost wound into it, he reckoned he was getting 250hp at the wheels, but i think it was more like 150hp at the wheels, and he just got his numbers mixed up, he was an old dude :lolcry: the stock turbo wouldn't be too big i don't think, i'd be surprised if you could get more than 12psi out of the thing
