Ah yeah forgot about the ke2x bit. Madrolla managed to make some extractors into a mani pretty easy and that fits in his ke10 pretty well. I'll find you a pic or too. Interesting sump btw! pull it off and put a oil return fitting in it befor you put it in the car, but I probably don't need to tell you that. If it leaks at all the "kneed it" is your friend. :'(

smoking or steaming!? Is it white and dissapears quite quickly!? You might have blown a head gasket, getting it too hot when the hose blew. Check oil, water and 710 cap for "mayonaise syndrome" jizz under the cap. :'( Don't stress too much if it is though, I fix blow HG's on my cars for under $100 :lol:

I've already told you this once in this thread. a 3k, 3k BP, or 4k head on a 5k will drop CR. FFS do a search on dished piston vs flat tops. :S The mix of 3/4/5k parts is to convert to solid lifters, do some searching on that too! :y:

Are you gunna make a proper manifold for it, or just do the j pipe thing? J pipe still works well if its made well!! :y: You'll have slightly more room than I did due to the inlet mani design. You could also make a manifold to put the turbo were my TDO4 used to be, and you've still got enough room to get the exhaust out. :S

I wrote a HOW TO on fuel systems in the generally mechanical section last month. It has been stickey'd below the KExx, AExx etc sections. :y: Just buy a whole 1g if you have to. whip the turbo off it and sell the pistons and rods to somebody rebuilding a 4k. Yes they fit, do a search on it. :S

Spode - I'm going to be nicer here than I should be, and save you a little bit of work in what you've written! :S This thread is not for personal advertising of parts, thats what. It is for parts found elsewere that other rollerclubber may not know about and be intersested. For example, if you found a KE in a wrecking yard with decent parts in it still, chuck that up here. Or, link to your for sale thread here, as tas corolla has done above. Ok, here's the deal for you. Go start a for sale thread in the right section, with a location. Cut a paste what you written here into the for sale thread. Edit your thread above, so that it has a link to you new FS thread. And remove what you have written here. I'll give you till tomorrow morning to fix this, otherwise I'll just delete the whole post. I'll even send you a PM now so that you get email notification to do so. 4k (or 3k) head on 5k bottom end = low compression, ie suitable for forged induction only!! :y: Under my bonnet.....hehe

S'all good mate, if I didn't want this discussion in my thread, I would have told ya's to piss off and start another general mechanical discussion on BOVs. :y: However Lets just clarify one other thing.... Matt rebuilds turbos, he doesn't sell BOV's. People who don't run BOV's will need a rebuild quicker, then he makes his money. He's telling us to run BOV's so he doesn't see blow turbos earlier. Get my point!? :S

He made 280oddrwkw on lower boost at 500rpm when the coils started breaking down. :y: It made 365rwkw last week, he was gunna swap exhausts as the 3" was too restrictive to push over 400, but then the dyno at powercruise got cancelled so he didn't bother.

Dunno if Les's STI's are running anti-lag. This was the conversation I had with his rally mechanic: Me - "so you only use them for one round?" Him - "yeah normally just one round, we pull them off when they start to get a bit noisey" Me - "what do you mean by 'noise'?" Him - "when you can turn off the car, and you can hear the turbo winding down"!!!! And remeber these are BB turbo. So basically they use them for one round (at which they're basically run in!) and them chuck them under the bench. I asked about buying one as they're the same flange as the TDO4 I had, and he wanted $750 each. Now do you think they'd sell a stuffed turbo for that much with the money Les has!!!? How does air revert though compressor venes that are spinning, to pump air in the opposite direction!? :y: Lastly I'll leave you with this very cool vid. Yes it does make bullshit power and it'd be on a fair bit of boost, but I'm only using it as its one of the best vids I've seen of a BOV in action. And all of those mentioned cars would have had a brand new turbo (and probably motor) put on after every round/race!! :y: Even with the more advanced turbos we have today, group N rally cars still get a new (BB) turbo every round!!! You should see the pile of "second hand" STI turbos at Les Walkdens rally workshop!!!! :P Reversion is not cool. It may sound cool, but thats the sound of your turbo temporaraly spinning backwards and forwards within milliseconds! And why do rotaries rev harder than pistons.....because the don't change direction! :S

Only restrictions are financial!!! :S You know I've got the motivation and know how to finish both....maybe I need some sort of corolla sponsor!!! :y: Hopefully it won't be too rusty by the time it turns 4 wheels. :sob: Maybe ATW.....there's an idea, I could put some Tercel "4wd corolla" badges on it! Jip - If you were a litlle closer to me I would swap you seats with a cash adjustment!! There's a high possibilty these will get very dirty and a rip or 2. I don't particularly want to stuff really good seats, but I will be putting 'not so gay' seat covers back on to protect them. :P

What boost are you running!? :S 25+psi If they're not necessary, why are they put on 99% of factory turbo cars!!! I agree they are used and abused by ricers, just for the sound, but they do have a functional purpose. What ever is put on my car will be a plumb back, so it won't attract attention (no more than a turbo ke55 :P) and won't have a big gay sound! :y:

Ok, heres some DAY ONE update pics!! :S Spent the night paying the interior some attention. Removed the disgusting seat covers.....to find that the car has nearly immaculate stock seats!!!! :y: Only 1 little ciggy burn in the drivers seat...... Cleaned out the boot. Absolutely no rust in the floor, only along the bottom of the tail gate. Fixed up the mat, and just gave it a general tidy..... As the missus is going to drive it for a little while once its registered, I put her JVC stez in :P Just used some carpeted rings to cover the 6" holes, as her speakers are 5.25"..... Also put in another dash cluster as the speedo needle wavered, but it still is, so I think its just a knackered cable. Also took some pics of the modified sump just for you Cam! :sob:

Depends how much boost you wanna pump into her!! :sob: Yeah 7ktte :P Solids are not essential. No, just the twins, they're torquey little things, would "spool up" nearly as quick as the blower anyway. I'd seriously consider leaving the stock cam, if not something very mild. K's are indestructable,....don't be a sook!! :y: I'd say 200hp wouldn't be to unreasonable on a mild tune!! There's not too much around in the way of worked 7k for a reference.......be the first!! :S

Thats because Matt knows what sort of boost I'm planning on running. :sob: Injectors were beautiful thanks mate! :y: Took me a couple of minutes to work out I had 2 sets of the bigger o-rings! :P Oh, and I picked up your sandwhich plate yesterday, so I'll chuck that in the post today. :S I'll have a look on egay for a temporary BOV cheap.

:S noisey wheel bearings...and I thought the old NA car was bad! :y: 7k goes really well, 1st and second its just like a 4k, but hit 3rd and pulls just like second. haven't got to 4th or 5th yet! Did some work on her last night, will update with some pics a bit later. Machg - K's in sierras are nearly a bolt in affair. Plan is a little different to that, lets just say the corolla diffs and steering rack etc won't be used!! :P

I've got a 4x4 magazine at home that has this conversion done using a ke30. I'll take a couple of pics of the mag and whack them up on here. |blink|
