  1. How high does the turbo sit? If high enough you could make a blank off plate for the fuel pump and tap a return fitting into that! Don't want it up hill though.
  2. 5k bottom end?
  3. Just pulled this head off, bottom end is proper f'd but head is still ok. Had one semi stuck valve but free now. How does your current heads inlet Ports compare to an em30? And do you know your current c/r?
  4. Ah ok, so the manifold will need rounding out as well as the head to be ported. If I get a chance in the next week or so (working all weekend on festivale) I might pull the head off and inspect it for you. Have you collected any solid lifter conversion parts yet? And I put any thought into lump sticks while you're at it? If you're going to festivale pop over to the kpmg stage for a chat ;)
  5. Might have to have a chat with you about doing some rust repair on the Rx4 if you're keen krem? Very nice work.
  6. Do you just want me to match port and polish it for you? I'd have to charge you something though as its a few hours work. I could take it down to Hobart and use dads big snap on compressor rather than my little one which would make life a lot easier. Is the manifold rounded out to 3kbp or still oval?
  7. In a perfect world I would use a Carter green, but it doesn't have to be anything special. I currently just have a cheap little pro fuel iirc pump. You driving again now? I'm in launy from tomorrow till probably next Friday if you want to come grab your bits?
  8. A good old vl pump will do....and be cheap! Then just a low pressure lift pump. But do yourself a favour and don't get a facet.
  9. I just got one of the sandwich plates that goes under the oil filler from Bursons. Cooler I got off Ebay. Couple of speedflow fitting and some braided hose. I have a speco oil temp guage which was only about $30, just need to put the sensor in the sump.
  10. Its called a 'hot box' gasket and can be bought at most parts shop. Wouldn't also be a bad idea to buy some new high tensile bolts when putting it back together.
  11. Are you sure you're tappet cover is adequately venting? Do you have some sort of catch can on it? If you're looking at an oil cooler maybe wouldn't hurt to put an oil temp guage on it first to see what sort of temps you're actually getting to! I just finally got mine hooked up a couple of weeks ago. Haven't given it a good 'hills run' yet but haven't seen over 80° yet which is the normal water temp. I put a couple of pics up in my thread as the last update. Also just a thought...maybe as well as starting you're own thread for the truck you could also register a new username for yourself! At least then you wouldn't need to sign off every post as (Thomas's dad). ;)
  12. Put it in your lawn mower lol. Fyi there is a drain in the bottom of 55 fuel tanks. Look for the inch or so rubber grommet just off centre to the passenger side under the car. ;)
  13. If you're getting incorrect rpm out of the msd you sure its not set to 8 cylinder?
  14. Well if fuel is dribbling out then you would also have a vacuum leak!! Sounds like it could be a little rich as well. .....beaten to the punch!
  15. Did an oil change last week so took the opportunity to finally get some -8 braided hose (already had all the fitting) and hook up my oil cooler..... Haven't driven it super hard yet but 80* is the highest oil temp I've seen so far.... same as the normal water temp.
  16. Only thing I can think of is he's thinking that an open gate will cause the turbo to not spin and suck mixture through the inlet..... but at start load/RPM it aint going to do squat anyway. The motor itself should create enough vacuum to such the mixture in.
  17. We have a 1/4 track here, but the run off area is currently in such a state of disrepair that ANDRA won't let them run the whole quarter now. So racing is restricted to 1/8 until it is resealed.
  18. Umm...what are you on about? The waste gate is on the exhaust side of the turbo.... so the fuel has to go through the motor before it goes anywhere near the gate. Does it fire at all?
  19. Won't be seeing any 1/4 trap speeds any time Stu....maybe 1/8 if you're lucky.... That is unless Leigh decided to race in Melbourne!
  20. In draw through pressure isn't really that important, its all about adequate flow. Don't think I'd use a standard mechanical pump. A Carter green or Holley red should be more than enough. Both make about 6 psi and around 60gph. Weather you need a reg or not depends on what carb you use. I would say a t2 would be too small on a 5k. A t25g is nice and responsive but runs out of chuff pretty quick in the top end. Really depends on where in the rev range you want your power curve. Also make sure all of the inlet tract from the carb is slightly down hill. You don't want fuel pooling anywhere.
  21. Won one of these on gt6 last night, they go pretty well!
  22. I've probably got some handles in the shed somewhere. Do you need the strap type ones or the arm rest style? Probably have front and rear. Passenger side mirrors are also really rare, they only came on top spec cars with a/c etc. hate to say it but you might be better off with fender mirrors...or maybe just aftermarket.
  23. You must buy that shit! Would be a very appropriate way to come collect your parts!
  24. A corona w50 or w40 will if you use a km20 liteace bell housing, flywheel and clutch. That's the sort answer....search and you shall find a how to! ;)
  25. Ah brings back memories lol. Yeah just make sure you clean it thoroughly before and after. Its amazing how easily oil will catch fire with the heat from a welder. In my case it was a mates 55 so it was all good lol.
