  3. So.... Really time for an update.... I didn't really let on what I was up to back in december, some know. I removed the 5k for a rebuild.... Still ran great I just had an oil leak I couldn't fix. Turned to be a hairline crack in the timing cover. Also found 3 broken top rings. Any way, I decided to drop my 7k in as an interum motor while I did the 5k..... That didn't last long! :rolls: I went out on the highway to check wheel balance issue and ended up giving the 7k a gut full on about 15psi..... And blew the head gasket. Grrrr. Was my own fault, tune was in no way suited for the 7k. We were very suprised that the stock cammed 7k needed around 35% extra fuel on the cammed 5k map just to start!! I did also knock some timing out of the tune, probably not enough though. So.... As I've let on a little lately, all parts are now sourced and I finished building last night. Removed 7k this morning and will hopefully drop 5k in tonight! Not rushing things. Need some oil and a filter so I'll grab them in the morning and hopefully turn the key. So can't wait! Have been driving "Dirt" for over 12 months minus 1 week of 7k action in dec. Oh and while I've had time I've re polished a few bits and polished some new bits to. Spec list for new motor to come.
  4. Make it around 7ish, should be in the shed dropping 5k in by then. At work at the mo.
  5. Dan you can still buy brand new REPRODUCTION guards for 30/55. They're rubber pressed not steel pressed like original ones though so can have some small ripples. They also don't have any holes drilled in them so that needs to be done top suit vehicle (ie 55 with wrap around bumpers). But yes some hoarders have straight, rust free goodies stashed away for rainy days. I've still got those brown XX ones.
  6. 0.5mm is 40 thou.... Which should be heaps. You've got ring marks in the bores? Maybe you should just call me!.... As I also have another 5k bottom end I could sell, but unsure of condition.
  7. I have both a set of lifters and a12 pushies available for sale. Don't know about solid lifters on the hydro cam though! ....but I have a cam available too! Lol Btw I assembled a 5k with 4k head, a12's and chevs last night!
  8. I just picked up my new oversize bottom end last week, now assembled. 0.5mm, endurotech d dished slugs and some honda chrome moly rings. Was about $375 all up. Was messaging stu last night, now has 7:1 c/r.
  9. Ok well cam could come with free double row gears as I just installed my roll master.
  10. ummm, dished piston yes..... Hydro..... don't think so. Thats why people want the pushrods out of them for solid conversions!? :hmm:
  11. I'm about to offload the cam out of my turbo car as I just got another ground with 114 l/c. Txt me if youre interested!
  12. Recently made redundant, looking for full time work and doing some casual stuff here and there. Discussing weather we should leave the dismall state!
  13. Sprung!..... Rebuilding 5k this week. Leon (user bruce) and I went to primary school together on flinders. What are you doing over there? Fishing or something?
  14. Sheldon aka blown5k in nz got a reproduction run of 50 or so of those manifolds a few years ago. Not sure if he would have any left now. Could probably find an email address if youre interested?
  15. Finally! Yay ;)
  16. Hey buddy, while you have the head off any chance you could take a few pics of the ports? Looks like yours has heaps taken out of the short turns on the inlets at least! I've been doing some porting lately. Cleaned up the ex ports and polished them last week Stu! Lol
  17. Tell me about it..... been doing it for near on 12 months now, Hopefully only a couple of weeks until I'm boosted again.
  18. Another old trick for changing springs with the head on is filling the cylinder with rope.
  19. The pajero one I'm talking about had to come around the back of a top mount cooler, so they're pretty long. I had enough to come around the back of the motor, in under the fuel rail and loop around to the tb. It even bolted straight up to the 55 firewall, dare say 70 would be the same!
  20. Cable for the 7ke t/b? Mine came from a v6 pajero from memory.
  21. Yep and still had an integrated bell housing so wont fit a k
  22. Not such a big deal in a rotor mate. As long as its not heaps!
  23. Um... Remove the rocker cover to adjust the lifters!
  24. Hey mate, Reverse switch is normally on the driver side of the extension housing. Its a 21mm nut/sensor looking thing with 2x bullet terminals sticking out of it. Polarity doesn't matter when wiring it up. Depending what box you have the could be 1 or 2 other 21mm nut/sensors screwed into the top of the box, but they both only have 1x wire/terminal each so identifying the reverse switch (the one with 2x terminals) is easy. Trust me mate, if your zuk orginally had a 1lt in it, then a 4k (and maybe more so the 5sp) is a serious upgrade!! ;)
