  1. Well i guess he scored Beer goggles rulez, man :y:
  2. Nice find Or should i say good score dude
  3. It happens cause there's no coolant at the throttle body.
  4. You'll be better off looking on toymods cause there was a thread or two on the subject a good while back. True. I got the motor from a mate, and we both thought it was a "between" version. It was a version that used the bottom end from a small port block, big port head and redtop cam covers. But i finally got around to pulling the sump off and its just another big port motor. So i'm guessing the cam covers had been swapped over before me mate bought it
  5. As far as i know, nothings different. Their both the same motor. Possibly the only difference would be the ECU since japan has higher octane fuel. True with the cam covers. But do remember, only take that as an idea to what the motor could be. Cause, like, one that i've got under the house has redtop cam covers but its really a bigport motor.
  6. Yes and no cause the cam covers fit either motor. So does the heads.......... Australian Domestic Market - A car (or something) thats sold in australia. The SX corolla is the twincam (4age) version of the ae92 corolla. Japanese Domestic Market - A car (or something) thats sold in japan.
  7. Nar not really. Don't mind the 80's model civic and prelude.
  8. "In this, he attempted to guide a modified shopping trolley" Honda ???

    4age

Mmm, yes their not too shabby and they handle pretty well also
  11. Shara The day that i got her. Her previous owner mistreated her, so she was very timid, untrusting, etc etc. If i ever go to met the guy i'd shake his hand, give him a hug and then smack one him in the face. She "owned" the bed Not the same dog any more Rest In Peace Shara
  12. Mmm diesel..... i'm starting to have a preference for the stuff. Maybe a hilux but not a surf because they run hotter then a 'lux because the surf wasn't built for aussie conditions Hilux, 4runner (and surf), tarago, cressida, hiace...... have the same motor. And the only one that runs hot is the surf.
  13. Hmm, i see sales brochures, magazines and i'm pretty sure theres some owner/glovebox manuals in there. I've given up on the idea of using a box. Bit of a shame can't include ford, holden, mazda, mitsubishi and subaru.
  14. The 2.4 and 2.8 diesels are very reliable as long as their not in a surf. From what i've heard is that for some reason the heads crack in the surfs but not any other vehicle (eg. hilux).
  15. It'll work out cheaper running down to the local wrecker and picking one up from there then getting the glass trimmed to size. Not to mention that the glass in the 'rona might be bolted to the window mechanism differently to that in the 'rolla. Like i've said many a times - Take a sniff-and-taste test. Measure the glass, see if the measurements fit, pull it out and see if it lines up with everything. And if it does, sweet
  16. Hi ya Debbie. Sorry to say it but you'll have to get use to it. It's also the same when you tow a trailer. Whats the belts like ? And the water pump ? You could try with getting a radiator shop to flush the system. Your best bet would most likely be a bigger radiator. Urm, with the fuel try cleaning the injectors, new fuel filter and maybe even get the pump serviced. You might have better on http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/ but at the moment its saying that the site exceeded its bandwidth. Or http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/index.php Something to note is that outerlimits have changed servers so any of the links you'll have to take out the " /PHP_Modules " bit first till things get sorted out
  17. And don't forget to use coolant next time cause using straight water will corrode the head. Btw for a home done head job http://www.materials.unsw.edu.au/~sford/ and for the different heads this will give you some idea Head Difference??, How to tell a 3k or 4K head?
  18. Yeah true but Street Machine ripped the idea off from others. That is if your talking about "VU for U". Not original but not seen every day. Apart from all that, the top one still looks good. Seams to follow the body line a little better.
  19. One thing that i've learnt is that when you use connectors have the female plug on the positive side of the join and the male connector on the negative side. And then make sure that the join is covered. If none of the fuses are blown, i'd be checking the wire that has the constant 12v, starting from the stereo connection with a light or something and trace back till you get power. And you'll find the section of wire (or possibly connection) thats blown/melted. Are you getting power at the accessories position on key ?
  20. Going off topic. I don't bother hooking the camera to the computer, just use a card reader. I've found it easier and not to mention that the times that i've had to hook the camera to the computer the damn things wiped all the pics on me. Back on topic. How about aftermarket with the front bar and/or/maybe mix & match with the parts.
  21. Ah that brings back fond memories of a weird double post that i made.
  22. Vacuum gauge is usefull - you'll just have to have hunt around on the net for the means the needle gives. A compression tester would give a fair indication if its valves, rings, carbon build-up or maybe the gasket. If the compression is down on one cylinder, squirt a little oil down the sparkplug hole and if the compression jumps back up it's a fair chance its the rings. Or the best or ideal thing to do is take it to a mechanic and get them to do a leak-down test. That'll show you what it is and where it is.
  23. Have a google for things like "air ram", "ram air". From memory old chev's, ponitac's, etc used them to some success on the race track.
  24. Short answer - no. The closest diesel to the a-series would be the c-series.
