  1. Or if your feeling a little perky you could bore it out 84.5mm (think thats right, its the same size slugs as the 18R) into the coolent passages and drop in sleeves. Something like over 2litres. Plus use the 4y crank = 2250cc Plus side is asking people to figure out the capacity of the motor. Negative side is that the motor, depending on treatment, will be short lived. Short rods on a long stroke crank isn't all that good.
  2. For a brake upgrade there's this from Toymod's AE82, AE92 and AE101 Brake upgrade guide But i think the easier way around it is to use the rotors from the AE93 twincam (258mm x 22mm) and then find the calipers from the AE102 or AE112 corolla. Its mainly with the hub - from the AE101 and up the hub diameter is 55mm while the hub diameter is 54mm on the AE8x and AE9x series. Something that i've been wanting to have a look at is if the calipers fro the SV20/21 camry fit. Main reason being is that everybody drives a AE102 but nobody wants to wreck 'em, where as i'm just about climbing over SV2x camrys in the wrecking yards. The AE82 twinky strut brace does fit the single cam. Have a search on the forum. Or if your handy with a welder you could always make one. Once upon a time i bought a strut brace off ebay (think it was for lancer) and modified its mounts to fit. Like wise with the rear brace, but i just used square tube for that. Do a search though me posts for it... The money that you spend on moding the 4a-c motor to fit the 4a-f head would be almost the same amount you spend on buying a 4a-ge motor. Unless your lucky with the score.... which i wasn't. Cost me almost $700 for a 4a-f motor (4a-ge motor is around the $500 mark). I had my reasons/needs for it.... You'll find it cheaper swapping in the 4a-f motor then either a 4a-fe, 7a-fe or 4a-ge motor cause of them being EFI but the gains to be had with the EFI motors, i think, out weigh the cost. The 4a-c head has the intake and exhaust manifolds on the same side of the head while the "f" and "g" heads are of a x-flow design. AE92 front bumper fits with a few mods. For a quicker gear shift, same goes for the gear lever from the AE10x series corolla. Not sure about the rear suspension from the AE10x series if it'll fit or not. The best idea would to hit a few wreckers wih camera, tape measure etc. Same can be said with the front suspension as well. But the AE82 twinky will fit, you'll just have a little fun with the sway bar cause the single cam does't have one, nor does it have the mounts for it (not sure with the CS-X but). If you intend on fitting rear discs you need the twinky hubs. Now for a question - what the heck is a "4a-lc" motor ?????
  3. Or you could just re-work the cams and cam timing for better bottomend. Re-do the induction side be adding something like a butterfly system to switch between short (high rpm)intake runners and long (low rpm)intake runners. The 20v uses something like the Honda VTEC system, right? Then how about using the switch over point on the intake cam to also switch the charger on and off.
  4. About the only problem is that the centre hole is bigger on the slugma rims. Which means the rims would be riding on the wheel bolts(nuts - which ever) techanically illegal, but most times gets over looked anyways
  5. Oops, my bad :lolcry:
  6. Wouldn't be all that hard to do. Just need the "g" head, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, head bolts, cam belt and the cog for the belt. Had to do the same thing one time but with a 4a-f motor (i should say forced cause i needed the car back on the road asap and the only motor i could get my hands on was a 4a-f). After all that it would be a shut load easier (and not wasting your time) to swap in the 4a-ge motor......
  7. A high carbon buildup can give false readings And for a little help with the spelling side give Firefox 2 a try. It comes with a dictionary
  8. Oh yeah and welcome to the 'board, stay between the lines and enjoy your stay.
  9. Yes and no that the 4y crank fits. From memory the rear bearing seal has to be modified on the crank. The 4y crank will only fit the later model 2t-g due to the wider skirting around the crank (the early ones can be moded but its a hassle). If your thinking of doing it remember a couple of things. To get the 2150cc, the bores have to be machined past the water jackets and wet liners fitted. Piston speed will be pretty high because of having to use shorter conrods which also leads to poor conrod-to-crank fitment. If its something to shove your finger up at the plod, yeah sure go for it. But for all practical reasons sticking with the 2t/3t hybrid would be better.
  10. Corona - noun - Latin 1. a coloured circle of light seen round the sun or moon, caused by the diffraction of light by water drops in the earth's atmosphere. 2. the outer part of the sun's atmosphere, seen as a shining circle around the sun during an eclipse. 3. a crownlike part on the inner side of a corolla, as in the narcissus. 4. a discharge often visible at the surface of a conductor. corolla - noun - Latin the petals of a flower collectively. And there you have it - within every corolla is a corona Maybe Toyoda should patented the vase and flower on the dash instead of VW and its 'new' beetle.
  11. If the wirings different on the tail lights i can't see it being all that hard to grab a circuit tester to check and note what each wire is for. If you do something like this while the standard lights are in place it'll make it easier.
  12. Ditto :y: Not all dogs are like that and not all owners teach their dogs to do things like that either. Like the saying goes - Once bitten, twice shy. And the boy is going to be frightened of dogs now.
  13. For me its just the normal crap. Kangaroos, rabbits, toads, snakes, quails, magpies, pheasants, ducks, water fowl, goats and i've side wiped cows and horses. But the one that takes the cake for me was a huge wild pig. It was about as long as what the ae82 is wide. Didn't hit it but as i swerved it charged and almost took out the rear bumper.
  14. Bhahaha Well, at least I got a visit from one of Santa's little helpers with something
  15. lol And to think, i've always said that i wouldn't like to have a kid thats so close to Christmas. Oh well all i can say is He's my boy :)
  16. Many thanks for the congrats. His my first, but mums second. He's the little brother to a three year girl.
  17. Kinda did last night :P Finely got home around 10:30 or so tucking into something to eat and the power got cut
  18. Yesterday at 1:10pm. 7 pound 10 in the old scale, 3.46kg in the new. 50cm from the top of his head to tips of his toes. Jacob Rex With the keep moving wiggles of a Rolla And the pops, farts, sneezes and the grunty crying sound of a diesel
  19. Was talking to a mate about this last week. The later model diffs are stronger. External bracing from the pumpkin to the tubes and the shafts are a couple of mill thicker. Don't remember what was said about mix and matching parts. But i can't see problems of popping into a 4wd shop and ordering parts (ARB airlocker :P ), just have the diff model code in hand in case. If you want to a little more researching try Outer Limits 4x4 and Toyota Surf Australia and for diff codes Jonnys Old Corolla Page
  20. And the bitching thats going with it at the moment.
  21. For my 5 cents, i want a turbo diesel. Sick and tired of petrol/lpg engine crap
  22. How the hell did that thing pass through the EPA ??
  23. I'm laying dibs that its an awd And like what too quick said - search But, yeah, if it is the awd from memory the gearbox is a little weaker then the fwd 'box Helpful info You could always take a different route and slide in a 7a-fe motor
