  1. When your talking to the guy again ask him if he's using ones made for a lifted serria and by how much
  2. Sounds like Rancho's
  3. Some of the comments are, yes, well, urm, i'd think half of them must use braille to see their screen. God damn the body has a bloody mustache not showing off a hairy clam
  4. You know, i was guess thinking of this one today at work. Maybe grab the speedo drive from an auto and, hopefully it, fits into the hole for the manual.
  5. I'd say depending on which model Hilux, i'd say around the same year as your 'rona would be about right. But you'd also have to modify the mounts on the diff - leaf spring to a 5-link coil Joining up to http://www.toymods.net/forums/ might give you a bit more help
  6. I made mine. I'd be careful with the pitting - can possibly cause hot spots which can lead to pinging/knock/etc etc. While you've got the head off give the intake/exhaust ports a clean up as well - wouldn't go any higher grit then, say, 320 (400 at the most). Need a bit of roughage to keep the air/fuel mixed.
  7. After about 2minutes i just to kill it. Don't mind a low car but....
  8. Col - It'll still get posted up on youtube. Yep cause the car never came out with it and i'm modifying the seating capacity. Its the same as if i wanted to fit a lap sash - cause the car never had it. Maybe you should stop shaving.... I thought "going commando" was reserved for the chickie babes in the short micro skirts  Mate, i think i watched way too much porn during the downtime....
  9. KE30 + child restraint = mod plate = somewhere between $105 up to $165 "Here's the stuff you'll need. Here's where it could be approximately mounted. Off you go, get it in, come back and show me." Now i've just found out from someone else that i was meant to get some paper work showing how it goes in etc etc
  10. Nice, where'd you get the stickers from ?
  11. I'm pretty sure there's been someone on here thats got seats from an early Prelude in their '35 or '55
  12. Its what i've been thinking of myself instead of trying to fab something up, lot easier maybe not as pretty but it'd be a lot easier
  13. One for the 4 wheelers out there 4:20 and on, have to watch - the guy does it unassisted
  14. I wouldn't even bother with experimenting . Not worth the money in trying it. I can't even see the point of cross-drilling a non-vented disc - time and money for very little if any gain. From what i know about cross-drill rotors is to open up the area between the disc and the pad so that the pads can be cleaned every time their pressed to the rotor, remove the brake dust and to stop the build up of gas which get vented into the centre of the rotor. About the only thing that'd be happening is the cleaning of the pads. A better shot would be slotted rotors - does about the same job as drilled, can be used on non-vented rotors and less prone to cracking.
  15. Well that sucks Another way to figure out the diff ratio - apart from pulling it apart and counting teeth and dividing them is to place chocks at the front wheels so the car doesn't roll, jack a back corner up, have the transmission in neutral, stick a length of string to the prop shaft, spin the lifted wheel one complete revolution and count the number of times the string went past the spot where it was stuck to the shaft. Its rough but it works. The bottom one is Plant/GVW - where the car was built / Gross Vehicle Weight
  16. yeah good question. Always thought that being set on the 8 cylinder the tacho would be reading 8 pulses from the coil whereas on the 4 cylinder setting its reading only the 4 pulses. Thats it the build plate. It'll tell you what the motor that should be in the car, frame number, colour/trim, trans/axle <- and this what you'll be after (axle code last three digits and possibly a letter (more then likely the letter "U") before the three numbers).
  17. Since you've done the research on the ca18 i guess you would have realised its not just a simple drop in but a good amount of custom work and not just to the engine x-member. And if your wanting to make it all legal and mod plated you would have learnt about a few upgrades as well and i know in Queensland here you'd also have to be on your opens. The other side to that is - Why have a car that looks as if it can do 200ks, but instead its sitting on the side of the road after traveling 200ks broken down because of poor maintenance... I'll still stand by with what i said in that its a great first car.... learn from it I'll agree with you there - speed limit and looking tasty
  18. Sorry to hear that mate. Funerals never are easy to do. But it does get easier over time, the passing of a loved one
  19. How about at idle ? Whats it sitting at ? I'm pretty sure i had a link for something else but http://www.locost7.info/gearcalc.php Its download program about 516k You just plug in your >tire diameter >gearbox ratios - http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Manual_Gearbox >Final (diff) ratio - find the code on the build plate in the engine bay and look here http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?tit...ferential_Gears for the ratio. Unless the diff has been screwed with.... and it'll spit back what the road speed is for each gear Either that or find one (tacho) that's tested. EDit - just a little house work
  20. I now want to bitchslap you as well 2 minutes of my life now gone never to be replaced Argh  :)
  21. Took me a while to find it. Well i was right and wrong Fiat/Lancia tuning arm Abarth. They called it "modular turbocharging" and it was used in Group S rally 600hp +- a few legs from 1.8litres
  22. Oh yes and the only real thing that grates my nerves is Direct Freight. Ring up and its like playing roulette - will you be hung up on or will you get to go through section by section of the company, once i got diverted to payrolls ?? Last time i rung up i got diverted to the toowoomba branch which got me diverted back to the same bloody guy i was talking to before hand and made the booking through him, who only clicked to that it was me again after the booking was made....
  23. Maybe i should have said about work and with my boss coming up to me and telling me that i should learn how to write nice and neatly, that when i sign paper work and those electronic gizmo's i should print my full name and not just "scribble" "RB****" What i don't understand is how the other guys can get away with doctor's scribble etc. My number three's look like the letter M My letter B looks like a number 3 My letter D looks like a number 8 When i write down the weight of something, eg 18kg, it looks like 181kg even with a space between the numbers and the kg When i write down the address for sending freight to places like Paget I have to remember to also write Mackay because Paget is a suburb of Mackay just like Harristown is a suburb of Toowoomba Garbutt is a suburb of Townsville even knowing they have different postcodes. About the only thing that i can be arsed about changing is towns and suburbs. My writing is fairly neat, only really had one other person comment that my 3 looks like a backwards E and so i can't be phucked ;)
  24. The old '55 that i once had didn't have as much of the emissions stuff as that picture and i'm now using the carby from that thing on my '30. For the x-member mod, basically its welding the auto member to the manual member - have a search "ke55 manual conversion" or something along those lines. And if you wind up doing the conversion track down the 'box from a ke70 - that way the gear lever will stick up through the hole left from the auto shifter. But you'll have to make up some spacers or something to space the x-member down a bit from the car cause the '70's x-member is a little different to the '55 style and you (at least from what i've heard) can't swap x-members around. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?s...st&p=358122 My opinion of your first car - don't let your big plans get the better of you. Like, if it was me, i'd sooner spend the 700 bucks on a mig instead of a 700 dollar paint job that you can DIY yourself. You've nabbed yourself a pretty good car with learning the ins and outs of how it works, don't be afraid to get your hands dirty, remember google is your heartless friend. Ripped seats are nothing for seat covers to be placed over. Oh and before i forget the auto is a Holden trimatic
