  4. If in doubt, use more gasket goo!!!!!
  5. some wreckers will do buckets of bolts/nuts for 5 or 10 bucks
  6. more pics yet? have a similar job ahead of me.....

  9. take the thermostat out and check again for bubbles. also check your waterpump for play.
  10. anything that fits is usually rough enough
  11. Just adjust the idle screw on the carb.
  12. try a few sockets on and find out!
  13. Standard toyota 4k engine. Much cheaper to fix when you inevitably break something
  14. Use the cheapest oil you can get.a 4k will run with pretty much any oil
  15. Daily driver while the ke35 is still in nz and the ke30/55 is in need of panel & paint. Mazda Bongo/Ford Econovan Slammed on 17s with a bit of dish Painted custom green metallic with gold pearl similar to holden "poison ivy" Missus drives it every day.... Good for picking up stuff!!!! Turned out alright for a $600 van!
  16. If its lpg maybe try priming it twice(like glowing a diesel) or if the regulator is manual prime then it makes things a bit more tricky.
  17. pull the turbo off and check why it seized in the first place. it's no use 'fixing' it or replacing it only to have it fail again due to lack of oil or similar.
  18. If it's running on lpg it's going to take longer to start
  19. my 4k has 60thou oversize flat top pistons, decked block, 3k-b shaved and ported head, heavy duty valve springs lumpy cam etc. The cam makes a big difference but the compression is quite high so the stock starter motor struggles a bit
  20. Pretty sure there are some thick spacers available on ebay?
  21. Duct tape..... Lots of it!
  22. I wouldn't worry about it.these boxes are 30+ years old and If something craps out its not like its hard to find another k50.
  23. well if you wanna get rid of them i'm sure i could put them to use....
  24. Pull motor out, replace seal, refit motor. but thats how it starts.... "since i've already got the motor out i'll 'just' freshen it up".
  25. Have you still got the original seats? they looked like they were retrimmed?
