if your keen, just go to the wreckers and stick your head under as many cars and look to see if their swaybar has a hump in it. and when you find one, get your measuring tape out, and see how close it is to ke70. alternatively take a ke70 swaybar with you and try and match the dimensions up with one with a hump in it. about the only way your going to be able to do it without spending the big bucks on a custom sway bar. though i recall someone saying that custom swaybar didnt cost that much?

looked into KYB's? i got a pair for my car, gonna put them in this weekend. got a great price from GSL rally sport, like $109/each. this just for the basic type, the "excel G". AGX are a bit more at about 250$ each or so. 4-way adjustable though!

I Need To Pull The Center Of The Diff Out ???
ke70dave replied to hectic20s's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
It seems that the original question/problem has been answered/solved. and well...maybe my flaming wasnt completely required, but i had good fun writing my flame post. So everyone wins, well mainly me. And the OP, who i assume now has his diff centre out? -
I Need To Pull The Center Of The Diff Out ???
ke70dave replied to hectic20s's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
my favourite is how he spelt "didn't" dident Id say thats more effort than the correct spelling. or maybe the "e" from "pulled" magically jumped from "pulled" to "didnt", creating two brand new words, "pulld" and "dident" Though the apostrophe appears to be missing in action. -
yeah got a few good pics of crowns, will throw some up tonight. tell you what is cool, the toyota crown "comforts" they use as taxis. caught a few taxis over there (they are so cheap, especially with 4 people). the back left door can be opened electrically by the driver...and thats a factory thing!! (acording to wiki anyway) and all leather seats too, they really are designed for "comfort" no noisy gas powered falcons for the japanese, its leather interiour toyota crowns...with fender mirrors of course. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Comfort hehe check out the TRD version...3sfe supercharged!

of if your keen, pick up a 2nd hand head (you can get entire 4k's for $100 on here), buy a dremel, and have a crack at it! i always wanted to have a go at porting a 4k head, given they are so cheap and so easy to change. in the words of jeremy clarkson "how hard can it be" (I'm sure if i actually ported a head, it would have ended distasterously, but it would have been fun!)

in my experience the sierra shocks are far to stiff for use in old corollas anyway. had some in my mates ae86 (with about ~6kg) springs. pain in the butt, shocks so short they were topping out at any opportunity. and my mates car was pretty low as well, heaps lower than my car (in my little picture) and my car is only just legal. theres plenty of other options out there that are better than sierras. I'm not even sure why sierras are so "popular" they really don't suit the application at all. edit: just realised this was an uber old thread that got bumped.....oh well ill leave my reply there now.

thats what i was wondering? my cd player gives out enough light to make driving at night annoying! gota flip it down to get rid of the bright light in my eyes. back in the day i got some neons for a birthday present, so of course had to put them in... couldnt see ANYTHING out the windows if i had them on at night while driving.

thanks dude! unfortunately thats all the pics i have of the ke15:( ill ask the other guys that came with me if they have any, but i don't like the chances. the other guys werent into cars at all, and i sorta dragged them along to the museum.. but thats ok, i went to enough temples with them!! haha ill throw some more pics up tonight, they had some sweet old coronas there too!

folks, just got back from japan, went for about 13 days, but on one of the days i got a chance to go to the Nagoya Toyota museum! sooo many cool cars, here are a few i know you will all enjoy. in true toyota fan boy spirit you can see i am wearing my TRD shirt, i actually got a few japs trying to talk to me on the train, they were pointing at my shirt. unfortuantely they coudlnt speak a word of english, and i couldnt speak a word of japanese....but we had a common interest! apologies to the quality of the pics, only had my brothers really cheap point and shoot camera, and we were in a bit of a rush as we only got to the museum about 2hrs before it closed. there wasnt too many corollas there, these were the two cool ones, and a few other random shots thrown in there too. anyway...

hows the thermostat?

yeah sorry my reply wasnt directed at you trev, i didnt see that old fella had mentioned bearings. any luck twinky?
-
unsure if it will CAUSE it, but it certainly isnt good for the system this is interesting: http://www.calverst.com/articles/EL-Igniti...ted_systems.htm get the system back to standard, and then go from there.

may also be the condensor. the little capacitor thing on the dizzy somewhere. i remember my ke70/4k did a simliar thing, would start and idle fine and even free rev well, but as soon as you put the slightest of load it would splutter and die. (this is assuming the 2t has a condensor, I'm not familiar with the 2t at all)
-
could also be a wheel bearing too, as when you load up (or unload) the wheel the vibration will tend to go away.had this in an old mazda. jack up both front wheels and check wheel bearings/rack ends/bearings. to check the bearings, grab hold of the top and bottom of your tyre, and push/pull to see if there is any clearance. to check rack ends tie rod ends, get someone to hold the steering wheel still, and grab hold of front and back of the tyre and push/pull and check for clearance. if neither of those yeild results, get your wheel balance checked. (since checking stuff is free, but wheel balancing might cost, yes I'm a tight ass!!)

yeah agreed with this. the water here in brisbane isnt the greatest (nothing wrong with it, just tastes funny on its own) just had 2 weeks in japan, and damn the water there is fantastic... its prolly recycled, but it just tastes soooo gooddd out of the tap. we have a funky filter thing here at work, i think its a puratap, seems to work well, water tastes good.

kick ass wheels matty, they look unbeliveably good. me thinks now that ive graduated from uni i might need to take a visit to munji mods with some cash.... as for my offset? yeah its not worth showing:P unless you want to see positive offset:P

i have a yellow "k engine" toyota manual in my bookshelf...... what did you want out of it? i can maybe scan some in? one of these days i was thinking about getting really keen and scanning in the entire book....
-
nah itll be fine! i ran my 4age for ages on just the battery, when i first put it in and was testing it in my garage, trying to figure out how to wire the alternator:P just needed to charge it up every few hours! i do like the idea of an electric water pump, but i can't see it being much use on a standard engine. though like beerhead sais..every little bit counts. whats an electric pump cost anyway? from what i understand you have to buy the funky controller seperately or something. http://www.daviescraig.com.au/Electric_Wat...07-details.aspx damn 500 bucks. might as well buy a pair of cams for that price.
-
i too would like to know what this is based on... also i assume when you say "king springs" it is refereing to the "lows" "superlows" that are available. king spring actually have a motorsport range of springs, i bought my coilover springs from them (6kg, 200mm, 55?ID) and have had no problems. you can specify what spring rate you want, length and ID and you can pretty much choose whatever spring you want....

what you could do is wait for a coldish night, take your car for a blast up the road, then pull of your water pump/alternator belt. take it for another blast. I'm talking less than 10secs of driving here so it doesnt overheat. keep an eye on the temp and you'll be right. if you feel an extra 40kw then buy an EWP, if not, don't worry about it! or what you could do, is loosen your waterpump/alternator belt, if its squeeling its not stealing power from your engine;) haha (note, i prolly wouldnt do this to my own engine, but I'm happy to experiment on yours...)

my brother has a 95' hliux 4wd with the 22rc 2.4L? petrol engine. it does pretty well off road, but it is so damn slow on road. ive driven it a few times, and it is annoyingly slow, just will not rev! he does have bigger tyres on it, but it was still pretty bad with the standard ones... maybe some extractors and a better carby would help it along.... or maybe I'm just used to the zippyness of the corolla. ive personally never driven a diesel, but my mates work car was a brand new triton, 3L 4clr diesel turbo, damn that thing had some go to it. He only had the 2wd version, but i bet a 4wd version would be fun on the dirt.

what would be interesting to see though is the single turbo 1jz without the VVTi vs the dual turbo 1jz. these guys sorta did it. http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0103tur_...upra/index.html pretty interesting results.
