  1. do a budget. i did a budget and realised i spend a shed load of cash, on nothing.
  2. mmmm the ke70 steering should be light as. a few quetions to help us help you. -what size tyre are you using, and what type of tyre -what size rim and most importantly what offset are they -standard steering wheel or aftermarket, if so what size -what are your currnet wheel alignment settings, specifically castor. in short to put power steering in, ive not done it, but i theorise that you would need at least: -ae86 power steering rack (the import ones, adm ones only had manual steer). that should bolt in in place of the ke70 one, assuming the powersteering stuff doesnt hit anything in the engine bay -a power steering pump off the ae86, and most importantly figure out how to fit it to your 4k -probably need some sort of custom powersteering lines to make it work if the ae86 ones are either stuffed, or the wrong length. -maybe some sort of idle up system so you don't stall it in the carpark while steering.
  3. nice one! you guys got some cool cars. love that 2 door brown datsun. Those chrome wheels with circle cutouts are popular...every 2nd photo has them!
  4. cars with locked diffs are almost impossible to push with ANY turning (ie push start etc), like proper impossible. an amusing anicdote for you all. Involving the above ca18det ae86 with a yr22 torago diff locked with the ol' welder. car was REAAALLY low, stiff springs etc. we were at Queensland raceway one friday night, drifting around, did a big end (and i think much more...but def a big end) it still ran, but was making an aweful noise. figured we would try our luck driving home to wynnum (about 1hr), got about 15mins from QR, temp guage goes up rapidly, engine seized. so we left it there on the side of the ipswitch motorway, somehow it was still there the next day when my mate went back with a hired trailer. i think he got it started again somewhow, and for long enough to get it up onto the trailer. he drove home, arrived home, only to realise he has lost the key for the 86 on the way home, we reckon he left his keys ontop of his tow car, and they had fallen off on the drive. so at home, seized engine, locked diff, STEERING LOCK stuck on, and its ~100mm off the ground. do you know how difficult it is to menouver a car like this?!?! Damn near impossible.
  5. i have a grinds my gears. lacking customer service at shops. doing the gift registry thing at myer on the weekend. standing around at the gift registry desk waiting for about 25mins to be served, with a bunch of other people doing the same thing, and the lady kept coming over to us and saying "sorry I'm the only person on this level for the next hour, the other peson is on lunch, i have to serve these people at the register first". she was trying her best, but was just over whelmed from what she was required to do. It was midday on a saturday. Fancy having ONE person on a level of myer for an hour at midday on saturday? And the poor lady is just trying to do her job with absolutely minimal staff and copping a bit of flack from angry customers its not her fault the managers wont put on any extra staff. then the manager comes over to help, but he had no idea what he was doing, was more hindrence than help. Kept asking the lady questions on how to do things. They wonder why their sales have gone to crap. No way do i go anywhere near shops unless i really have to.
  6. ive only driven a car a handful of times with a locker (ca18det ae86, locked torago diff). I reckon it would be a dog to drive with stock ke70 power on tarmac (ie high grip). Spend the whole time going slow and fighting the car. the ca18det was fun as it A) spun the tyres very easily (both of them), B) had enough grunt to just power on through the annoying understeer, ie...turned into oversteer with a snap of the throttle. what i noticed though, was that the diff REAAALLLYY wanted to straighten up the car. like you were fighting it to keep it in a corner, especially a tight corner. and this was just with crappy 185/65/r14 tyres. if you were to get some proper grippy tyres, man it would be even worse to drive. would be great for dirt though, since you are always sliding anyway, whats a bit more sliding! After owning a proper (allbeit OEM torsen..) LSD, id never ever even think about a locker for tarmac use. A proper opperating LSD is a beautiful thing...
  7. What's your job?
  8. Saw this parked at carindale sort of near westfield shops, looked pretty neat!
  9. i reckon they look cool as. especailly that ke10. but damn id want a roll bar of some kind. i wonder if the chassis has been strengthened at all to compensate for the roof removal.
  10. fair enough. also i am aware of how many resurections and "come back to life" stories are in the bible, but i don't know about calling them ' zombies' though. Sort of implies the zombie type you get in horror movies. anyway you can pick appart christianity all you want, just make sure you know what you belive.
  11. fair enough, zombie it is. But i don't think you would find the word zombie in the bible though.
  12. I thought zombies were half dead, the bible sais jesus died and then rose. not half rose.....oh and eating bread and wine wont make you a christian. In the interest of happy foruming, how about we agree to disagree.
  13. that is a cool vid, Ive almost watched it all. the race track at 24mins is awesome
  14. it is a cool story. one back at ya.
  15. That has not gone well. hmmm been around hey http://www.fordforum...d.php?p=4266806 http://www.supraforu...searchid=164634 i assume there is more, just google hasnt discovered them yet. btw, how cheap are we talking here?
  16. probably becasue its a gineric kit for all cars. there should be wiring instructions though? the little actuator things arent designed to suit any car, you need to customise it for your own car like rian has done. basically get out the actuator and see how it works, then pull appart your door and see how it works, then figure out a way to fit the actuator so that it opperates the door properly and doesnt get in the way of the rest of the mechanisms inside the door. after a quick google there is apparently OEM central locking available for the ae92.
  17. The next time i buy a sports steering wheel I'm buying a nardi torino brand new. I had a nardi classic, brilliant wheel, but got a damn defect for it (no padded centre....) this is the torino http://cdn.sulitstatic.com/images/2010/1108/203612571_nardi1.jpg Which from what i can tell, is pretty much exactly the same as the classic, but has the padded triangle bit. boss kits are gineric things, there are a few different styles of how the wheel connects, just make sure the one you get fits the wheel you buy (supercheap auto, autobahn, anything that fits an ae86 from an importer etc). just becareful which ones are ADR approved.
  18. i work as a project manager at BP, so i don't design things or build things...i tell others to do it! i was designing untill recently.....
  19. mine got through on rattle can white body, and rattle can matt black roof. (previous owner....) originally a blue car.... registered as a white car, then when i painted it changed details to blue...
  20. ohh that is soo true. yeah i took 5.5yrs....bit over it at the end. i don't think i could pass any of the exams i did, and i only graduated ~2yrs ago. my current employer didnt even look at my marks at the interview.........in fact i never even showed him my degree. which is good, as i would have to go and dig it out!! i really should frame that thing, along with my HECS statement.
  21. any details on that KAAZ LSD for the ke70 diff? part number?
  22. also in the notes on the website it sais: "The petition will be presented to Wagga City Council on 9/5/2012, but will remain open for ongoing support of the proposal." so even the 10th would have missed the boat! I suppose we can still sign it for "ongoing support" i just signed it them.
  23. Ahh civil. The science of things that don't move. Or at least aren't supposed to!!!
