  1. that is very cool. any chance of a photo of the guage cluster? Some epic retroness going on there.
  2. quads + slant = looks weird (like late 80s ford escort, cept they looked good...) quads + flat = looks great. best off converting to flat front before you try and fit the quads.
  3. keep in mind that measuring sound is a VERY fine art. the difference between a proper measurement, and a dodgy measurement could be the difference between angling the microphone slightly wrong, and this could make a massive difference to your reading. remember that an increase of 3db, is doubling the sound level. so there is a MASSIVE difference between 90db and 96db. and it really matters what you are comparing it to. i think the ADR is something like X db @ 1m behind at 45degree (don't quote me) if the police man just shoves the microphone any which way, he will get a reading that will be wrong. also background noise plays a huge role as well. i did a 1 course at uni on acoustics, and holy dooly its complicated.
  4. especailly at lakeside. i think its even less than 95 there. because some numpty bought a house across the lake from a race track. i can't think of a good reason to run a side pipe, other than "it looks cool". which is probably a good enough reason. but don't think its worth the hassle really.
  5. yeah cool volvo, but mindless burnouts are a bit lame. is this the same car? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-xzkCdtMx8&feature=related
  6. ahhhh i don't. but google does. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_A_engine#4A http://s-86.com/s-20v-differences.html http://www.billzilla.org/4agmods3.htm read everything on the above websites, especailly billzillas site, then you will have a pretty good understanding on the differences.
  7. difference between silvertop and black top in terms of power is stuff all. 1.6L N/a too powerful for a P plater? we all had turbo nissans and V8s as p platers! for electrics id start here: http://www.club4ag.com/faq_and_tech_pages/ECU%20Japan%204age_20v_Black.htm the fuel pump requires a specail setup, called a "circuit opening relay". half controlled by ingition, half controlled by ecu....sorta. basically so if you crash and the ignition is on, you arent pumping fuel onto your engine...which will be on fire. something like this: http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Circuit_Opening_Relay_Wiring
  8. very very cool. thats got some go to it.
  9. maybe he reverses his car up to the beach when he goes swiming, so he can hang is towel on his towel rack/spoiler.
  10. i would just experiminet with it to be honest. wire it all up, but also wire in a over ride switch. pick some numbers, and watch the temp guage, adjust to suit. i had a simliar device to what you describe. i set it up by trial and error, based on when the temp guage started to move off its "normal position" (about 82deg). I found it never turned on unless the car had been sitting in traffic for more than about 5mins. only then did the temp guage start to rise and the fans kicked in.
  11. probably the BEST video i have seen for a very long time. give yourselves 30mins to watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qp_qxKWMsVw&list=UU5rBpVgv83gYPZ593XwQUsA&index=5&feature=plcp
  12. unless you sticky tape a $100 note to the grill. 100% guaranteed way to add $100 value to your car.
  13. i think i bought my ae71 pedal box for $80 about 5yrs ago. and i still think i got ripped off for a 30yr old hunk of steel.

I'm loving the look of those fuel pumps up there rian. haha the lift pump is so small. ive never heard of goss before, i remember when i bought mine i just walked into repco and said "can i please have the small fuel pump, not the big one, from a VL commondore" this is the surge tank i used. http://www.efihardware.com/products/183/surge-tank-small-under-floor 600ml. and only 90bucks! and once you have ordered that, go and check out some of hte other gear they sell. be prepared to wipe the drool off your keyboard. exhibit a: http://www.efihardware.com/products/716/race-series-4-cyl-economy-kit-DCOE
  15. Gloss gun metal type color looks cool as! are the indicators on the guards always in that spot? looks pretty cool. nice looking corolla too, all us australians are very gelous of T engined, 2 door, DX corollas! whats the plan for the rest of the car?
  16. id connect all those thigns up first, then see what doesnt work. sounds like you have everything covered there. that black one might be something obscure like Aircon turn on or something. also rememebr that if you are using standard ke70/ae71 dash cluster, you will need to put the temp sender from the 4k/4ac into the 4age, else it will be the wrong resistance, they might be the same, best to check though.
  17. yeah ive gotta get onto the windscreen guys its a pretty decent chunk taken out, probably 6mm across, and 2 thin cracks starting to grow.... luckily its in the bottom 1/3 of the screen, and about in the middle.
  18. i had 6kg, could have done with a bit softer, but i only had basic KYB excel G shocks. if i went for a softer than 6kg spring i reckon id want to go a more heavy duty shock absorber...
  19. I'm fairly sure the coilvoer kit i had on my ke70 was an otomoto kit. seemed to work fine. in response to rians problem with the top hat sitting flat with the camber top, i had this problem, i just got the local machine shop to machine up a spacer, cost me like $30 i think for 2. sorted that problem out. the real difference between coiloer kits seem to be the weld on type (steel thread) and the bolt on/set screw type (alloy thread) no way id have any set screws in any of my suspension, but not sure on the legalities of welding suspension either.
  20. the large chip in my windscreen, and the fact i didnt check the windscreen protection box on my insurance 9months ago:( might be able to get it repaired, but i think i could see 2 cracks growing even as i was driving.......
  21. that corolla would be awesome if the tyres fit the wheels, and the tyre/wheel fit the car.
  22. Hi, So are you wanting to buy a brake booster for your car? if so i will move your topic to the wanted to buy section. also you will need a location to help us help you!
  23. i always wanted to hook up a little switch to set off my reversing lights while driving, that would really freak some people out.
  24. the smallport 4age has an additional oil drain in the head, which i assume is to help and stop the oil pooling in the head. you don't say which engien you have (bigport or small), but perhaps you should put an external oil drain directly into the sump? if it is a bigport head. or just put a drain on the bottom of your catch can into the sump?
  25. Dalby. wish i was going, unfortunately I'm at work. will be a great concert, not sure about the rain though.
