  1. id be very suprised if a bit of foam is the cause of valves not shutting properly though. That stuff would burn up VERY quickly once it got anywhere near combustion.. Have you done a compression test on it? have you fixed up all those gasket problems? id be pulling the carby to bits and cleaning every single bit very well, blowing air down each of hte little tubes etc. if it wont idle theres a good chance the idle jet if full of crap, if it stopped idling when this drama all begun. just my thoughts anyaway..
  2. http://www.ae92gts.com/ae92gts_ignition.html i'd give it a measure on your multi meter, talks about coil resistance in that link.
  3. id be measuring the resistance of the 2 coils. therse a spec for it, and if its out of spec it goes in the bin.
  4. your talking about a 4k yeah? cause last time i checked, you just show a 4k your socket wrench and it pops out of the engine bay. Last time i pulled a 4k out, i reckon we had it out in less than 1hr! gearbox and all. certainly doesnt sound good for your oil pump, ive not ever had the pleasure of changing one on any engine (just jinxed myself havent I.....)
  5. ahh i see. yeah well if you don't like it after months then you might not ever like it! Only a ke70 owner would have the intuition to find a use for a large vacuum cleaner pipe on their car, love it!
  6. i had a twinky wheel on my ke70, i reckon it was so much better for spirited driving having the stalks miles away. before the twinky wheel i had a ~100mm boss kit so i guess i was kinda used to it... maybe try it for a week before you bend them?
  7. Who is Cathy?
  8. welcome to rollaclub mate. the realty is, anything that wasnt standard on a car is going to need fairly major modification to fit into it. the rear differentials most definately, pretty much anything will "fit". its a matter of modifying the mounting points in order to allow them to fit. the general way of doing this for differentials is to get a standard differential, and your chosen upgraded one, and transfer all the mounts from the stnadard one to hte new one in exactly the same spot. using some sort of jig to position them. 82 corolla coupe would be simliar to the ke70 series here, popular donor rear differnetials include R31 skyline, hilux, torago etc. which all require extensive modification to install into the car. but given you are in america you might have better/different cars to choose from.
  9. Pictures tell 1000 words of a cars condition. which is 999 words better than your current description of "good"
  10. the color coded bumpers certainly are an improvement, still quite large ironing boards there though...
  11. get into it. 2hrs 10mins of 1998 WRC.
  12. hahah nice. i really hope that guy got his statistics from the same place as reed.
  13. just imagine what else you could do with that money, feeding starving children perhaps, but thats another arguement all together. The mars mission It is quite incredible. i think what is also interesting to consider. It has taken the brainiest of brainiest howeever long to get a car onto the next planet, yet our little expedition is nothing more than a spec on a spec when you consider the accepted size of the universe. Really puts our position into perspective. Amazing achievement none the less. not to mention the whole thing has been friggin automated and remote control. I think that is a good part of the amazement. not only did we get the car there, knowone has touched it since it took off. I wonder what the ping time is to get information from that car. Talk about LAG.
  14. I'm sure if you just called up any panel shop and told them you're story they will give you a ballpark figure even without seeing it. Find a few close to you and get on that phone ;)
  15. its amazing the difference between a s1 and an s3 though. s1 looks like a peice of crap. especailly the wagons.... but get a s3 sedan with small external changes (front lights, both bumper, tail lights, the boot spoiler, i think there is an extra lip in there somewhere...) and all of a sudden its a nice looking car. and the passage and silhouette interiour is a massive improvement over the gx or whatever the low end ones are. the TI is up there as well, i belive it even has power windows!
  16. the R31 is the ke70 of the nissan world cheap car to buy, but all the go fast bits from more expensive cars fit. id love a pillarless r31 or a s3 silhouette. great cars, not that heavy, and upgrades are abundant. one of those import 2 door GTS's would be great, IRS and all, but they fetch a pretty penny so not really in the cheap category anymore..
  17. Welcome back to the ke70 world! nice little beast you have there. still miss that ae71 you had though, my drive of that car a few yrs back showed me how good it was!
  18. i have a htc one xl with the 4g. infortunately the 4g is only really in the centre of the city and maybe 1 suburb out. but i got onto it the other day, and damn its fast alright. but the reality is anything mobile was fast enough on 3g anyway (google maps, general browsing). And with only 1.5gb data it would get used up VERY fast at that speed. hopefully once the 4g network gets bigger, wireless home internet might be worth while.... i was using my phone as a teather for my laptop at home while waiting for TPG (just 3g but full bars) and it was pretty damn good, brilliant for browsing with lots of images etc, just not as fast as youd like for youtubes, especially HD stuff. overall i find the telstra mobile internet coverage brilliant. thats why i swapped for "3" in the first place, and I'm glad i did.
  19. haha! man if you had 3 matching coloured kmart size clips on your cap, you were the COOLEST.
  20. And I can't ride one now. Casualty report one bruised knee.
  21. its shame that there isnt much ft86 left...just a hacked in supra motor or wahtever. either way, looks damn fun to drive. i want to have a go.
  22. nice work. looks like you have the skills to bring her back from the rusty mess it was in post #1. agreed don't rush it, but I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product.
  23. speaking of hipsters, whats the go with these tiny small skateboards i see people with? called a "penny skateboard". here it is http://www.pennyskateboards.com/home.html#!prettyPhoto katrina apparently bought one last night at a fundraising auction, not really knowing what it was other than a "cute little skateboard". seems like a daft idea to me. a normal sized skateboard is hard enough to ride. but it wont stop me from trying to ride it in the hallway tonight, which will most likey end with me on the floor in pain, and the skateboard half stuck in the plaster wall.
  24. unfortauntely I also belive that there are specific types of hats designd to have a flat brim. sort of like a monks hat with an extra bit.
