  1. just sounds to me like the dreaded starter solenoid drama. happends to just about all cars over 30yrs old. have a google around on how to put a relay in your starter solenoid wire, should fix it up.
  2. I like that "Grill" though. seen it a few times now, quite unique.
  3. ahh i wasnt specifically talking about the car the arguement was about (i assume its about that green one in that video?), was more aimed at drifters in general. reading back i can see how it coudl have seen i was bagging the green car. i actually like that green car, from the quick photos of the car itself, it looks like a serious bit of kit. but yeah the scraping tyres certainyl detracts from the car, for me. but each to their own eh.
  4. Hi sir, nice looking 25. Unfortunately we don't allow expressions of interest here, can you please provide a price to ensure you are complying with the rules. Regards Mods team.
  5. i reckon if drifters spent less time making their cars dragging along the ground, they would spend less money fixing body parts tyres and guards, and more time actually drifting!!! "yeah man make it lower, nah lower! yeah even lower!" "oh smashed my front bar, side skirts, ripped my guards, popped my tyre on my guard, when i ran over that coke can, but it was sick!" "lets do it all again, but this time, lets make it even more lower!" i am really enjoying riley's car at the moment, i usually woudnlt have been a fan of the wheels, but with the color and quality of the paint, the whole thing looks fantastic. perfect height as well.
  6. The temp sensor switch on thermo fans fail closed so the fan is always on. I would track down the temp switch and test it.
  7. look under the back of the car.
  8. I think he is taking about my old car, so it is already setup as per my tech articles floating around. That Bosch external pump was in unknown condition when I got it, so I wouldn't be siprised if its past its use by date.
  9. ive seen a few of them on the road now. damn cool looking cars. i want one.
  10. yeah its been done to death. but since oyu have a working 4age in an ae82, you are almost there, main points: -intake manifold - find a RWD one or modify yours -exhaust manifold- find a genuine RWD or buy aftermarket extractors -loom/ecu - both work, but the loom probably needs to be extended for RWD use, it fits sorta but its damn tight. -fitting on back of head, can't recall if the FWD one fits, fwd goes striaght out, RWD one does a 90 deg bend to save space -rwd gearbox (t50) and starter to suit (RWD ae71 or ae86), clutch to suit, 2022 pilot bearing into flywhee. -retain the remote thermostat thingo from the ae82. run pipes as per google search. thats about it! (pluss fuel system and wiring into ke55)
  11. I always enjoy photos of your engineering masterpeice altezza club. that is your SU carbs airbox thing. but yeah, unless the carbs have provision for the pcv, i belive its catch can time. i did the cokebottle trick back when i ran a nikki carby. I think if i did it again i would at least use something that looked mildly original. i can't imagine police would be too kind to a coke bottle with a pipe in it in the engine bay! i think to be strictly legal you need to put the vent from the catch can back into the engine, easier said than done with fancy carbys with no air box though.
  12. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1652379-Understanding-the-Single-Side-Parking-Light-function there we go. i knew it was a european thing, maybe shrilanka got this feature back in the day? i reckon that is kinda cool, but not sure what the point of it is.
  13. If its not a stock engine you can't run a stock ecu. Anything more than a better exhaust and the stock ecu goes in the bin!
  14. if you are going to buy them new, you can get a hydraulics shop to make anything you want. just walk into the store with your old one and say "2 new ones of this please"
  15. haha yeah. 4age is great if you get stuff cheap. but with current prices, and the age of parts (that you need to reco anyway), its getting just as economical to put in an sr20det. (minus the differential upgrade i guess)
  16. i spent 2 yrs scouring forums collecting 4age 16v conversion parts, picking them up as cheap as possible. still cost me $3000 (that was with a professional ~$550 exhaust) that was just the engine, gearbox, pedal box, wiring, fuel system. no brakes or suspension. buy a car already converted!!! do_eet!!!
  17. Don't be scared, run it high compression and on e85!
  18. well a bit of an update on the old beast. -remote central locking installed (already had central, i added the remote, just a jaycar kit for $50), katrina kept scratching the door with her keys.......so fixed that once and for all. -had to replace the rear brake pads, they were screaching for some reason, looked to have a fair bit of meat left, but threw some bendix in there, $35 and a few hrs work and back on the road in a non screaching fashion. -powersteering pump appears to be making a bit of noise, topped it up with fluid which helped, seems to drive and steer ok, woudlnt be suprised if i need to reco that in the coming months, but goes alright for the time being! next on the list is going to be a new cd player. see if i can find a cheap double din to replace what is there, else ill have to go for the aftermarket pocket type thing. Yesterday used the tow bar for the first time, picked up a washing machine, a dryer and a lawn mower. bit of a highway drive (50kms or so). Miele (spelling?) appliances, so they weighed a ton, and its probably a medium sized trailer... not gonna lie, it didnt like 100km/h very much with all this on it....it was quiet on the roads so i just sat on 90km/h. Putted along just fine! anyway obligatory photo!
  19. ^^^ that is VERY annoying.
  20. mine started off as one of these gineric "flat cap cars" half a days work and a trip to the wreckers and it was back to normal. there are 8 moving parts in a ke70, takes stuff all effort to revive one from a rain warrior death...
  21. i assume you pushed it out there leo:P unless you had some epic success with that wiring?
  22. I hope you realise how much a service costs on a 4k...Nice car
  23. The oil pressure sender is what costs the big bucks. VDO guage is around $45, the sender is over $80!
  24. essentailly in QLD - if you make modifications that fall outside of the "simple" modifications limits, you need a mod plate. this helps http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/~/media/c792a0c9-92b1-43ee-933b-7bdd8b20842f/pdf_modification_motor_vehicles2.pdf just ring that modplate number man, his name is randall, and he will tell you everything you need to know.... as far as i understand, if you want to try and get a car registered in anothe rstate it is considered to be unregistered here. so you need to go through the normal registration process which in QLD is a legitimate road worthy certificate and a bunch of forms and money to DOT. RWC people will require modifications to be mod plated if they require it. of course htere will be exceptions where RWC mechanics don't pick up on mods, but just do it right and do it properly. save headache in the future.
  25. mmmm id just get the thing legal, get a legit RWC and then not have to worry at all... this guy is really friendly, spoken to him a number of times about various wacky project ideas...i think he might do RWC as well, not sure. http://modplate.com.au/ he just did a plate for a 1.6L vitara engine into a suzuki sierra for a mate, was somewhere between 150 and 200 bucks.
