  1. Not as harsh? You'll get defected a hell of a lot easier in Adelaide than you will in melbourne! And Adelaide defects are harder to get off than Vic ones as well.
  2. Mate, if you want to work in engineering product design, head to melbourne. Mining, oil and gas, head to Perth or Brisbane. As for getting a 16/18, I've bought 2 in the past 8 years in melbourne as well, but there's also a bunch floating around adelaide, but none of us will get rid of them ahahaha.
  3. Paint stripper and hard work would be the other way haha!
  4. ACA and Today tonight - you just got stooged man! haha. Those shows always have crackpot shit like this. While you're on google, have a search for: -Browns Gas -Over Unity -Aether -Perpetual motion and -The laws of the conservation of energy.
  5. Always wanted to use this smiley: :P Link xstatic you might not be so ecstatic to hear that you're quite a way off the mark, we have quite a sound set of rules regarding engine swaps in cars in SA, its just that everybody flaunts them.
  6. If you're smart about the seasonal thing, you can probably get it dialled so you just swap jets over. Mate of mine used to drag race a triple carb 6. He had a set of jets for heathcote and a set of jets for calder (Altitude difference!)
  7. Can you bead blast panels? Double check that dougal, I know if you use the wrong media when blasting panels that you can warp the panel quite easily. I'd make sure your blaster has done car stuff before you give it to him.
  8. How did I only just see this thread! Cool. Fun looking project mate. Interested to hear what you come up with for the baffles. I have a couple of ideas how you'd do it, you should only need a couple of short ones in and around the oil pickup I would have thought?
  9. Leaf spring is still a spring, it just has a swaybar effect as well. Start with the KE20 strut tops, then chop a coil, then if you really need lower start fiddling with the leaf.
  10. Cheaper and easier to learn some patternmaking skills, design your own twincam head and pattern it and cast them. Seriously.
  11. 5k Behind the toyoglide? Interesting, most people put them in front haha. I was going to bolt my 5k to a toyoglide, but then the 5 speed came up cheap. It'd take the power no worries, take it much better than the 5 speed would.
  12. 33kgs vs the kemppis 9.4! And it has a screen for welding retards that you just dial in the material thickness! Maybe I have too much money to burn but I'll take the kemppi! haha. But yeh, you can get heaps cheaper welders with more grunt. But is it a COOL welder?
  13. Watch the caps lock mate. You could get it laser cut, water cut, plasma cut, wire cut etc. If you're smart you might even be able to avoid getting it welded if you're fabricator has a fancy v brake.
  14. Check out the Kemppi 180 machine, absolute gold machine. A boilermaker I know recommended it to me. Portable as, user (read - stupid person) friendly and its TINY. Can do gas as well. He's seen ticketed welders doing structural work with one of these running gasless. Crazy. ~1600 bucks. Cool. LINK
  15. Angly grinder with a slitting disc. Slice it all off and wham. Done. Problem with using donor pieces is you have to find a good enough car to donate!
  16. No kidding. Problem solved! wasn't he talking about a sand wedge, one o them golf hittin'-sticks? ahaha.
  17. Keep your eyes peeled on here, they come up a fair bit. Ebay has them come up occasionally, and look out for Liteace vans on ebay as well, I've seen them cheap running with the 5k (often have the 4k though, check the engine number) Doing it in a day is very possible, but if you don't know which end of a screwdriver is the functional end, it'll take longer than that.....
  18. Making trumpets at work you say? Tell me more.....

    My Ke25

Haha - Hemi 'Cuda style hahahahaha.
  20. What's the soda blast goinr to cost you, and are they coming to you to do it?
  21. Jeebers. I'll be able to whoop everything all the way to 75kmh hahaha. Keep us posted on that tercel diff Gav, I want to deck my wagon for good open road driving.
  22. I used stainless because I could get it same price from a laser cutter we used at work. I'd go with steel or stainless though, for the longevity.
  23. I hate it how RAGE never shows the artist and song names at the end of the song GOD DAMN IT!
  24. Yeh, that trick usually works - just put the Handbrake half on and reverse a couple of metres. Should wind them out nice. My bluebird ones didn't do this though, so I had to jack the wheel up and poke a screwdriver in through the back of the drum to wind a little adjuster knob. All you do is wind it up til the wheel doesn't turn, then back it off slowly until it frees up again. Front drums usually have a nut on the back to do this.
  25. I drew up the strut top brackets and had 2 sets cut for 50 bucks. (Not for a rolla) 12 bucks for 2 tie rod ends, 1 left handed threaded. We welded plugs into the end of a steel tube and drilled and tapped them. I still have the M12 LH Tap. Then you just stick a locknut on and its all go.
