15x8 +20 is about right for fronts. You might need spacers to clear the struts.

Even the base model Aussie cars have a fuel light, they just don't often work like mine.

Car Acts As If Has Dead Battery, With Charged Battery
LittleRedSpirit replied to p0rt's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
9 times out of ten its a loose ground cable. Remove all the grounds from the chassis rails, clean them, sand where they touch back to bare metal and tighten the bolts up really well. You can add an extra cable too, if need be. Mine had a big problem with this for a short while, would start sometimes, not others. Always would roll start, though. When you turn the key I'm assuming you hear the starter solenoid fire (click), but there isn't enough juice coming through to turn it over? Mine felt tight when I shook the cables but when I removed the main one there was a black spot of burnt metal where the thing was arcing a mm to start on the chassis rail. Look for little spots that look like welds to see if this is happening, and good luck. It could be timing, but if its not turning over at all its probably grounds. Put a multimeter on the starter terminal and see what it reads when you turn the key. Under about 9 volts it probably wont turn over, depending on which motor you have. -
May as well, Optus signal strength is comparable to Briz31 at the moment. :hmm:

Please use a relay. Mybowlcut, you get wiring diagrams with most any electrical device you buy. Stop asking for answers and start finding them yourself, please. There are plenty of books with electrical theory you can read to get explanations of the symbols and terms. Just wondering, Jason, it looks like some of the radiator core is obscured by the metal which it mounts too, is this to reduce efficiency so it runs warm enough, or just to mount a radiator thats really wide? Or does it only obscure it at the top? can't really see the front of it in the photos. Did you remove any metal from the radiator support to give it airflow? You'll probably find its a bit cold if you give it too much air.

Thanks again for the support. No Jason, I havent read that. Id like to though, if its about DMT. I don't really want to use it, I just think it may hold the key to a lot of the things we don't understand about the brain and sleep. I did some philosophy at uni and it was incredibly interesting trying to study the brain and its processes from that point of view. I heard DMT naturally occurs in many, many plants and grasses and can be easily made at home though...

Yeah it was directed at you and anyone else who jumps on a car forum to talk about their life choices, and the life choices of others. Comment on yourself, sure, but you have no right to bring anyone else into this. If I was one of your friends and read what you had written about me drinking and doing drugs to be cool, Id honestly be telling you to f@$k off for good. A good slap in the face would be in order. How dare you? I know you'd say something like, 'oh but I just care about you people and I don't want you to get hurt', when in actual fact, you care more about judging people. I think there is quite a few things you have overlooked in all your wisdom. You do not give any creed to the enjoyment these people are giving themselves with their behaviour. The use of any drugs is a highly personal thing. Not something that a straight edge teenager would understand. Have you ever heard of DMT? Its a psycho active drug, that your body produces in massive quantities while you have REM sleep. When you wake up, its gone. There is no hangover, or life changing evil consequences. Quite frankly every time you dream, you are using DMT. The reason that many people like to take it sober is because they are seeking an awareness of dreams, and some greater understanding of their own mind. So face it, every time your head hits the pillow, you are mainlining a psycho active drug, straight into the brain. Now can you begin see how connected humans are to this type of thing, and why some people are curious and experimental about things? There is a big wide world out there full of information, facts and experiences you will never know about, because you are shutting off a lot of what it is to be human. You have been handed a simplified understanding of the world by a number of factors, religion, government, parents, a million different things. Its up to you to break the mold and think for yourself. That doesnt have to involve doing drugs, but it does involve seeking a greater form of understanding than 'people are just doing it to be cool'. It seems to you anyone who is drinking or doing anything you don't agree with, is just trying to be cool. That is judgmental as hell, and a big slap in the face to anyone who reads it with a coldie in their hand. That's your interpretation and it really just comes off like you are really really naive and afraid of the world. For thousands or possibly millions of years, humanoid life forms have used mind altering substances to do many things, have spiritual experiences, for personal enjoyment, medicines, rites of passage, recreation etc. Just because you live in the most prohibitionist and conservative society of all time, isn't any reason to forget the past history of humans and our ancestors. Have you ever read any books on shamanism, considering all your wisdom? People do these things because they choose to, and you have no right to comment on anything about their lives. You telling me they think they are cool for doing it is your simplified understanding. You have no right to tell anyone what someone else is thinking, because there is no way you could possibly know. You thinking you do is a massive sign of stupidity, quite frankly. You don't give anyone any credit for having made their choices, and being willing to live with the consequences. On the issue of sex, who are people trying to impress with their coolness by sleeping around? They have no ongoing connection with their sex partners, so its not them. I know I couldn't care less who my mates are shagging, so its probably not the peer group of friends, oh my god, maybe they actually enjoy sex? No way, they must just be trying to be cool and show off. I'm not saying its fine to sleep around, do hard drugs, or get pissed as a newt 7 nights a week. I am saying that you have a lot to learn about respecting the choices of others and a lot of personal growth required to get to a point where the behavior of others is rightfully understood as none of your damn business. You don't have to agree with me, in fact I expect you will not. I'm fine with that. You don't even have a patch of an understanding about these people. For you to call them friends the way you are judging them and insulting their intelligence is a massive stretch. Would you be comfortable showing your friends this thread with all you have written about them and their choices?

The "omg Guess What Happened Today" Thread

Bahahaha. I know how that feels. I had a clipper failure mid crew cut once and needed to visit the hairdresser, stat! -
To the straight edge folks, I don't have a problem with anyone, as long as they don't try to push their values on me. The thing I've noticed about straight edge people is that they often times aren't content with what they do in their own lives. They seek validation by going out and preaching the lifestyle to anywhere that they feel they will be listened to. 99 times out of a hundered these people are under 23 years of age, hell usually under 20. You will find most people have grown out of it by 25. The people who pick it up later in life are oftentimes those who've had substance abuse problems, but all the little preachy, judgemental little xWankerx kids wouldn't want to accept them since they've done hard drugs and drugs are bad mmmmkay. Choices like those are ultra personal. I don't understand why xWankerx types come to internet forums to preach. If you ask people fairly early in the piece whether they are xedgex or not and let that influence whether you respect the person or not, you are limiting your life down to a small pinhole of what it ruly is. At the end of the day, freedom of choice is the most important thing to me. I reserve the right to make any choices I want, whether everyone agrees with it or not. This is how life should be. People don't appreciate lectures and they don't appreciate this life coaching bullshit that xWankerx types preach. That is why they antagonize you on the forums. Quite frankly most people do some sort of drug, and you're basically offending all of them with your pious judgements on drinking, smoking, and my personal favorite, having dirty monkey sex. Honestly, you are missing out. If you can't just shut your mouth and get a warm fuzzy feeling inside from your clean living you are in it for the wrong reasons.

Adaptronic ecus rock but hes only got 6 months, Tabby.

I think it needs to be wild looking to pull of those wheels. That ae86 has kind of ruined them for me. I know any car I build wont be that far off tap to pull them off like it does. They just look so racey, especially when theyre spinning! But hey, each to their own. Good luck whatever you do. Just promise me you'll buy the rotas and not the drifttek things if you do get them.
-
Well the rotas are only cheaply available in Australia in 16x8, afaik. So 16s it is. But seriously its not gonna look that great on a fairly stock car, imo.

If you want some slightly more modern jap style wheels for it, have a look at the originals that they are copied off. You'd be looking for Rota Grids (the knockoffs afaik) or Volk TE37 (the originals afaik) for a similar style thats lightweight. Anything called drift tek must be heaps of shit, Id reckon. These are the 'originals', as such, these are what you'd be better off with, imho. They look great on racey old cars in bold colours, see the josh young V8 ae86 for clarification, but perhaps not gonna work visually on a fairly streetable older car. Might be a bit of a mismatch. Anything bigger than 16s will be a big fail, both for handling and for looks. Jap Originals: http://www.rayswheels.co.nz/wheels/volk_te37.htm Phillipines made copies: http://www.otomoto.com.au/images5/Rota16x8.jpg and heres the Josh Young ae86:

I know exactly how you feel, mate. I had the same experience with my back gaurds. BFH and heat gun ftw! :P

Saw this rig in the flesh yesterday. I have to say, its a sexy chassis. very straight and very clean, and I love the cool overseas spec dash. Even the seats are cool in this thing, way cooler than sedans, and the vinyl floor is sick. Just a shame the bumpers arent perfect but you can't win them all, I guess. Your gonna have some fun together, you and the Pano! :P
-
I don't think its that dodgy, as long as you only make a small change. If you get all your track from wheels you can have other problems. In general I prefer the steering on a car with the front wheels close to the strut. Nice car, especially without those massive rims.

Witch Pedal Box For Ke70 Other Than Ae71
LittleRedSpirit replied to yohann's topic in Engine Conversions
If you have an ae86 clutch pedal, hold it there and see that it fits, if not, how can you say works and what doesnt? It sits next to it. Not where you say it goes. Ive lined it up and that bit on the firewall where it sits has a special shape to it, its an inch or two over from that spot youve indicated there. Get an AE86 clutch pedal and you will se what I mean. I cannot make any more comments until you know what I'm trying to explain for yourself. -
Witch Pedal Box For Ke70 Other Than Ae71
LittleRedSpirit replied to yohann's topic in Engine Conversions
Of course it doesn't have the clutch mount, that's why you use an ae86 one, its a standalone clutch pedal, just like the piece that holds the clutch pedal in an ae71 pedal array but its separate to the brake pedal assembly. It just sits there right next to it, basically touching it. I don't know what metal tab you refer to thats in the way, I think I need pics? All you need to do is bolt in a complete ae86 clutch pedal, and swap out a brake pedal, not the mount and all. If there is a tab in the way grind it off. The thing about the t18 box is it moves the steering wheel a lil bit, and the entire ae86 setup doesn't hold the steering column at all. Thats why the auto brake mount is great, it holds the steering in the correct spot and mounts the brake pedal. -
Thats a nice looking chart. Nice steady powerband all the way to the top. Just how it should be, IMO.
