They do it here in QLD too. 3 strikes and your car gets crushed. I think its very unfair. The wreckers that crush these full house cars for the cops must surely realise that they are crushing up to 50k in parts that would recycle fine each time they do this. It doesn't make sense from so many points of view. Envirinmental, econimic, human rights etc. Its a heavy handed rage fueled response with no real though put into it. There was a time when before they legislated such things they would do some research, maybe hire a university to do a study and make some recommendation on how to handle it. Now we get the gung ho politicians who want to be sheriff trying to make laws all over town. It makes me sick, they are eroding the rights of the individual, they cannot effectively decide who is a street racer and who isn't on car appearance alone. What ever happened to having to being caught doing something before you could get prosecuted for it. The need a special task force for such things. It just sounds to me like anyone with a sports car is in danger. I bet they wont crush the Ferrari the judge drives, or the supercharged 6.3 litre mercedes the legislators are getting around in, and those guys could blow us boyracers into the weeds. Unfortunately the way it works the laws will be passed and the onus will be on the citizens to fight the laws and prove in court that they are prosecuting people without people having committed a crime. Either that or just start a protest, tun it to a riot and torch all the legislators cars. Imagine how they'd feel if the shoe were on the other foot. Perhaps you can start a motorist advocacy group to build a loud voice of opposition. If they could provide us with more facilities to try entry level motorsport we would use them. The few racetracks we have in QLD are booked out months in advance, so even arranging to get there can be very hard. We have nowhere else to go. Why not try to provide somewhere, then you have every right in the world to say stay off the streets. They have a drag racing series in far western Queensland now, which I bet not many people have heard about. They close the airports and have drag and burnout comps on the runways. They actually go out of their way to have a scheduled event in an easily accessible place where anyone can participate. I think all metro governments need to look at this model and realise that you cannot just prohibit mass parts of our culture. If they supported the sporting aspect of it wed be in a much better position as far as us enthusiasts go. Its time for a revolution. People need to stand up for themselves. How far will they push us before we unite and up rise against our oppressors. Once they stick a microchip in your arm its all over, we wont be able to fight back thanks to anti-terror laws. More proof that you should save the weight and run without subs and amps in an old car. Just prodding... Nah seriously, the issue with silicon is its impossible to paint over, and its got a knack for allowing rust to start. Sikaflex is good, as said above, buy the stuff designed as panel glue that all the panelbeaters use. Or dump the subs and go faster...

That front end is awesome. We got it here on the pannos. I really dig it. Missing the end caps which sucks, Id say its worth a pretty penny, mainly just for how perfect it is. I could do without the rotary, but that's just a preference. I see the dashs they had included a din slot where our shitty radios are on our kes, that's a nice touch. Saves cutting the dash up too much and there's always the edge showing. I want it!!! Hopefully this is what my pano front project will look like. I assume your now looking for the little chrome f@$kers. Id suggest the bigger ae71 style mirrors for 2 main reasons. 1. Still Available, and the rare left hand side ones are available new from www.ozeparts.com.au. 2. Better Visibility thanks to a bigger area and you get a wide view cause they are quite long. Chrome ones look cool tho.

These kind of wierd ones are often hard to diagnose, sometimes surprisingly easy. Start by putting a spanner over all the crucial bolts in the engine bay. Engine mounts, gearbox to motor union, suspension, every damn thing. If nothings loose get back to us.

Your talking halfcuts mate. I'm talking motor. A fwd halfcut for a RWD convo is the king of money wasters. Get in Quick, they had 6 motors there last time I went, and all of them were cheap, pre yen/dollar shitfall. Get a blacktop. They are superior. Ive owned both. Ive heard a thousand people who don't own them say the rods are shit. They are fine for an NA build of any spec. People who don't or can't own something nice tend to be bitter and will tell you that you failed because of this and that. In actual fact they are just negative because they are bitter and jealous. Blacktop and silvertop rods are under 20grams per rod different in mass (actual figure escapes me), despite looking incredibly different. Doesnt that tell you something. Honestly if your gonna go 20v, its worth going black for the lighter flywheel, bigger throttles, better cams, lighter rods and higher compression. It will only make about 5kw more than a silvertop, but the trip from KW 1 to KW 95 will be swifter.

BMI. Brisbane Motor Imports. Cheapest 20vs in Australia. They ask 850 a silvertop, 12-13 hundred for a Blacktop. Usually they come with flywheel, clutch, alternator, fwd extractors, fwd starter, and a chopped loom with the plugs still on the motor. If its going into a conversion they give a turn key warranty, if its going into a straight motor swap then they give you 3 or 6 months. Ive bought a blacktop and a silvertop from them, as well as a jdm sprinter halfcut. All of which were sweet. They ship Australia wide for around 100-150 dollars. There is a member of rollaclub that works there too.

Use motorcyle monoshocks for the rear. Higly adjustable, off the shelf springs cheap in different rates, and cheap secondhand. can't get around the 4 link but. You'd get around modding a diff by using one with 4 link mounts on it already from another car. Then youd just need to source some arms and mounts off another chassis and locate them all. You could even equalize the length of the upper arms with the lower and sit them at the appropriate angle around 12-17 degrees. You would be without a backseat to do this but. This is far from impossible, its probably about as much work as a weld in half cage. You could do it in a day if you had everything you need to do it right there. There will be some major concerns with the car being legal though. There are poly leaves available some places which a lot of racecars use now, if this /\/\/\ sounds like a lot of work to you.

Its a personal choice. Look at the pros and cons: Pros: Look kinda cool JDm style When your driving hard you can use your mirrors without turning away from the road as much, and you get a completely different blindspot area. Cons: Need to get out of the car to adjust, or use 2 people. Butcher 2 panels and paint. Some people just don't get it. The kind of people who want indicator mirrors off a merc on their ke.

You have to make your own. Give punctuation a chance or the next post I read without any goes straight to the trash. You will need to lower the car, find the wheels you want, fit them, then roll an old bit of 2 inch pipe between the tyre and the gaurd. Use a heat gun to soften the metal first if you have to.

Looks awesome. I like the chiaroscuro lighting effect hes used. Your car is inspiring. I'm sharpening a machete to handle the guy who hit you as we speak... :)

Youre not gonna have much luck using a 4k powered car for drift. Youd be looking a 4age or better. A mini spool is way better than a locker though, that will help plenty. Go stiffer springs and a stiffer rear swaybar to make it more chuckable and willing to slide.

Trav: Hey, the way I see it, its your first car. The mods you've done, while not particularly tasteful (from a retro classics POV) or performance enhancing (from a racers point of view), reflect the amount of love a young person has for their first car. There's a tonne of enthisiasm and love for this car going on. Once Trav learns more about a cars mechanical side I'm sure he will refocus his efforts into more positive and practical areas, to enhance the driving experience for the driver. We're all here to learn, and every day is a school day, how quickly we forget that sometimes (me included). The KE has been modified with lots of positive energy on a low budget. Kudos for doing the best with what you have. My personal opinion, well I think the bonnet scoop was a mistake, as was the kit and painting the console and dash bright shiny colours. Those mods just scream Rice, as in Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements. They seem to hint that you want the ke70 to be something different. I say, throw the rice away and let the car be a ke70. It is what it is, old. If you don't appreciate the retro styling or agility of the ke, maybe you should think about getting a later, bigger, newer car asap. I guess I'm just philosophically different to most young people these days. I'm not into stereos or bling, or looking faster than I am, I prefer to look much slower, the looks on peoples faces are better that way. I only tend to make a change to a cars appearance if I have to. All the best, if your happy thats all that matters. :)
